[WITNESS2014Participant]

I know about a month ago the Buckeyes picked up 2014 shooting guard D’ Angelo Russell. I never heard of him until they got him but on espn hes a top 20 recruit. I saw a little bit of his highlights, but thats all i really know about him or seen of him. Some sites have him as a 5 star and listed from 6’3 to 6’4. I was seeing if anybody on here knew anything about this kid. Or give me their insight. As top sg im excited to have him with my buckeyes.

Recently at a skills camp he was measured 6’5 in shoes with a solid wingspan I can’t remember what it was. He is a versatile player who has a money stroke from the 3 point line.Can handle the ball well for a 6’5 player he often would bring the ball up when Kasey hill couldn’t last year. He is a great pick up for OSU.

I really like his game. He’s a very skilled, lengthy combo. He was measured at 6’5 with a 6’9 wingspan and still could be growing. He’s got all the skills though. He can shoot, pass, handle. He’s coming around on the defensive side too, but with his length he’s got good potential on that end. He can run the point, plays with a great pace and has good vision. Very smooth, almost too smooth. He’s not explosive but he’s rangy with long strides, very good change of speed and direction, great use of fakes and footwork to find angles for shots.
Needs to start filling out though. Very thin and gangly. Can get knocked off his stride. Wasn’t as aggressive or consistent last yr for Montverde. He wasn’t the primary ball-handler (Kasey Hill was) and they were a very inside oriented team with Dakari Johnson and Devin Williams manning the paint. His team was a very well-coached team and pretty disciplined at running their stuff, which was primarily inside out stuff. He’ll have an opportunity to run more point this yr which is what I think he wants to be.
