‘True Center’ is up for interpretation, I think with Randle and Mirotic in New Orleans we can now officially add AD, unless you are calling Randle the Center.

    1. Anthony Davis- can’t be played off the floor, dark horse MVP bet.

    2. Joel Embiid- dominant defender, good offensive player, will need to improve efficiency in the post to stay on floor against smaller teams (surprisingly strong mid-range shooter)

    3. Jokic- almost guarantees a top 5 offense, forcing the opposition in to mostly half court opportunities, diminishing his defensive weakness.

    4. KAT- probably the most skilled big in the game, but is lacking effort on defense and assertiveness on offense. Jimmy Butler is one of the hardest workers in the game, and his view of KAT says something.

    5. Gobert- the best rim protector in the game, needs to improve as a facillitator to reach any higher on the list.

    6. Boogie- Achilles injuries are tough, I would expect him to be ~80% of his previous peak at first, hard to know if he makes full recovery. Can still be elite without his full athleticism.

    7. Horford- more valuable in the playoffs than in the regular season, may be rated too low.

    8. Clint Capela- elite role player who may peak young due to reliance on athleticism.

    9. Drummond- surprised with passing and free throw improvements last year, still needs to improve defensive awareness.

    10. Steven Adams- elite rebounder who plays within himself, hard to judge his full capabilities in his current situation.

    Others for Consideration:

    a. Kevin Love- likely to play the 4 this season, would be a 5 on a better team, would be slotted above Drummond.

    b. Kristaps Porzingis- likely a 5 after returning from injury, would also rank above Drummond, upside to rank in top 5 if he retains mobility.

    c. LaMarcus Aldridge- played center 62% of the time last year according to bball-ref, would also rank above Drummond, more useful in regular season than playoffs.

I wouldnt call AD a dark horse at all to win the MVP, he is 2nd favourite and favourite with some bookies.

That’s fair, I could certainly seeing him being the most valuable player in fantasy leagues, the road to a top 4 seed for New Orleans looks tough without some really good injury luck.

As for Capela versus Drummond, tell that to Gobert and KAT whom Capela completely outplayed in the playoffs. Drummond has similar athleticism in a superior frame, but his shot selection is worse and he doesn’t switch nearly as well as Capela. He’s capable of being better, but at the moment, he is not.

    5. KAT

    6. Jokic

    7. Capela

    8. Jordan

    9. Adams

    10. Ayton

Al Horford, Anthony Davis and Draymond Green could all get lumped in as 5s here too but I think they are asked to play 5 rather than being traditional centers.

Cousins tore his achilles so I’m leaving him off my list entirely. Noone knows how or when he will return.

Im probably gonna get destroyed for this list but Towns and Jokic play no defence. Your Center has to be playing defence especially nowadays. Towns is bad but at least he tries late in the 4th in close games. Jokic just lets guys walk past him its terrible. Those guys are mindblowing offensively but when your talking about C’s I need mine to defend.

    1. Joel Embiid

    2.Rudy Gobert

    3.Al Horford

    4.Marc Gasol

    5.Karl Anthony Towns

    6.Nikola Jokic

    7.Clint Capela

    8.Jonas Valanciunas

    9.Deandre Jordan

    10.Steven Adams

    HM Andre Drummond

Any love for Myles Turner??? I’d have him over Jonas, Drummond and Adams given his ability to stretch the floor, he is also a hell of a shot-blocker.

I don’t think he’s top ten yet, but I think he will be after this season. I expect him to be a MIP candidate.

    1. Davis 2. Embiid 3. Cousins (when healthy) 4. KAT 5. Jokic 6. Porzingis (I think you have to label him as center and it’s kind of tough to rank him based on his injury) 7. Gobert (knows his role and plays it better than anyone in the league but can be a liability on offense and even on defense against the best teams) 8. Horford 9. Gasol 10. Jordan (basically ditto for Gobert) 11. Capela (not sure what his ceiling is or if he’s already reached it) 12. Drummond (supremely talented but just hasn’t put it all together yet and I question if he ever will at this point) 13. Adams 14. Turner 15. Ayton (can’t put him any higher at this point)
