I know the Bobcats haven’t traditionally done well in the draft, but I feel like this years draft has the pieces that could send them in the right direction.

The clear needs for this team would be interior defense and scoring.. so why not try this out:

With the 9th pick draft Klay Thompson

and with the 19th pick draft Bismack Biyombo, who seems to be slipping in a lot of mocks

then try and move up to the beginning of the 2nd round and draft Malcolm Lee

I know there are definite question marks with guys like Biyombo and Lee, but Biyombo could be the next Ben Wallace. Could be the strong interior defense that they’ve been looking for. And Malcolm Lee is an excellent defender who the Bobcats can play at both guard positions. We all know that DJ Augustin isn’t the best defender at the point guard position so bring in long defender like Lee to become a rotation player. And drafting Klay Thompson would bring an excellent compliment to Stephen Jackson. A pure shooter with very crafty moves that remind some people of Reggie Miller (Not saying he’s going to be Reggie, cause Reggie’s one of the greatest, but you have to admit there are some similarities)

So just wanted to throw that out there… any comments or anything about these thoughts

I think this would be two great picks for Charlotte, and I agree with your reasoning.

I don’t think Biyombo would slip pass #14 for the Rockets.

Great picks if they can actually pull it off.

Any reason nbadraft.net has Biyombo slipping all the way to 21 in the latest mock?

I have them taking Kawhi Leonard and Nikola Vucevic in the first round.

I really like the idea of Alec Burks with the #9.  They need scoring, Jax can play the 3, and Burks can also create for others.  Add in a big at #19, top one left, and you have a good draft.

Take Kiawhi Leonard at 9 and if Kenneth Faired is still there at 19 take him or Biyombo.

and please Michael do NOT bring Jimmer or the Morris twins to Charlotte!

I’d go with either Jonas Valanciunas at 9 (if available) and Marshon Brooks at 19 (if available) or Alec Burks paired with either Tobias Harris or Josh Selby.

In Valanciunas you have a defensive presence at the very least who can challenge Kwame for the starting spot, and be developed by Silas while he’s around, and Marshon Brooks is that scorer they need, even if he is a little older than say Burks.

Burks is one of the players with legitimate star potential, he’s great in isolation situations and gets to the line frequently, two things which are vital to any star. Pairing him with Selby (star potential, aggressive, competitive) works because Burks can handle some of the playmaking like James Harden does in OKC and allow Selby to be that Westbrook type of scorer from the PG position at times. Tobias Harris is simply a solid, versatile guy who should be a role-player/starter at the very least.

Just my thoughts, I really want MJ to get this one right so the team has some upswing for the future, or things could get messy in Charlotte.
