HaleParticipantThis guy had a crazy slide last year from projected lottery to early second round, big issues with coachability, work ethic and his lack of post-moves. Well one year in no signs of any issues with his coach, he is doing an insane workout routine to get ready for next year and plays behind guys like Camby and Kaman. Once he learns a few things from them, I think he could be a very good player. When he was given time last year, he showed a lot of promise, although he really needs to work on his free throws. What do you guys think?

Tobe BryantParticipantA poor man’s Dwight Howard in the making…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 4:57pm #174241
Stanford hoopsParticipanti think there was a disscussion eariler…all we know about his workout is what he tells people not from a bunch of other sources..and most of the nba players have insanse workouts…he did have the same work ethic issue which was reported a lil after the all star break although his teammates and assitant coach said he was getting better at working hard…i do like his game though poor mans dwight howard sounds close along with a stromile swift ( not rich mans or poor mans)

HaleParticipantStromile Swift sucked though.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:04pm #174250
sheltwon3ParticipantSwift stay hurt and never really put it all together but Jordan could be a solid pro. He, Griffin and Gordan can be the future of the Clippers actually being good for a change.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:09pm #174258
Stanford hoopsParticipantswift didnt suck in the beginning as i recall his numbers were either the same or better then jordans his first year also…im not sure what he needs to put together that he has..right now hes just a athletic big man with no real post moves….basically these days if youre big and athletic you automaticlly have all this skill you just havent put together yet
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:11pm #174260
HaleParticipantJordan didn’t play much last year, I think Stromile Swift should be a lot better. I don’t like comparing an up and coming player to a bust. That is why I don’t like the comparison.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:12pm #174261
Stanford hoopsParticipantthat is tru..and yeah there is a reason he didnt start nto just because he is young and a rookie or cuz other players where there..griffin has a 20 10 guy ahead of him as well as some good big men but hes gonna get a bunch of time and prob start…some of that time will be what jordan would have gotten this year
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:13pm #174262
JoeWolf1Thats because the Grizz took him at #2 and sans Darko very few high draft picks play 14 minutes a game, if Jordan played as much as Swift did his rookie year his numbers would have been better. Jordan is a better shot blocker than Swift ever was, maybe Dalembert is a more accurate comparison
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:14pm #174263
HaleParticipantYes, I totally agree. He didn’t play much because he wasn’t ready and they had proven starters ahead of him. I hope they mentor him though, he is an intriguing prospect. Zach Randolph was traded though, so Griffin will start probably.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:15pm #174266
Stanford hoopsParticipantyep he didnt play much cuz he wasnt ready..ill have to check the shot blocking numbers and factor in the min to see if he was a better shot blocker then swift..i dont think he was but we shall see in a minute
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:23pm #174274
Stanford hoopsParticipanthmmmm after research swift only averaged 16min a game to jordans 14…he started less games then jordan and averaged 1blk…jordan averaged 1.1blks..there numbers across the board were very similar..so i guess youre right about the blks but im sure not as much as you thought..now lets see if jordan makes the jump in his second year that swift did…swift second year 12pts 6reb 1.7 blks

HaleParticipantI don’t think Jordan will get PT next year to put up those numbers unless Camby or Kaman is moved. The year after I could see him exploding out though.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:29pm #174282
Stanford hoopsParticipantaccording to some he should get those min because of his INSANE workout that he tells everyone he is doing
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:30pm #174283
HaleParticipantHe is what 20 years old? Playing behind 2 proven veterans and the #1 overall pick? Hard to get PT no matter what you do with that kind of depth, you can’t get everyone their minutes.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:33pm #174286
Stanford hoopsParticipantyea for some who just arent that good yet..yea which is my point..hes just not good yet..hes awight just not good skill wise yet
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:35pm #174288
HaleParticipantYour arguing my point, he isn’t good yet but he could be very good. You seem to just hate every prospect except the guy with your same name.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:36pm #174289
JoeWolf1He’s gonna be a steal regardless if he can stay healthy and keep his head straight, If the Clips are smart they’ll keep him, Kaman is a pretty decent center, but i really don’t see him getting any better, but playing behind him and Camby is gonna make Jordan better even if he doesn’t blow up til year 3 or 4
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:43pm #174296
Stanford hoopsParticipanttru..naw i just have to be devils advicate with those who say someones a sure thing without proving it..cant really understand how peopel can say a player is a sure this if 1. they only seen them in all star games and you tube clips .2 when they have only played in youtube clips..or 3 they arent a sure thing like a lebron..esspecially when the year in advance mock drafts dont end up liek they are predicted every year for the top 3 picks
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 5:44pm #174297
HaleParticipantI never said Jordan was a sure thing, I said he could. I hope he gets to that point.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 6:07pm #174319
sheltwon3ParticipantJordan has already shown the skills to be a solid pro. You can not compare players based on numbers. Number do now show the full game of a player. To me Jordan does not move like Swift did. Swift with his skill set should have been better. I mean all he need was a decent point guard and it should have been alley oops and blocks. He moved liked a guard and was long on D. If Jordan can stay healthy and learn a few post moves and counters and he should with Camby to mentor him, he can be alright. People forget how injury prone Camby was and then he got healthy and started playing real well even added a decent 15 footer. If Jordan can learn from Camby and add a solid post move or two, the sky is the limit.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 6:09pm #174324
Stanford hoopsParticipantyeah a solid pro..i really doubt the sky is the limit with him..hes hasnt shown any potenial to be a all star..though hes shown potenial to be a solid pro
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 6:11pm #174327
llperezare different players. Swift was a skinny athletic freak who could run the court and explode around the basket. Jordan is bigger and more a natural center. Jordan could become good, but his offense has a long ways to go. Right now he pretty much just dunks.

Stanford hoopsParticipanti agree
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 3:47am #174422
JNixonParticipantJordan seems like he will develop to the guy already on his team, Marcus Camby. He does reminds me of a young Dwight Howard, but him developing into a beast like Howard seems like a reach. But Marcus Camby seems like a more reasonable comparison to me.

europebasketballHe’s good when you give him the minutes the thing he can give points off the bench so he can be a key

jojososa5Participantyea now that tha clip traded ZR to memphis he shuld c more significant playing time
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 5:52am #174475
MuggsyParticipantJordan and Griffin will terrorize the post for years.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 6:03am #174488
Stanford hoopsParticipantterrorize……yeah griffin will..jordan will be awight all he can do is dunk /rebound right now and get in foul trouble…shaq and howard can get away with that but he is neither
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 6:04am #174489
HaleParticipantHe has raw athleticism that many big men can’t match. Have you ever seen him play?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 6:08am #174492
MuggsyParticipantShaq & Dwight are bangers. Jordan is more finesse. He’s still sick.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 6:26am #174512
Stanford hoopsParticipantalot of big men have raw athleticisim…lol..and he can jump not that great of athleticism..is foot speed is average as well as his first step…look at his combine numbers and then tell me he has such great athletisim..right now he just dunks thats it nothing more nothing less..the leauge has alot of big men who came into the leauge doing that dan gadzuric can just dunk just like jordan.. that doesnt make you much or a terror
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 6:27am #174513
Stanford hoopsParticipantsahq and amare and howard excluded
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 6:35am #174517
HaleParticipant1. Have you seen him play? 2. Combine results mean nothing, you would think someone like yourself would know that.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 7:07am #174539
Stanford hoopsParticipantyea ive seen him play..he has no foot work and his lateral speed is pretty slow..he only jumps high..which explains why he doesnt get the mintues if youre good enough teams find minues for you..the clippers arent looking to tade big men to get him more min..they ae trading to get griffin more min…they rarely mention jordan..he will still be a alright pro maybe in the marcus camby mode..i dont see him terrorizing ..cant name too many players who had a bad work ethic and then ended up changing that…just tired of hearing fans talk about players gonna be great just because they can jump even though they have no real skills..i can see if they said hes gonna be a pretty good player…but great and terrorize is a different story
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 7:07am #174543
HaleParticipantI never said he would terrorize, he should be good (we agree on that) but how do you know he has bad work ethic? Did you just read a scouting report from a year ago or what? Maybe when he said he is working hard this offeseason, he actually is.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 7:09am #174546
Stanford hoopsParticipanti never said you said it i said fans…other people on this and other chats have said it..and players always said they are working hard..once i see the results then ill change my mind untill i see it its just him saying it..like if ronnie brewer says hes now a great shooter…actually last year he said he had been working on his jumper all summer and also put up a list of shooting drills he said he was doing yet he still cant shoot
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/02/2009 - 7:11am #174547
HaleParticipantThey are different people though, I guess only time will tell.
