Yes you read it right UN watchable.

College basketball is currently in a neutral state where the balance of power is spread through out the Conferences.  You have 5-10 teams that can win it at all from Duke, MSU, OSU etc..  There is also the annual sleeper teams that arise out of no where that surprise us with the likes of SDSU, Uconn, etc.  This provides us with a very entertaining tournament filled with surprise and brakcet busters.

    But…

In the 2011-2012 season things are going to change and unfortunately for the worse.  No longer will there be 5-10 teams but it will be down to just 2 teams.  There will be no need to talk of sleeper teams that arise during the season because these 2 teams will be the definition of contender. The only game to watch next year will be the championship game.  That is how bad the separate in talent will be amongst the NCAA. 2 teams filled up and down with NBA talent and skill.  If you follow the recruiting world you already know who these two teams are.  Yes im talking about Duke and UK, they will ruin College Basketball for all next year.

    Duke:

With the injury to Kyrie Irving making it almost certain he returns for his second year at Duke.  Also, with Nolan smith and Singler leaving these would seem to be big key losses.  But in comes one of the nations best recruiting classes to complement a veteran team.  Lead by Rivers this team has potential to have a first rounder in every position, not to mention a bench.

The starting line up makes them clear cut favorites to win it all

    PG: Soph. Kyrie Irving

    SG: Fresh. Austin Rivers

    SF: Fresh. Gbinjie

    PF: Sr. Plumlee

    C: Junior: Plumee

Bench: Simply Amazing to put it

    Kentucky:

This team is shining even without it star recruit in Enes Kanter.  With the emergance of Lamb and the steady play of Knight this team continues to grow.  It is clear that Jones will be joining the NBA after this season and most likely Knight.  But that isnt going to hold this team from dominating next year.  The recruiting class makes you tremble staring at it, imagine how it will feel having them play your favorite team.

    Starting Line up

PG: Fresh. Marquise Teague (With a slight chance of  Soph. Brandon Knight)

    SG: Soph. Doron Lamb

    SF: Fresh. Michael Gilchrist

    PF: Fresh. Anthony Davis

    C: Soph. Enes Kanter

Bench: All americans and 1st rounder line the bench

This team is young but far to talented not to succeed.  Many people say it will take time to gain chemistry but that was said about this years team and they are already shining so imagine if Knight , Lamb and Kanter come back to provide that Experience.

A boring season is ahead of us, but exciting to see if these two teams can run the table and have the first ever undefeated National Championship game.

lol…this is laughable. The great thing about college basketball is the tournament where the be3st team doesn’t always win. College basketball will NEVER be unwatchable. Speak for you’re self because i doubt you will have many if any agree with you.

Another thing is you have no idea if these freshmen will live up to the hype. They could easily come in and play like Felipe Lopez or Barnes, play well but not great

And that Duke lineup isn’t simply amazing. Gibinji isn’t even gonna start, he’s good but im not sure you have ever watched him play. Dawkins is better then he is right now. The back court is "potentially" good Carolina’s front court with Henson Zeller, barnes, macadoo,Bullock sounds better

louisville will be formidable as will Syracuse,Kansas and add some other teams that will step up like they do every year(this year uconn)

It’s SUPER unlikely for college hoops to get to a point where it’s unwatchable.

It will become unwatchable when instead of feilding and playing the tournament, they decide that voter polls and a computer system is a better way to determine the 2 teams that will play for the national championship…..

Those two teams will be the favorites, yes.

BUT when its tournament time, ANY team can beat ANY other team on ANY day. You lose one game and you’re out.

Sure duke and UK will be better than anyone, but its not like the chance that UK or Duke will win the national championship is better than the chance that any other team in the country will win it.

the field always has a better chance to win than a single team does.

We’re not talking Federer in his prime or Tiger in his prime, We’re talking a 64 team tournament where anyone can cut down the nets…

Additionally, neither team will be undefeated. The rigors of an ACC or SEC schedule will give them each at least one L

with a NBA lockout likely I don’t see how people just aren’t going to watch basketball at all. I can see many NBA fans getting into NCAA ball.

This is one of the worst posts that someone actually put time into making.  I would apologize, but really I’m just hating on this post, apparently you haven’t been watching college hoops very long. It takes at least some veteran leadership to win an NCAA title, the teams who bring in the best freshmen don’t always take it.

Well first of all, the injury to Irving far from "makes it almost certain he will come back," I would say it’s still unlikely that he is back, but the injury means that there is a chance.

Secondly, I’m not entirely sure that that lineup would be all that much better than Duke’s lineup this year before Kyrie got hurt. Maybe a freshman Rivers will be better than a senior smith, but maybe not. Gbinje will not be better than Singler in any capacity. I would look for the lineup next year to most likely be(If KI doesn’t return):

    Cook

    Rivers

    Dawkins

    Plumlee

    Plumlee

With Seth Curry playing starters minutes off the bench.

I’m on the east coast and I’ll watch Long Beach State play Oakland at 11:00 p.m. any day of the week.  College basketball is never boring to me.  Even if it’s two fairly insignificant teams that I have no attachment to I’ll watch it and find a side and/or a player to pull for.

What makes college basketball unwatchable for me are the never ending parade of TV timeouts. In addition to all of the team timeouts, the game is stopped four times per half at the 16, 12, 8, and 4 minute marks. And it’s not unsual to see a TV Timeout immediately follow a Team Timeout.

    The above insanity:

    • reduces the importance of team depth
    • destroys the ebb and flow of a game
    • seriously reduces one’s enjoyment of college basketball
    • reinforces the prevailing view of GREED on the part of the NCAA

Think about it guys, even if they stopped the game 3 times per half for commercials, that would reduce the total number from 8 to 6 TV Timeouts and eliminate about ten minutes of idiotic commericals.

Seth will start over cook. Cook is good but he’s not Irving. With Seth being in the duke system for 2 years and his game being a year better i just can’t see Cook beating him for that starting spot

No question the TV timeouts suck.  I usually record and start watching about 20 minutes after tip-off so I can fast forward through commercials/half-time and catch-up by the end of the game.
