This guy is really growing on me, and I think he could even become an early entry candidate in 2013. He has an NBA body with broad shoulders and has a very similar build to Thomas Robinson. In addition, he’s been producing at a very impressive clip lately, against good competition. He’s coming off..

13/16 against a solid BYU team and Brandon Davis
    13/7 against Gonzaga
25/10 against Texas ( 11/14 from the line)
17/8 against TTU ( I know they’re bad, but he did it on 7-9 shooting )

He had 10/5 and 5 blocks against Kentucky earlier in the year too.

He’s not a guy who is going to re-invent the wheel, but he has what it takes to be a Trevor Booker/ Jason Caffey in the NBA. I feel he’d be a very safe pick in the late 1st or early 2nd round.

I’ve been big on Cory Jefferson for a while now… He’s always been buried on their bench behind talent. He doesnt have the greatest skillset, but he does have an NBA body and is a big time athlete at right around 6’11. His motor is good also and can be a back up in the league for a lot of teams.

I have never seen 6’11, always 6’9. He does play bigger with his bulk and excellent length. I posted about him awhile ago, thinking he should come out. I think he has the potential to be way better NBA player than Trevor Booker or Jason Caffey. NBA strength trainers will only improve on his build. Love his athleticism and his movement combined with that size. I think he is vastly underrated. Most people think I’m crazy but I’ll take him over Cody Zeller.

D-League All Star..His offense is very raw,has bad hands, poor footwork and he lacks strength…..But you have to love the way he plays defense…A guy that gives 100% on defense will find his way on a nba roster…Could mid-to late 2nd round pick,if he comes out….But i hope he sticks around and try to improve his game..But he’s 22 and might think its time to move on…..

I see on Baylor’s official team site that he’s listed at 6’9 210. How recent is that measurement? He looks bigger than that, at least heavier. But if true, he’s less of an intriguing prospect since he’s already the age of a college senior. Thin jumping jacks can still make it to the an NBA roster, but they need more to their game to stick. Just look at someone like JaJuan Johnson, who has similar size and athleticism. Not only could he block shots, but unlike Cory he could shoot jumpers out to college 3 as well and he’s already out of the league now.

Cory’s basically reprising Quincy Acy’s role from last yr, although Acy was a bit tougher IMO. Acy managed to get drafted early 2nd. If he were to declare I’d probably take him closer to mid 2nd.

Yea he looks bigger and taller to me. And Quincy was an animal, dunked any and everything. Jefferson can certainly get drafted in the 2nd round. He’s legitimately 3-4 inches taller than Quincy

was very thin. Acy and CJ are built better for the contact. You don’t see many finesse guys coming off the bench in the post. They tend to be bangers who can eat up minutes, grab some boards and hand out some fouls. Some guys have carved out great careers doing just that, and even developed a go to move here and there (think Kurt Thomas and his 12-15 ft J). Different body types than JuJuan, at least in my eyes.

Jason Caffey was a solid backup who spot started for many years, especially with the Bulls. Was a decent rebounder and shot blocker who had a good post game, though wasn’t a worldbeater. Teams can do worse than drafting a Caffey, Turiaf type guy who hangs around for 6-10 years. Another good comparison for the guys who go back far enough… Mark Bryant? Similar build, similar game (though Bryant had a nasty streak-don’t know yet about CJ).

Much like Quincy Acy, it took a checking of the roster to first recognize him after he bulked up/filled out. He now looks like someone with a position as opposed to an arms and legs guy who really didn’t have a fit. Both he and Baylor as a whole have really been impressive this year. I always worry about overvaluing guys offense when it is contingent on others getting them dunks and layups (see the problem with Thomas Robinson getting them in Sacramento) but at a point there is little risk to taking a grinder. In this coming draft (if Jefferson would choose to enter), who knows how early that could be.
