Just 1 real quick question….. I know he’s a slasher, but why is he playing the 2 spot instead of the 3? I’m not knocking him, because I like him but he lacks the J for the 2 spot. I can see him playing the 3. I also have read that he has bulked up from 210 to now 225, so I doubt the quickness will still be there for him so I expect him to play the 3 this season.

i really don’t Know but whom else would you play at the 2 in Toronto?

by the way i have the feeling that with bosh gone it could be a great season for him, just like for bosh when VC left. Most people expect bargnani to be the next big name for Toronto but i think derozan has a good chance to take that role…

He is 21 so he has most likely just finished growing or is just finishing. From what I’ve seen he is much quicker, and much more explosive, he added muscle but not too much. He plays the 2 because he has a great abillity to get off his shot and good playmaking abillities. Not alot of people have noticed his abillity too shoot the mid-ranged J which is very smooth and was especially smooth during the last half of last Season. Toronto’s system does not incorporate a 2 SG and 3 SF as much as it incorparates a 2 Wing system. Both wings are costantly cutting to the basket while one big is in the low post and Bargnani is on the perimeter with the PG running the show from the Top of the 3-point line (usually running the Pick and Roll). That is why if Derozan and Weems extend their range and space the floor Toronto could remain an extremly dangerous offensive team. Also his defensive quicks could make him capable of matching up with some of the games best in the future as a lockdown defender, but last season he was not strong enough too gaurd many SF’s. The biggest reason was because Turkoglu played SF, although aside from his lack of range and ball handling (which is better then advertised) he is best suited for the SG position.

I think this will be a coming out party for him now that he has added 15lbs. He already has the athleticsm to get to da hoop, by him doing that he should now muscle his way to the hoop with ease. I still think he definitely needs to work on his shooting & ball handling skills to become a star player.

I believe they could start Barbosa @ the 2 or even Weems, but Barbosa would be better suited to play the 2 while DeRozan plays the 3.

yes like mentioned before DeMar really looks even quicker and even more athletic now..that’s why he has unlimited potential because he is LeBron type of athlete 10-15lbs made him even better athlete(and stronger without no doubts)…his mid-range game going to be veeery good and i see jumper coming too..so i like his perfect size for SG position, no big problems there imo.

    Calderon/Jack/Banks
    DeRozan/Barbosa
    Kleiza/Weems/Wright
    Johnson/Davis/Evans
    Bargnani/Andersen/Dorsey

If they wouldn’t have signed Kleiza, I would have said Weems at the 2 and DeMar at the 3. But with the addition of Kleiza I think Kleiza will play the 2 and DeMar the 3 and that they will switch on D. I would let Barbosa come off the bench and give him all the minutes he can handle. Calderon is my man at the 1, last year wasn’t his best year but he’ll be back (even though he’s out right now). I think he’s a guy that will make the youngsters around him better. At the 4 I hope Davis will come into his own as soon as possible, I’m not that high on Johnson (not to start anyway). I could even see Bargnani starting at the 4 and Andersen at the 5, Andersen is a good player that can handle top competition.

I don’t think this year is really his coming out party though. He put up about 9 ppg last year and I expect him to get about 15 ppg this season. I don’t think his real breakout season is until 2011-2012, he needs to continue to develop his game until he can be considered a real impact guy or potential all-star. I do think he’ll be alot better, but to the tune of 15 ppg and 5 rpg and a steal.

I expect Derozan to get about 13 ppg and 4 or 5 rpg. He’s a true SF to me too. He’s not a good enough shooter off the bounce, from deep nor is he a good enough ball-handler to play SG. He’ll be an improved player though, he’s just not going to be a breakthrough player yet. That’ll come in 2011-2012 like JoeWolf said

As Oh Canada said, he has a very under rated mid range game that he never got to display much last season being the 5th option. But I would love for him to play more 3.

Can’t wait to see him this season. Bargnani as the franchise player doesn’t sit well with me.

Thank you for agreeing with me on this 1….. I like him @ the 2 to create mismatch problems all day with size, but he has 2 be able to shoot well & handle the ball better to create for himself off the bounce.

Barbosa should get moved to another team because DeRozan should be the 2 guard and Weems who plays really well next to him should be starting unless they start Kleiza who can really stroke it.

Toronto will be better than people expect and should have a better record than Cleveland. I don’t know what the people at ESPN are talking about.
