I don’t get why he’s not rated as a top fifteen prospect in the upcoming draft.  He’s 6’11" and 220 lbs. with elite physical abilities.  He still has a ton of potential on the offensive and defensive end of the floor.  I get that his effort and maturity aren’t ther yet, but he’s only 19 years old.  I don’t think that Trey Lyles, WCS, or Montrezl Harrell are better prospects than him.  If he comes back for his junior season, which is something he is strongly considering, how high could he go?

I think it’s rare, though not impossible for a player to improve his stock coming back for another year of college basketball.  Cauley-Stein and Frank the tank being some exceptions.  I would encourage him to come out as no matter when he comes out he’s likely in the 10-20 range.

The quicker you get to the NBA, the quicker you get NBA training against NBA competition.  Another year at UNLV won’t do his game any good.

I had him ranked 13 in my last top 14.I think he underated is because Aran views him in that CJ Leslie mold which he doesnt like and neither lot of others. I on the other hand always was a CJ fan beacuse he looked incredible in CB. Christian is 6’11 with like a 7’4 wingspan while moving like a SF at times although his body is still geting built. He has that do everything on the court versatility, he can shoot, score inside off passes and tip ins, handle the rock (coast to coast). Furthermore, he is a great prospect because of his potential defensively, someone who can trouble the inside offense because of his will to contest shots while being so big and mobile.

I like his skill closer to Donte Greene rather C.J. Leslie.

Falls inlove with his outside shot too much while not being overly great from deep, and doesn’t strong enough at the ring. Needs to put on weight and improve his shot selection some, which are things he can improve on quicker in an NBA environment, and I don’t think he falls out of the first round. IMO best if he comes out this year and in a couple years time could end up being a steal.

    1.  I’m not so sure about SF. You usually like a SF who can drive. He pulled Arizona’s slow center, Tarczewski, to the 3 point line, repeatedly tried to drive on him, and could barely get around him. I think putting on a bunch of muscle is necessary because he’ll be a PF and he’d be great. I love his mid-range moves. I think he wants to be Kevin Durant, but no one is. He might end up with a similar style of offensive (which you can’t complain about) and he’ll block shots. Since they are pretty comparable in position, range, defense, and build, it would have been really interesting to see him go up against Myles Turner this year. If you’re an NBA team and you miss out on Turner, Wood is a great consolation.

He’s got some Greek Freak to him. His body is identical, and his game isn’t too far off. Athleticism probably a step below Greek Freak but still good with that length.

13 points and 10 rebounds last night against the Knicks. 76ers were a great landing spot for Wood.

D’Angelo Russell shouldn’t have tricked the Buss family, because he might have ended up a better player than Wood. Still not likely though.

I love Wood’s game because he has so much versatility. He’s really shown the ability to be a stretch 4 and knock down the midrange jumpshot and 3 as well. His problem is he sticks around the 3 point line too much instead of staying at that freethrow line area/elbow area where his game would be better suited. He has nice ballhandling ability as a 6’11" PF, but really needs to work on his passing because he hasn’t shown to be a good passer in CBB. He might skinny, but the one thing that Wood has is toughness. Against teams like Arizona and SDSU he showed the ability to hang with their physicality and that’s something you want to see in a player like Wood who doesn’t have much mass yet. He has a nice frame at 6’10" and with a 7’3" wingspan and good NBA athleticism in terms of quickness and explosiveness. He uses that 7’3" wingspan to his advantage because he averages almost 2 blocks per game.  With all his skills and the fact that he is still only a Sophmore that will soon begin to fill out I say he goes in the 12-24 range. He reminds me a lot of Adreian Payne from Michigan State.
