Surprised to hear this. He is 31 years and still playing well. Last year he started all 76 games he appeared in averaging 11 points and 6 assists while shooting 47fg%….41% 3pt

he’s been very consistent throughout his career having never averged less than 10.4ppg any season. He was all rookie first team coming out of ucla where he was part of 3 straight final 4 runs.

hes a career 39% three shooter and 47%fg shooter whos bounced around a lot but always seems to help teams out. Has started 73% of the games he has appeared in over his 10 year career.

Apparently he wants to spend more time helping others and with his religious ministry. It was speculated that he could get in the 10 mil per year range this summer.

Very surprising, not many can turn away from earning millions from doing something that you love. Goodluck on your calling, nothing but respect for the man.

I was definitely surprised to hear this as well. I assume he has other priorities that simply feel more important to him at this point and he must have been smart with his money.

A person that young understanding he’s already set for life & deciding to use his fame & wealth to spend the rest of his life helping others is both Remarkable & unfortunately Rare

Why can’t we get people in our government / politics w/ Darren’s mind set – instead we get a group of Crooks who pretend to battle w/ each in order to get the country divided & at each other’s throats so the people will be distracted while these animals rob the country blind

Happy for Darren Collison & hopefully his good works & charity towards his fellow citizen will Inspire others to be more kind & generous in any small way we can

Full respect to Darren if he wants to do other things outside of basketball. He has earned over $43 million across his career so even deducting tax, agents fees etc. He could easily have $10 million plus saved as I’d figure he’d be a sensible guy with his earnings.

His principles must be strong as he would likely have got offers of $10 million plus per year this summer or had the chance to take less and hop onto a top 5 powerhouse roster given his skillset and being a good locker room presence.

The Pacers have cap space so can look elsewhere for a replacement PG.
