halfdecayedParticipantRead an article on bleacher report and caccording to Marc Stein, CP3 already started to recruit Lebron after the Rockets game 7 loss. The interesting point to me was that they could offer Ryan Anderson, Eric Gordon and a first round pick to Cleveland in exchange for James (he would opt in his last year at 35.6 million). With this trade, they could also pay Capela around 20-25 millions and get creative and resign CP3 and Ariza. They’d probably end up with little dept on the bench, but Golden State showed us it’s possible.
A lineup with CP3-Harden-Tucker-James-Capela would be pretty tough for anyone to match up with. Thoughts?

xJumpManxParticipantCP3 is always hurt, Harden chokes as hard as Kevin Love in big games and finally James hates Harden he was the one who took a cheap shot and punched James in the Balls. James is not leaving. Everytime people talk about it this is what the third year now he will sign the one and option year to keep the cavs on their toes.

treytalkssports.comParticipantI’m sure you have an unbiased opinion, based on your picture.
James knows that the Cavs do not offer him the best opportunity to win, unless they were able to trade for a star (unlikely given where the Net pick landed).
With the rise of the Cs and the Sixers, and possibly even the Bucks, the King’s ability to compete on the Cavs is severly hampered.
Unless George and Kawhi get to the Lakers, I could definitely see him pushing to get traded to the Rockets. Gordon is not an all-star, but he is a nice piece. The problem is that the Cavs would still be deep in the luxury tax, and Gilbert won’t be willing to do that in a rebuild, which means Anderson would have to be rerouted to a 3rd team, but that is unlikely given there are so few teams that can take that much salary this off-season.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantPoor Cavs fan.
LEBRON IS GONE.
Looks at the video of Dan Gilbert trying to shake his hand after winning the ECF. Cavs have TERRIBLE contracts on the books. I would even argue that he is gone regardless of any miracle situation where he wins it this year.
Looks like the Cavs with be as irrelevant as my Sonics next year.

whiteflashParticipantLBJ isn’t going to the Western conference, and he ONE HUNDRED PERCENT isn’t going to the Rockets. Paul and Harden staggered their minutes a ton and only played around 17 minutes a night together. Adding another primary ball handler won’t work. Harden is COMPLETELY ineffective without the ball, and has to dribble the air out of it to get anything done. Houston’s entire offense would shift to James being the primary ball handler, and all of Harden’s iso’s and 15+ second possessions would disappear. It would be a disaster.

The GoatParticipantAm i the only one that thinks CP3 is overrated? Hes always had full control of every team he’s had and hes never won. Hes never really accomplished anything despite having alpha all star teamates. He can shoot, pass and defend, he has basketball IQ, but how high can that IQ be if he cant figure out how to get over the line? I understand injury robbed him of a good chance this year, but it doesnt seem like he has ever changed his game or the way his team plays. He didnt change this year either – D’Antoni forced him to change. This gave him his best year to date. I understand the coach considerably dictates team play, but individuals with the ball in their hand that much have the power to implement things as well. CP3 definitely has had that chance.
To me, hes a very good player, but hes more Hardaway, KJ, Russ level than Magic, Isiah and Stockton..

publius2481ParticipantThere is a big problem I see in this scenario; Houston will have to give up way more than one first round pick to buy Cleveland’s help. Cleveland would be well over the tax line (just doing some quick estimating 17-22 million over) next year if they did this deal, kept the 8th pick, and filled the rest of the roster with minimum salary guys. They would be over the tax line (although not nearly as much) in 2019-2020 since both Anderson and Gordon have 2 years left on their deal. Now, they could stretch Anderson, which would likely allow them to get under the tax line in 2019-2020 and possibly next year if they decided to rebuild and trade other players. Given the amount of money it would cost Cleveland, I cannot see them agreeing to this deal, especially since Houston’s pick (they do not have any extra first rounders) would likely be a bottom 5 pick next year. Cleveland will demand multiple first round picks (my guess is they would ask for Houston’s 2019, 2021, and 2023 first rounders, so this trade would have to offcially occur after the draft). I know this is not an apples to apples comparison given the rise of revenues, but the amount owed Anderson is almost equal to what Boston took on when Humphries and Gerald Wallace were taken on as part of the Celtics hiest.

HobbyOGParticipantWhy would the cavs want Ryan Anderson contract??? And a first round pick wouldn’t help, it will be near the end of the first. I don’t see this happening. And Bron already dumped one injury prone guard in Miami (wade) why would he want to play with another injured guard in Paul??

r377ParticipantHow is lebron and harden going to play together ?
Are they bringing in a new rule next season where there will be two balls on the court at once ?

cohenbc1ParticipantI’d say that players as smart and talented as Harden, CP3 and LeBron will figure it out … except that Harden and CP3 never really figured it out. They figured out how to stagger their minutes and take turns dribbling the air out the ball, but they never really figured out how to make each other more dangerous than they had ever been before.
