Celtics vs Lakers package for AD

Can some1 enlighten me on why the Celtics have more desirable assets than the Lakers ? Lakers have Lonzo, Ingram, Kuzma, Hart, Svi, Wagner and picks.

Celtics have Brown, Tatum (they say he's untouchable), picks, Rozier and Moriss are free agents this summer, Hayward's awful contract, Horford has a player option..

To me the Lakers simply have more to offer. Depends on how high you are on Tatum I guess, but still.. Lebron / AD combo would def be more lethal than a Kyrie / AD combo anyway.

Assets

It's not just "picks," the Celtics have:

The Kings pick this year (probably 9-15 range), the Grizz pick this year (9-15 range), the Clippers pick either this year or next year if they make the playoffs, along with all of their own picks. The Lakers just have their own picks.

The Pelicans are likely rebuilding if they trade AD, and it's easier to rebuild with draft picks than players who are closer to extensions. Players like Ingram and Jaylen Brown won't stay cheap for long, and the difference between paying AD $40M and Ingram $27M is a lot in returned value.

The Lakers young players look good, but they are also somewhat odd fits on the Pels, particularly Lonzo (Jrue), Kuzma (Defense), and Wagner (Defense).

Likely packages would be something like:

Boston: Baynes, Smart, Brown, Kings pick (~12), Clips pick (~15), Celts pick (~26)

LA: Ingram, Hart, KCP, Wagner, LA pick (~23).

NO with Celts package:

1- Jrue

2- Smart

3- Brown

4- Mirotic

5- Baynes

6th man- Randle, 4 first round picks

NO with LA package:

1- Jrue

2- Hart

3- Ingram

4-Mirotic

5- Randle

6th man- Moore, + 2 first round picks

hmm

Ok how is Lonzo and odd fit next to Jrue when Jrue and Rondo played very very well together lol ? Rondo's playmaking is clearly missing this year for the Pels and Lonzo would not only fix that but also Jrue and Lonzo's D on the backcourt would be prettty freaking solid.. I'd prefer Lonzo, Hart and Ingram than your celtics package.

Jrue

Jrue did well last year but I'd say he's playing even better this year. The Pelicans are currently 4th in offense versus 10th last year. Playmaking is not the issue, depth is.

Ball and Rondo both may be pass-first, but they do it in very different ways. Rondo wants to drive and dish, Lonzo wants to hit ahead in transition and attack close outs. If you want Jrue playing off the ball, having Ingram initiate their offense makes more sense than Lonzo, and I would rather have Jrue do it than either of them.

I would also be surprised if LA offered both Ingram and Ball (similar to Boston offering Tatum and Brown). AD can still leave when his contract is up, and most teams don't want to mortgage all of their young talent.

The other thing is, Ainge can

The other thing is, Ainge can afford to overpay for Davis, and he if we wants him that badly, he will.

He could offer something nuts like Brown, Rozier, Tatum, Ojeleye, Baynes, Kings pick, Grizz pick, Clips pick and still end up with:

Kyrie Smart Hayward Davis Horford

Bench - Morris Williams

They'd still have their own pick

i like that

the pelicans have to cash in now and I think the celtics have the potential best offer. Keep Tatum out of that trade and I think celtics should do it.

I didn't see anybody here

I didn't see anybody here mention the most important wrinkle of all - Celtics can't trade for him before July because of the Rose rule, can't have two designated players on the team (Kyrie and AD), unless they trade Kyrie of course, which is not happening.

That means all of their this years' picks become players, at which point their value is significantly lower. And the draft is bad anyway outside of top 5 maybe. Celtics are gonna have to include both Tatum and Brown in order to make it work, Brown + role players and late picks just won't cut it. And Rozier is a free agent.

We might not even get to that point if AD asks for a trade before the trade deadline, and the Pels like the Lakers' offer. Everybody knows his future is not in NOLA.

the picks

great point that hasn't really been mentionned on the media. These picks will have to interest NOLA and this isn't a very deep draft.. Memphis and Sacramento are doing good too so.. Sorry C's

Great point

Brian Windhorst has said that at ESPN the other day. But there is another one. NOLA have the ability to pay AD 70 million more dollars than anyone. I think he´ll take that and stay in. I hope he does.
