Just a thing of beauty! So refined, strong with amazing reading ability, his post moves are Tim Duncan level good, he doesn’t have close to Duncan length but those skills still make him a great force and so fun to watch..,

Holy shit, that’s a bad comp. You can go with comparing with TD and Domantas’ dad maybe, before he got injured.. he may have been in the same class, but that’s still a big call.

Junior is a ways off. What are you talking about TD is longer, wingspan you mean? Domantas is at least two inches taller than TD.

i just compare in terms of post skills, how both so pure, strong and elegant as post players, and yes domantas is way shorter than td because of his t rex arms…

I could have sworn Duncan is 7ft tall (although listed at 6′ 11). Sabonis is 6’10. That makes Duncan 2 inches taller than Sabonis, not the other way round.

Would you trade him for Lamarus Aldridge?  How about Nikola Vucevic?  How about Enes Kanter?

I would trade Vucevic and Kanter for him in a heartbeat, he is already a better defender than them due to how smart he is and has more potential than them as well. He is only 21 years old, Aldridge not so much.

Maybe because of his youth you think about it, but Sabonis is goodthat is undeniable. Big Al Jefferson stated that he and Kevin Love are the smartest young guys he ever played with, which to me says despite Sabonis’ limitations physically he can become a very good player.

If Sabonis can get a little leaner and pick up that foot speed to play PF, then his inside game paired with Turners outside game could be a thing of beauty in Indiana.
      In saying that I am slowly seeing the return of 2 bigger bodied guys at C & PF like Baynes/Horford, Jonas/Ibaka, Kanter/Porzingis, Lopez/Markannean, Capela/Anderson, Gasol/Aldridge, KAT/Gibson, Cousins/Davis, Jordan/Griffin, Lopez/Randle.
As long as at least 1 can shoot the long ball I think we will see more combos like this.

I like the kid’s game, but are we really gonna ignore the op saying "his post moves are Tim Duncan level good"?!? That’s one of the more ridiculous things written around here in awhile, and that’s saying something.

His ceiling is Al Horford type of player, so I think he could be a solid PF in the future. Although Turner can shoot the 3 consistently I still think Sabonis will need to learn to do so as well.

What will ultimately determine his future is how well he can match-up with those smaller forwards, he seems far more nimble and lighter on his feet on Turner so I expect him to have that role of matching up with the Draymond Green, Tobias Harris, James Johnson’s of the league.

I think that might be tough for him to do without length and lateral quickness.

    Sabonis is impressive.

Obviously, he has great feet, hands and post moves. Very comfortable playing with his back to the basket or facing up. What people don’t know is that he’s a great screener and just has a great feel for when to roll, when to slip, when to pop, re-screen, etc. He’s great at making himself available and being in the right spots. You can just tell that he’s been taught the game well and understands how to play. He has a great feel for the game when it comes to being a big man. He’s A LOT better than Myles Turner in this area.

Defensively, he’s strong and will hold his ground. He doesn’t get pushed around. However, due to his lack of length, he’ll never be a great shot blocker. He has average lateral quickness, so he can be exploited being forced to defend ball screens versus certain teams. He can be a foul magnent defensively at times.

He’s going to be a great NBA player.

Not a fan of the Al Horford comparrison. Horford is soft, doesn’t post up and doesn’t rebound. Sabonis is the complete opposite in all three areas. He’s already a better rebounder than Horford has ever been, has some toughness in him and wants to post up and mix it up in the paint.
