Did Tony Allen ''FAKE'' that Manu Fragrant Foul? lol

With 27 seconds remaining and the Spurs leading 85-81...Zack Randolph stole the ball and made a pass to Tony Allen who seemed to have had a clear cut path to the basket ...But as he went in the air from the layup, Manu Ginobli grabbed his arm and pulled him down..Allen spent several seconds rolling on the floor holding his head....The Refs called it a fragrant foul....Allen hit both free throws and Mike Conley tied it up with a tough jumper...

Many people today are saying Allen Faked the injury...

My friends and i sat about 5 rows from the court last night and i was confused as to why he was holding his head..Becuz i saw him using his hands to brace his fall....And i didn't see his head hit the floor...
But I think it was a smart play, on Allen's part...It helped carry his team to overtime..Where the Grizzzlies blew it by taking dumb shot and dumb shot And lost the game...........

Stephen A. Smith said the NBA should Fine Allen for faking the injury.......

Did Tony Allen fake the Manu Ginobili flagrant foul that put the Grizzlies and Spurs into overtime? | Ball Don't Lie - Yahoo! Sports http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/did-tony-allen-fake-manu...

It was still a flagrant foul.

It was still a flagrant foul.

Allen bracing himself doesn't change that pulling a dude down by his arm while he's in mid-air is blatantly flagrant and suspension worthy.

This was not a flagrant foul

This was not a flagrant foul imo. Manu pulled down the Allen's arm to prevent a layup. He didn't wrap his arms around him, shove him, or have body contact. Allen made a smart play and took advantage of the situation and Allen's reaction is what gave Ginobli a flagrant, but if Allen would have stood right up it would have just been called a foul. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Allen is given a fine. He clearly didn't hit his head when he fell and there was no reason to grab it like that. I am sure he might have been in pain, but it wasn't his head.

He pulled down his

He pulled down his non-shooting arm and made zero play on the ball.

Do I think he did?

Do I think he did? Absolutely.

But let's not pretend there's any way to know definitively. Sometimes people grab their head no matter what is hurt. Maybe he hurt his neck, or maybe he really did clip his head slightly. It wouldn't take much contact with the floor for that to hurt. There's no way to really know, but to reiterate, I think he absolutely faked it.

I think he did fake it but

I think he did fake it but they were owed one after that HORRIBLE call on Mike Conley in the second quarter. Conley didn't even touch Gary Neal and that threw off the Grizzlies momentum after he drained that 3 to bring the Grizzlies within 3. The Spurs went up by like 11 within a matter of seconds after that call.

Flagrant?

The only reason that was called a flagrant was because of the hard fall. If that is a flagrant foul then so is every foul where someone wraps up Dwight Howard or Deandre Jordan or some other bad free throw shooter.

I think it was a flagrant

I think it was a flagrant foul. Pulling a guy down when he is in air is a dangerous play. Tony Allen was trying to sell a Flagrant 2 or which ever one it was that could get Manu kicked out.

Tough game. Great playoff game. Grizzlies missed too many free throws and layups. Duncan hit some big shots in overtime, and our guys were just gassed.

Tony Allen flopped, but that

Tony Allen flopped, but that wasn't a play on the ball by Manu.

Tony definitely sold the call

Tony definitely sold the call but that is part of the game. He didn't flop though. He just sold it. It was a flagrant foul in today's game. He grabbed the man's arm while he was in air and pulled him to the ground. It was a dangerous play and the right call was made. Let's not act like Manu wouldn't have done the same thing if he was fouled like that.

sit him for the next game for "concussion testing".

So what you're saying is you

So what you're saying is you want Manu to just lightly slap Allen's arm so he could still put the ball up for a three point play? That was a normal playoff foul imo, not even close to a flagrant. Tony just sold it.

Meh, there's ridiculous calls

Meh, there's ridiculous calls and flops on both sides.

Ginobli got to shoot three free throws when he lost control of the ball and spun to the ground in game 1 near half court (without even taking a shot). If the refs are going to be so terrible with no consequences from the league then you can't blame players for trying to manipulate their calls every now and then.
