Ok, I’m tired of watching him having a great team in his hands and to not be able to get the most of his players. So he assumed the role of the Midas of the league, send me the unfortunate and I’ll transform them in the bench that I never had. Not happening. You’re not that good.

So far he’s been underachieving. Losing games to subpar teams. And I’ believe the Clippers would be much better with a real coach on the sidelines.

how coaches are viewed is so dependent on the team’s talent. Rivers was garbage to start his career in orlando then he was a great basketball mind when he led the celtics to a ring now he is 50/50 depending on who you ask becasue his team is really good but hasnt quite achieved the top level of success. Im seeing the same thing with byron scott. He went to the finals early in his coaching career with a nets team that wasnt that great and he got tons of credit. He then had the hornets competing for the best record in the west and lakersfans were screaming for us to hire him. Now that we have him and we arent winning he sucks and has no idea about modern nba. Last year it wasnt enough threes. This year its too many threes not enough defense.

Im sorry to go on a tangent and im not defending either doc or byron or any other coach. They both might suck. I just hate how fans are fair weather and rate people 100% on what they have seen in the last couple seasons.

As for doc, my biggest complaint is that he is a whinner to the refs and you can fully see it translate to the team. That whole clippers team cries non stop.

I would never say that just Any coach can win a Title w/ great players…..  But more than any other Pro sport, the NBA is a League where the Title is won by the team w/ the Best players…. I think Doc is a very good coach but when Danny Aigne assembled "The Big 3" of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen & Kevin Garnette (w/ Rajon Rondo)….. Doc became a "Great Coach"….

A good organizatiom builds through the Draft & finds level headed coach who leads by example…. A man of personal integrity who seeks to put his players in the best position to succeed…. If that team Develops, Gels & stays healthy they could win a Ring….. & that coach could be a Huge part of that Title but it won’t be Becauase of him….

Doc won coach of the year his first season with a roster full of nothing. So you’re wrong. He was not garbage to start off his coaching career.

Is he great? No, but he’s good and a team can win with him. He’s a good communicator, very encouraging. Manages egos well. Players want to play for him.  His offensive design is good.  He’s excellent calling plays especially out of dead ball situations, but his defense is lacking.  It’s like his teams play a prevent type defense and he overcompensates by not letting his teams crash the boards so that they can all fall back early.

His team crying has nothing to do with his coaching ability.  Coaches are supposed to cry to the refs so that the players don’t have to. His players cried before he got there and they’ll cry after he’s gone.

As a GM though he’s not that good.  Acquiring his son, Lance and Josh Smith were all gambles.  They were cheap gambles, but I think in the end he’ll get what he paid for.

Byron Scott though is straight up trash.  He has no redeeming qualities except for being an excellent tank commander.  His X’s and O’s and philosophy are outdated and he’s a dck to his players.  There is no comparison b/t the 2.

It’s one regular season game, teams are going to lose to teams they’re better than over the course of the season. this isn’t football, so it’s not no biggie. If you’re still on Doc for the choke vs Houston than fine, I get that, he shouldn’t just get a pass for that.  I think he’s a pretty good coach, probably not top 5 but I’d say top 10 without thinking. Plus I still think the Clipper’s team still has too many holes, no dependable backup big, and their wings are all medicore, and Paul Pierce is a role player at this point until the playoffs when he’ll turn it, but for now he’s got to preserve himself in the regular season.

I would say the Clipper’s problems aren’t on Doc’s coaching ability but what he’s done as the GM.

I wonder if they could hire thibs as an assistant to get their defense in order. Not sure if he would be open to it but might be worth an inquiry at least, especially since I’m sure he’s probably chomping at the bit to at least get back into coaching at some level. He doesn’t strike me as the type who is comfortable just sitting around.

He isnt a bad coach, he did outcoach pop last postseason… however this team is poorly created so I would have to blame Doc the president.

I don’t know, but I like Doc’s offense. It’s not stagnant and everyone seems in tune with each other. Reddick gets a lot of good off the ball plays while Paul and Griffin work their magic in the pick and roll. Honestly, compared to Del Negro’s offense, this looks way better.

What lacking as always is the bench. Now, they’re deeper but the bench has no chemistry. And there’s no way Josh Smith should play the 5 spot the whole season. But I have faith the Clips will get this right.

Without Rivers. He constantly made bad decisions that cost that team. I said it b4 and will say it again. Overrated. Rondo was smarter than him.

This sites ignorant users is getting out of hand. People saying doc is a bad coach is laughable. He has helped the clippers reach their potential. Its not his fault deandre can’t make free throws or utilize a consistent post move, or that Jamal crawford or Blake or JJ will never be good defenders, especially crawford. Its also not his fault the organization signed to 2 very erractic perimeter shooters in lance & josh smith.

Doc does bring out the best in his players, but when you don’t have players you can depend on on both sides of the floor, or more specifically can’t perform then that’s not his fault. He is relegated to benching DJ in the 4th because of poor free throw shooting, which is a double edged sword. Either he stays on the floor and misses free throws or he goes to the bench and the clips lose their super athletic dpoy candidate. Then Blake slides to the 5 & he is average on d at best from game to game, so with no rim.protection in the 4th how exactly is that doc’s fault. If you think doc isn’t a good coach & the clips failure for more postseason success is his fault then you have the wrong perspective on basketball.

It’s very difficult to rate coaches. So people use a simple rule of thumb: ‘if the team is disappointing me, the coach sucks. If the team is playing better than I expected, the coach is great’.

Most of the time, hyping or berating the coach is a measure of one’s own ignorance. It’s the wildcard you use when you’re at a loss to explain your team’s results.

I think the Clippers team needs to be retooled.  Adding Josh Smith, Paul Pierce and Lance Stephensen does not make them a championship team.  After they wet the bed last year against Houston, I thought they would make changes, but they basically brought back the same core.  Chris Paul is great, but he’s 30 now.  I’ve never been a big Blake Griffin fan.  He’s obviously one of the most athletic guys in the league, but I don’t think you can build a franchise around him.  In my opinion, Deandre Jordan isn’t worth anywhere near what he is being paid.  He’s an elite rebounder and shot blocker who can’t make a free throw to save his life and has little to no offensive game.  Doc is a very good coach in my opinion.  That 07-08 Celtics team is one of my favorite teams of all time.  What he did with those guys was remarkable.  I just the Clippers need a makeover.  Lot’s of talent, but very little substance and many playoff failures with the same core of guys.
