The Carmelo Curse

Anyone who has been on this board the last 10 years knows that I am a Melo hater. I never liked his black hole, catch at the elbow-then faceup-then pump fake and jab step 40 times-then shoot a jumper anyway- crap. He is a cancer to all teams he touches.

Well, this just in. The Rockets are in talks with Melo to define "his role and how the franchise and the 10-time all-star forward still might be able to ptoceed together for the rest of the season" (ESPN). Wow. he was 'sick' tonight and didn't play. As a Knicks fan, "I told you so!!".

I wouldn't say he is a cancer more so needs to age gracefully..

If this is legit that he wants to be a legit starter(30+ mins) somewhere then he is delusional at this point of his career..

Part time starter though is a different question(15-25 mins) starts in Name but not really in minutes sort of like Ball is doing in L.A...

What to do though in Houston is kind of a big question as that whole roster is kind of Mud...They have most of their cap locked up in Harden not the worst move but you need the right core around him,a really old CP3 who can't stay healthy and Capella who isn't bad but not exactly amazing..This is without mentioning Melo and loss of depth in offseason.

Personally in OKC in small doeses Melo is alright he just needs 3 other players to hide him on Defense like we did with Adams,P.G and Roberson offensively we looked ok and we could go toe to toe with GSW in that department but having Melo play 30+ mins was the hard part as young teams would go at him and he wasn't used to not closing. It also didn't help lack of team offseason prep so chemistry was a little rushed. This is why this season we look a little more cohesive as there was this prep with most of the team this offseason...

If Melo is bought out/waived I personally could see him on 1 of 3 teams:

76ers due to have lost some depth with Butler trade+ they are sort of tight.

Back in OKC if he took really really cheap deal and started only in name...Jermi Grant getting most of the minutes...Personally would prefer Kanter next offseason first though..I think it would have to be next season though if he came back possibly(I think players that are traded have to wait some time)

or

Random team that offers him lots of minutes and wants seats filled..See Suns,Detroit etc

I hear you, BUT...

If I had a young team moving toward contention, a la the Sixers, I wouldn't let this guy within a football field of my young guys. The last thing you need is a a delusional, aging chucker who thinks he is afranchise player coming in with your second unit. Stay away,. Far away. I see him going to some young rebuilding team that needs points and a name. Suns, Hawks etc... Not for multi-year either.

I would be absolutely shocked

I would be absolutely shocked if the 76ers tried to get Carmelo Anthony. Two of the Sixers key principles are ball movement and defense. Seeing as Melo does neither I can't imagine they'd even give him a workout.

He knew he was likely getting

He knew he was likely getting a bench role at the Rockets and his starter streak has been broken so why he would be unhappy with this now I don't know, he has been playing good minutes from the bench.

If he did leave the Rockets then finding another team could be hard, the Lakers seem to have every disfunctional player in the league on their roster so might they give him a whirl.

He has one (1) total assist

He has one (1) total assist over his last six games. I mean, what better way to sum up what is happening with him in Houston than that?

Guys who get to the second half of their careers and don't re-invent themselves often find themselves out of the league, and that is where Anthony is headed.

Compare Anthony to Vince Carter. It's been a long time since VC was one of the best players in the league. But he reinvented his game to become an outside shooter and decided to focus on doing the little things at a high level and contributes to his team without dominating the basketball. He is a good teammate who doesn't complain about his role or his shots or playing time and has added years to his career.

If VC was still going out everynight trying to get his, and playing the same game he did when he was 25, he would have been out of the league a long time ago.

Has not been effective for at

Has not been effective for at least 5 years. Ppg numbers don't mean shit. He ruins the flow of offense, defends poorly and has a really really poor attitude that infects locker rooms. This is what happens when fans tell you you can play and you are an all star for years and you play for franchises that don't care about anything except selling tickets and merchandise, ie. New York, who have not been in the ball park of winning for 20 years and have no interest in legitimate player development. You let a narcissist thrive for years and now he doesn't know any better. No self awareness at all. Just think about how bad this is - the Rockets were first last season. Ariza and Mbah a Moute are a loss, but there's only a few places left to point fingers and I'd be starting at the guy who will never point at himself

Guys temper the emotion - do not allow anger to cloud your eyes

Remember the Justin Timberlake classic "Bringing Sexy Back"???

Carmelo Anthony is a man who is Determined to Bring the 1990's Elbow Clear Out your Teammates to the other side of the court while I work ISO game back!

Remember as Emotion Increases IQ & your ability to think crticially Decreases! & Geniuses have this Effect on people - they are often met w/ scorn & derision b/c We normal people fail to see the future & Understand the greatness before our very Eyes

Tesla, Van Gogh, Lincoln, Socrates, Einstein, Twain, Orwell & many, many more & what sets many of these great thinkers apart is their recogntion that Humanity moves in Cycles that often repeat themselves in one form or another

Carmelo Anthony merely understands that the Only place for the NBA go after the Dubs Revolution is right back to where it all started the Iso Clear Out Dribble Drive Jab Step 18 foot 2 pt shot! AHHHH Poetry! Soak it in my friends! From the Moment Melo establishes position & calls for the ball to the that Beautiful Orange ball ultimately floating thru the Net a full 20 seconds later! Every single second from start to finish is pure Magic! It is Theatre; it is entertainment & it is the Future! err I mean the Past! You know what I mean!

Don't hate the player hate the Game

while i think melo can be

while i think melo can be very toxic to a team i dont think he should take the full blame here. i think some of houstons issues is their off season moves with the loss of some of last years team. melo needs to take blame but not all of it in my opinion.

Melo

Everybody knows he has an ego problem. Same like AI, both could still play in the league at 37 but their ego won't allow them to agree upon their roles changing and that's a big thing in this league. You take a look at VC and how he lasted so long, it's because he accepts his role as a guy mentoring the young guys. Melo isn't capable of that. He still thinks it's 2009. His moves are so predictable nowadays, he can easily be contained by the elite defenders.

I think Vince Carter just

I think Vince Carter just enjoys playing and wants to be on a team where he can see minutes whether he would be the sort of guy a powerhouse contender would give 10 to 15 mpg to I don't know. But he is a good locker room presence on a young team and can still do a job when needed.

Id suggest Carmelo tries

Id suggest Carmelo tries China but he doesn't like coming off the bench.

DWade is out there defending him on Twitter, let's see how it goes if Miami signs him, I bet the tweets change quick.

Melo only lasted 10 games

Melo only lasted 10 games with Houston !!!

Carmelo Anthony's tenure with the Rockets "is over," according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Woj adds that Houston doesn't have immediate plans to waive him -- he'll stay on the roster, for now, but "will not rejoin the team." It was first reported on Nov. 11 by the New York Times that Melo's time in Houston was almost over, so this report was inevitable.
