RecoveringVegetarianParticipantHeY Now!! I got into a very heated argument with my now ex friends ..All 3 of them are Ohio state grads they live in Columbus and attended every OSU game last season….We had a discussion of Where would D’Angelo Russell been drafted if he had spent 1 year overseas out of high school? They say he still would’ve been the 2nd pick.. I said he draft stock would’ve been late lottery to mid 1st round..

llperezWho knows, his weaknesses which are lack of athleticism and poor man to man defense would have been hidden pretty well in euro play where skill and passing takes precedence.

MopgrassParticipantHe was noted for playing good on-ball defense during summer league. Team defense is the bigger issue. He doesn’t think he has to defend guys he wasn’t a signed to. Byron Scott mentioned it.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI’m sure he wouldn’t have been drafted as high because he wasn’t a huge name out of high school, at least relative to some others in his class. If he had gone overseas there’s a good chance he wouldn’t have gotten a whole lot of playing time and gotten the exposure he did at ohio St. He went to an ideal situation where he was basically able to come in and be a number one option right away and showcase his talents to a national audience. I highly doubt the buzz surrounding him would have grown as much had he been tucked away overseas somewhere. This doesn’t mean I don’t think he was deserving of the number 2 pick though.

Memphisboy14ParticipantI don’t understand why these high profile guys who come out of high school choose to go to schools that won’t showcase their talents and skills. That’s why I thought that Ben Simmons going to LSU was a smart move for him. When he goes there tit’s no question that he’s gonna be the 1st option in that offense.

phila9012ParticipantTowns was the Number one pick averaging 10ppg, 7rpg and 2 bpg at Kentucky playing 21 mpg. If you are good people will notice. He got to play on a championship caliber team and go against future NBA players in practice every day in practice. It shows he wanted to compete for playing time and win. It seems like more guys are doing the team up thing which offers the best of both worlds like duke where they get all the playing time they want while also competing for a championship. Cal, Duke, LSU, and Kentucky got multiple top 17 players.

T RexEven though the Lakers famously blew the #2 pick, I think Lakers fans should actually be very excited about Jonathan Holmes.
Don’t be surprised if he’s better than Randle this year and going forward.
He’s a great shooter for a big, with NBA 3 point range.
I think he can shoot 35+% on high volume, even as a rookie.
Would have been a perfect fit next to Okafor.
