ChrischiParticipantAmare says "FUCK YOU" to everyone who said he is only a product of Nash and fast paced basketball. His ability to create for himself is sick. Probably the 2nd best in the league behind Dirk. Against Denver he took over in the 4th quarter offensivly.
But the Knicks will still struggle on the next level. They don’t need a Melo or CP3 imo. They need a coach that teaches them not to take silly jumpers with 19secs left on the shotclock and how to play defense. Adding to this they need a Center that can play defense with like 30mpg, if not Amare will always struggle with fouls – or play bad defense because he doesn’t want to get fouls like in the 4th quarter against Denver.

ShekiruBoomParticipanthonestly i think coaching is overrated. I think the most important part of a team’s success is the players. i do not remember any coaching change that brought a team "over the hump" but i remember several trades that put the team over the top. I mean i could be wrong but i think the Knicks need a roster upgrade not a coaching upgrade to be a serious contender

Have you heard of Rockets coach Rick Adelman?
Can you really tell me that a line up ofAaron Brooks
Ron Artest
Shane Battier
Luis Scola (6’8)
Chuck Hayes (6’5)can take the eventual champion L.A. Lakers to game 7 without Rick Adelman’s coaching?
Fisher
Kobe

ChrischiParticipantI didn’t mean that. I think that a Melo or CP3 wouldn’t be enough to be a real contender on Lakers & Celtics level. And!!! You can always say: Add a CP3 to that team and they will be better. But it is tough to get such a quality player like that. That’s why I said: Start playing D and play a little bit slower but that probably won’t happen with D’Antoni as a coach. Also get a solid defensive 5 like on a Brendan Haywood or Varejao level. That’s more realistic imo.

JNixonParticipantRaymond Felton is using his strength and frame and keeping Nate Robinson on his hip, and it’s breaking down Boston’s D. Felton is abusing Nate to the point that he can take it to the basket and score or create opportunities for Amare with EASE. They have to get Nate out of the game.

The reason Nate is in, it’s because Rondo’s injury is slowing him down so he can’t keep up with Felton’s speed off picks.

MkadozaParticipantIf I’m the Knicks, I lock up Felton for a while. His shot has improved dramatically, and is perfect for this offense. D’Antoni puts his players in the best position to be effective offensively. Amar’e’s unstoppable.
The big thing is people are seeing the improvement in Gallo.
Garnett is really keeping the Celts in it with his post presence.

sheltwon3ParticipantThe play that hurt them the most was that 3 by Ray Allen that was wide open. Also Knicks let Garnet get 2 offensive board after they played pretty good defense. They are on the verge though. They would have beaten the other 28 teams with the way they played. Boston just seem to make the shots when they counted the most and that is the fourth quarter. Amare normally owns that. Knicks also are going to have adjust their style let in games. They need a better slow down game because they gave Boston enough extra possesions to get back into it. They should have slowed it down a little when they had a 4 points lead with 2 minutes. Spurs can play both styles well and that is showing for them this years not that they have a deeper team to rest Duncan more.

sheltwon3ParticipantKnicks current don’t have the personel to stop some teams. They really need a solid big man like say Tyson Chandler. Who can get rebounds and alter shots. Knicks have to play scrappy which can get you wins versus a lot of teams but the better teams that can slow it down will get the shots they want or let Knicks expend a lot of energy. Mike D needs to start going to his bench more.

I wasn’t one of those people who thought he’d struggle without Nash, but I didn’t expect him to be this good.
I mean, it’s like he’s carried his post All-Star break play with the Suns last season over to this season, except taken it up a level. He’s rebounding better this year… Attacking the rim more and seeing the floor better. His defense is still so so though.
I’m just impressed with him.

sheltwon3ParticipantI am actually wondering how Miami versus Knicks will be because honestly if Knicks play this way against Miami, they can win. Miami with their big 3 don’t tend to put up big point. Also who is going to guard Amare. Celtics had a pretty good game from all their big 3 and it still game down to one shot. Also someone else just noticed something I also noticed. Amare should have had more than .4 seconds. He should have at least had .7 second. Either way this was a good game that the Knicks could have won if not for costly mistakes in the 4th quarter.

NYK2010ParticipantD’antoni really needs to play Turiaf some the Knicks don’t have any size in the paint.
It kills them on rebounds and you could see down the stretch the Celtics had their way.
Great game, couple mistakes the Allen 3 and they might wanna not guard Rondo when he can’t move well and double someone else instead.
They definately need to improve defensively but their a young team.
Against Miami they should do well, Bosh isn’t much of a defender.
Felton and Douglas should have good games, Fields will probably get schooled but it’ll be an experience for him.
Neither team really has much of a bench.

Ghost01ParticipantIf anything, this game showed why the Knicks cant trade for Melo. They cant gut their depth anymore at this point….trading Galo, Fields, and potentially Chandler would just kill them. They can win without him, or sign him in the offseason. Both better choices, in my opinion.
