After CP3 moved on and trading away Blake Griffin, it looked as if the Clippers would go into a rebuilding period. But despite missing out on play offs they still won a respectable 42 games and this was even more remarkable as key players Patrick Beverley and Danilo Gallinari only playing 11 and 21 games respectively. Plus Avery Bradley missed the run in after season ending surgery.

The Clippers have defensive anchor DeAndre Jordan as a FA this summer. Jordan has been with the Clippers for a decade and famously backed out of a deal to join Dallas to remain with them a few years back. But he turns 30 this summer so this will be a key deal for him and he is a top 30 paid NBA player so is likely looking at something starting at well over $25 million a year likely to be about $28 million a year. Whether the Clippers would want to commit huge money to Jordan over a 5 year deal would be interesting.

After next season they will have very good cap space so a rebuild can be done but they are a team above 0,500 and if they can get Bradley, Beverley and especially Gallo fit alongside Harris and a retained Jordan they have a very solid workman like team.

Picks 13 and 14 in a lottery are decent and for a workman like team they could add a couple of good players who would have good mentors around them. The trade up options could be there but until we see the lottery balls we won’t know exactly who may do a deal.

14 and 13 together I’d feel would equate to about 6th spot. They wouldn’t get a very top guy but they could get a shot at a couple out of Porter, Bamba, Young, Carter etc.

If a team had fallen back in the lottery they might look at a trade down. I don’t see Cavs trading down, they’d likely take BPA, Kings have traded down before and have no 2019 first of their own so would likely go BPA. Chicago could be an option if they felt they could get complimentary guys in around their young core and one of the guys at 6/7 didn’t jump out at them.

In a deep draft it’s probably worth getting two guys on rookie deals. They draft right and they will instantly be a 50 win team. Mitchell was found in this draft range last year and this is a deeper draft.

If they do decide to trade up, can they trade Gallinari and one (or even their two) picks to get up to Luka Doncic?

Beverley Bradley Doncic Harris Jordan – 3 great defenders and two great offensive players in Harris and point forward Doncic

With Gallo’s injuries and 2yrs/44mil left on his deal I don’t think he gives you plus value in a trade.

I don’t think they’ll be able to retain Bradley. He’s looking to get paid and it may be more than the Clips are willing to pay.

This is the hard part all depends on who is making the scouting choices and GM choices…

Deandre-If you are going to pay him top dollar you try lock him for only 3 years as he will most likely start declining athetlically after that and hasn’t developed much offensive game to last longer than that at a high level.

The draft picks…The problem with the Clippers is with the exception of Blake,E.G,Bledsoe and D.J they have flopped on a lot of picks.

Which doesn’t make me have high hopes for them in that department unless they some how or way luck into a top 10 prospect within their trading range or drafting range. It also depends on if you are going Re-Tool or Rebuild to what you are aiming for though also. Because they could do a high pick for D.J(sign and trade) and one of their picks for all we know….

Danilo Gallinari is a white Carmelo Anthony – he is overpaid and doesn’t do much but shoot the ball

DeAndre for 3 years makes sense, if we was after 5 maybe they comprmise on 4 with last year being a player option. The Clippers will also have good cap space in 2019 so a lot of thought needs to go into future plans.

With a trade up idea I was thinking might they try to get Bamba and then they could effectively not have to worry if Jordan decides to walk.
