Doncic or Simmons

who do you think will end up with the better career? Simmons does everything except shoot. Doncic does everything and shoots. Doncic is younger but Simmons looks like he can play longer as far as body types go. i know i’m in the minority but i think doncic is better then simmons and ayton and should have gone number 1. I will say if Simmons can developers a 3 point shot he will be the better of the two but i don’t think he wants too or has the work ethic to do it.

That is a very tough one, but

That is a very tough one, but I am going to go with Ben Simmons having a better career.

Simmons is the more

Simmons is the more physically gifted of the 2. It really all depends on if Simmons can develop a shot, which right now, doesn’t seem likely. I think id take Doncic over Simmons just because hes younger and can shoot. But i think Simmons has the higher ceiling if he can put it all together.

The one thing that concerns me is Doncic’s defense. But i guess nowadays, you really dont NEED to be an eilite defender. Hes good enough to get by.

I like em both. I don't know

I like em both. I don't know who will end up having the better career. U Can't go wrong with either guy. But right now I think Doncic has a slight edge. He is amongst the league leaders in clutch points. And His Own team.

Both will be all stars and

Both will be all stars and all nba players many times over. I guess it depends on who else their teams get and where they play - very few guys stay with one franchise these days

Hmmm ... tough one. Simmons

Hmmm ... tough one. Simmons is on a much more talented team and ultimately, players careers are judged by how much they impact winning. Doncic not only doesn’t have as much talent around him, I’m not sure he has the right kind of players around him. Dallas seems to have a lot of guys that need the ball, and long term, I’m not sure some of those guys are the right fit.

To me, Doncic may end up being the better all-around scorer, and Simmons the better all-around player.

Doncic reminds me of Larry Bird, but then I remember that at the same age, Larry Bird quit Indiana.

As an Aussie, I’ve gotta say

As an Aussie, I’ve gotta say Doncic. Simmons is great and will have a great career, but can become a liability late in games. Late in games is where Doncic excels. Talent wise, I think they’re similar, but Simmons is the better athlete. Athletic shortcomings can be managed with coaching schemes and bball IQ, and is much less of a shortcoming than no jump shot. I invoke the right to revisit this question if Simmons learns to shoot, but at the moment, it’s Doncic.

It is in Simmons hands, if he

It is in Simmons hands, if he develops a shot he will be better player thanks to the 2 extra inch and being way more athletic which makes him better defender too.
If he doesn't, I think it will likely be Luka, he has better shot and more clutch and probably more craftiness and overall more resourceful as a player on offense.

I’m inclined to say Simmons

I’m inclined to say Simmons has the higher overall ceiling, simply because of his huge athletic advantage. Since doncic doesn’t have superior burst or athletic ability, he may always be one of those guys that has to rely on tough, contested shots somewhat, but that doesn’t mean he cant develop into the type of player that can carry an offense. He’s crafty and skilled enough. Guys like Larry bird and more recently James harden, weren’t great athletes either and it definitely didn’t hold them back.

The fact that Simmons has been in the league for 3 years and has essentially made no strides on his shooting (despite even having essentially a whole redshirt season to work on it) is troubling to say the least. On one hand, you can say it’s good that he plays to his strengths, but his ability as a scorer will always be limited if he can’t or won’t even attempt to shoot the ball. He is already a terrific all-around player, but I don’t know if he can ever really develop into the type of player that can truly carry a franchise. That’s easier to see with doncic right now.

I think they are both going to have great careers but if I had to choose one I’m picking doncic right now.

Harden

James Harden is a phenomenal athlete with great bounce, quickness, change of direction, and first step. He's most certainly elite, especially if you watch him rise on defenders.

I don't know why people think James Harden is an average athlete - even by NBA standards he's for sure above average.

Simmons has more natural

Simmons has more natural ability and a big athleticism advantage plus as said above if he develops a 3 point scoring range then he goes to the very top level plus he has Embeast on his team. Doncic however probably has the better basketball IQ certainly superior to Simmons at the same age.

Plus I'd factor in that Doncic whilst not being as athletic as Simmons wouldn't potentially lose that explosiveness that Simmons has so wouldn't need to compensate for that like Simmons may have to a decade down the line.

It is a hard question but whilst logically I'd think Simmons, I just feel Doncic might have the better career.

I don't know, I could easily

I don't know, I could easily be talked into Doncic having the better career, especially if he comes out improved next year and Simmons still hasn't added anything new. Like I'm not asking Simmons to shoot 10 3-pointers a game, or even a week, I'm just asking him to make a free throw. He hasn't even proven he can improve that, so I'm on the fence about him.

I also like Doncic's make-up, for a kid his age, he's got a lot of moxie, confidence and has that competitive edge ... He's not afraid of the moment and wants the ball at the end of a game.
