So far what ive noticed
Howard has some good low post moves but just cant finish them
Hayward has suprised me with his ups
Duke is getting favored by the refs
Is there a team with better rebounding guards than butler?

Duke isn’t getting the looks that it wants in the half-court; I guess they aren’t used to man-to-man defense.
Zoubek is gonna be the key for Duke….

These refs are flat out TERRIBLE! There have been bad calls at both ends, but Duke definitely has a favorable whistle. They’re allowing Zoubek to get away with a lot down in the paint!

zoubek slapped howard in that play where the ball ended up bouncing off his foot..so howard should have got free throws and zoubek should have been out

No reasonable, rational person can say that Duke was getting favored by the refs.. There was a definite travel by Hayward that went uncalled… Zoubek got pushed in the back a few times on rebounds and it wasn’t called…Scheyer got hacked on a shot towards the end that wasnt called..
There were also some misses on the opposite end, though, as well.
The game was reffed ok, not amazing, but i’ve seen much worse. Only a true duke hater can say that the refs favored them this game–even my duke hating friends admitted duke won the game and not the refs (and they are typically quick to blame the refs).

Ehh idk… The Scheyer charge was BS(i dont remember if that was first or 2nd half) but other than that there is nothing clear cut i can say was obvious in Duke’s favor–For the most part they let them play which is good.
I think you’re being too critical on the refs, I don’t think they were all that awful….

Howard got taken out by Zoubek’s elbow on one of the last rebounds of the game … no call, but the ball went off zoubek’s foot … still though, an obvious foul

ok if you want to get critical at the end of the game howard completely took out singler on the last second shot that was blatantly a foul that allowed hayward to get that half court-er off clean.

Even with the never ending TV Commercial breaks [DanEboy there were 18], this was a great game as Butler and Duke played exceedingly well from the first minute to the very end. In conclusion, the difference maker was the atrocious FG shooting percentage by Butler.
Hayward: 2 for 11
Veasly: 1 for 9
Mack: 5 for 14
And Matt, “I commit a foul every other minute” Howard, missed several in close opportunities that could have made a difference. I was rooting for Butler but I have to commend Duke for hitting big shots when it counted. In the end, both teams put forth 100% effort, leaving everything out on the court.
It was definitely a fun game to watch and I was impressed with both squads.
