Centres – Lauri Markkanen, Zach Collins, Bam, John Collins, Jarrett Allen, Justin Patton.

What do you think of each one as a prospect, how do you think they will fair in the pros ?

    My thoughts:

The top 3 are all quite even.

1 Jarrett Allen – I’ve been high on him for months, its about time the mock “experts” caught up. I think he can be a starter in the league. Nice shooting touch, can extend the defense with long 2’s, but not really a 3 point shooter. Good defender and can block shots. myles turner / Rasheed Wallace type without the 3 ball.

2T Zach Collins – I quite like Collins. Decent speed and agile for a white guy. Good IQ, fundamentals and defense. I am not getting too carried away with him. He is foul prone and a lot of his baskets were made around the rim on competitors 2-4 inches shorter than him.

2T Lauri Markkanen – Not a good defender and not overly quick but is a very good 3 point shooter. I see him as borderline starter, prob a 6th or 7th man. Ryan Anderson / Kamisky type. Not good value taking him top 5 but outside of the top 10 would be ok.

4 Justin Patton – good IQ, few posts moves and good shot blocker, prob a 6 or 7th man similar value to John Henson.

5 Bam – Good rebounder, should have enough value to have a decent career in the NBA

6 John Collins – not a good defender but good shooting touch and good IQ in offense. I think he will struggle to make it in the league. He won’t be a starter or get alot of minutes = role player. Will prob spend some time in the D-League..

Bam looked good in the college game, but I’m worried he might be Sheldon Williams 2.0. It is a very real possibility that his contributions at the NBA level will equal out to an energy rebounder, which is a 2nd round pick, not a 1st.

Collins showed some nice post moves, along with good athleticism. I agree he is foul prone, but he has 3 years to figure it out while playing limited minutes before any team asks him to play a major role.

Justin Patton is someone I am very interested in. But I see there is also potential to be Patrick O’Bryant 2.0. I still would take him in 1st round, but I don’t think he’s a sure thing.

Markkanen will never play center in the NBA. I question if he is strong enough to guard 4’s, let alone 5s. Interested in who ends up better between Hartlestein/Marrkanen. Hartle seems more big man oriented and Markk seems more wing oriented.

You said centers but John Collins isn’t and will not be a center. Zach Collins, on the other hand, is arguably the best big man prospect in this draft.

You guys view Markannen as a Center? I feel like hell spend more time gaurding Power Forward.

I don’t see them Bam love at all.  He’s supremely gifted physically, especially for an 18-19 year old, but he’s got no real skills other than rebounding.
