I wrote this piece on Duke’s depth after the Sulaimon dismissal.  With only two players committed for next, with Sheed and Semi gone and with Cook, Jones, Okafor and Winslow likely gone, this Duke team will be hurting from a depth perspective come next year.

What do you guys think Duke will look like next season?

A lot could depend on where Brandon Ingram goes and how guys like Grayson Allen and Matt Jones react to larger roles. Sean Obi will also be eligible next season after transferring from Rice and should give them a big body who will specialize in rebounding. My biggest concern is who will play point for this team if Tyus Jones indeed does leave for the NBA.

I would argue that it is exactly the opposite.  He recruited over guys like Gbinije and Murphy causing them to transfer.  Not really sure why Semi transferred.  I’m surprised Plumlee has stayed.  He clearly isn’t as talented as his older brotheres but he could have played more significant minutes elsewhere.

Duke will always be hurting from a depth perspective because K never goes to his bench. Duke will never be playing 9-10 guys. This year he has gotten little to no production from his bench even when he has gone to it. He had Grayson Allen, Marshall Plumlee, and Sulaimon before he was dismissed. Some guys those guys would score zero points off the bench. K has never used a deep bench so even if he has quality players coming off the bench he will never go to them.

 i mite be in the minority but I don’t think the team changed at all losing sheer. I mean I know he’s a vet but it’s not like he was giving us a huge lift off the bench. And as touted as he was coming off of hs for him not to start yet and stIll have to play off the bench it’s like what was his problem
