goneParticipantHenry Abbott made this trying to prove Kobe’s un-clutchness. I think its misleading…

BKKnicksfanParticipantThe reason is because Clutch is stupid. Many people believe it’s taking the final shot, which it is not. Clutch is the ability to perform within the final 5 mintues of a game.
As for Kobe, he is one of the top 10 guys. He’s good late but lets not act as if he never messed up late in a close game. I personally think the whole "KOBE is better then Lebron because he’s clutch" thing is foolish because even last season, I’d argue Ron Artest had the 2 most clutch moments for the Lakers last season (Game 7, which Kobe bombed and Game 5 vs Phoenix where he made the GW). Lebron is more clutch then Kobe.

mikeyvthedonParticipantThough I am still giving Kobe the final shot. It does little to sway me on Kobe’s ability to score the basketball in clutch situations. It just kind of points out that in those situations, most players are usually less than average shooters. With the absence of Paul Pierce, I think he had a certain number of shots you needed to take within the last 24 seconds of a 1 or 2 point game. So, maybe Paul did not fit the criteria, still has nothing to do with his clutch ability. Henry Abbott is actually someone who comes up with some interesting points more often than not. While I like most would have Kobe shooting the last shot over anyone else, he at least backs up why he wouldn’t. Still, never names another player he would rather have and he still never says Kobe is not a great player, clutch or otherwise. But, to all the people that use Kobe as the end all be all of play in the last few minutes, just know he may take the most opportunities, but he does not necessarily capitalize on them at the highest rate. To many people, I guess that is good enough to call Kobe the best and hate on players that choose to pass up the last shot for the best play.

llperezi think you have to look at the final 5 minutes not just the final seconds. While its true kobe misses tons of those last second shots, one reason is he always takes the last shot and many times he is unable to get a good look or he gets the ball in a tough spot on the floor. Lots of other players will get looked off if they arent wide open or they will pass if they dont have clean look. Lakers make a point of getting kobe the ball no matter how open he is or if there is a better option thus his percentages take a hit.
