B-ball fanParticipantI’ve said this before, but the hype on him is going overboard. I think the success of Duncan, Hibbert and Gasol in this postseason has people searching for the next great low post center, but I don’t think Len is it. I just don’t think he has the mentality or feel for the game to become a player equal to the sum of his parts. I liked everything I read about him, but after the season I went back and watched some of Maryland’s games and was really disappointed by him, even though I cherry picked his best games. He is a developmental prospect at best and doesn’t have the physicality or motor to make an impact in the short term.
I would much rather have Zeller over Len. Zeller may be a little smaller, but he is much more skilled. He just has a knack for scoring. And for all the knocks of Zeller’s strength/toughness, he is definitely a more physical player than Len, with more competitive fire to go along with his superior athleticism and skill level.

rwd5035ParticipantWell I wouldn’t rank Len #1 but I think Len has more potential than Zeller for sure.

B-ball fanParticipantWhy is his potential so much greater than Zeller’s? Zeller is an excellent ball handler with a knack for drawing fouls, a fairly advanced post game and potential as a jump shooter, while being even more athletic than Len. And even if Len has higher upside than Zeller, that doesn’t mean he is a better prospect. Zeller is the superior player right now by a very significant margin. And I would guess that Zeller is more likely to reach his full potential, due to his higher b-ball iq and his superior motor.
I feel like Zeller is the victim of high expectations. He is seen as a disappointment for struggling in his team’s tournament loss against a team that runs a defense no NBA team runs. If Len had the same expectations placed on him, he would see much more criticism. He regularly had games with worse production against inferior opponents. Sure, Len didn’t have the greatest supporting cast, but that doesn’t entirely explain his struggles.
