Watching the one against blake and his squad. You could see at 17 years old Blake wasn’t a world class athlete yet. Rose was though. lol. I can’t imagine what kind of work blake put in to get like that.

Props. First time seeing that AAU footage.

Blake looking like he’s got some extra baggage. He looks bigger there than he does right now.

People forget that EJ was the more highly regarded player in HS and AAU over Rose.

Willie Warren was a baller. I hope he gets another shot in the NBA. He has NBA skills with his shooting, slashing, handle and ability to play to contact. He was a yr younger than those guys in that video and he was giving them the business.

I remember seeing Blake in the McDonald’s All-American dunk contest and his fantastic explosion off of the court, sort of wondered why he was not more highly regarded in the rankings.Another guy who was bigger in HS, or at the very least nowhere near as built as he is right now, was Kevin Love. That guy completely transformed his body once he got to the league and I feel it is one of the reasons he has been as durable as he has.

Yes, this is even considering all the time he has missed in his first five seasons. He had knee issues at the HS level and beyond the ridiculous way he broke his hand this season, those have not been as much of an issue as I thought they might be. He had nowhere near the athleticism of Blake, just was much smarter and much more skilled. Was truly dominant at the HS level, not surprised he did really well in his one year of college and his dedication to changing his body led me to be surprised with just how well he has played at the NBA level. (go to around 7:00 mark in the video)

I was there at the same tournament! It was Augusta SC at the Nike Peach Jam… We lost to Kemba Walker, Durand Scott, Jordan Theodore- Ny Guachos. They were fast as hell! Mean Streets won their age group, I forgot who they played in the championship, but I think it was Tyreke’s team. That same tournament, Reggie Johnson (Miami) broke the glass in warmups. That was the best AAU Tournament in the world to me. Draymond Green put on a show playing with the Family. Pat Patterson was so nasty, dunking almost everything. Kendall Marshall was playing like 3 years up and was dominating with his passing. Blake’s team wasnt that great, he had Xavier Henry, Big Kyle (lightskinned guy that started with Blake, great player but knees gave out on him,) and Daniel Orton, but they all played 2years up. It was a tournament for the top 16 Nike teams in our group. For the 17u it was the top 24 Nike teams.

Sorry man, but i dont really like to expose that on here. I like the idea of everyone being anonymous on the site. No real reason why though.
On the other hand, The Guachos were real! They beat us by three in the Peach Jam Finals and beat almost everyone the entire season. They lost to Boo Williams once I remember, but we beat Boo Williams, another top team with Marshawan Powell, Kendall Marshall, and Kevin Jones. It was a crazy

Great videos thank you so much!

Blake was really nowhere the athlete he is today in the first clip. Incredible how he put on all his muscles.
DRose was already looking like the real deal.

Interesting that all of this young gungs already have their own ways to move or their own style of play. EG looked really like himself and I’m still a fan of Xavier Henry. His moves with the ball just look right and controlled. I was very high on him before the draft and he may still end up as the better player at the 2 comparing to Rivers.
