Bust players

Have you ever really believed that a player would have become a star and instead he turned out to be a complete bust? Do not consider injuries...There may be many but those two that really disappointed you in the last 4 o 5 years... my names are Perry Jones and Jahili Okafor... just curious...

Dates back a little longer

Dates back a little longer than 5 years but Michael Beasley for sure. The guy was just so dominant in his one year at k state. Seemed to have all the tools to be a big time scorer in the nba. I actually thought he had every bit the natural talent that Carmelo did. But he just lacked the maturity and focus to really excel and wound up just kind of bouncing around the league. His career hasn’t necessarily been awful but he hasn’t come close to living up to expectations.

Anthony Bennett just scored 36 in the G-League. All on standstill jumpshots.

6'6 swingmen

James Young

Xavier Henry

Didn't have huge expectations for either of them, but their careers are practically non existant.

I ran into big Sid at a community event about 3 weeks ago. He now has a belly that Eddy Curry, Michael Sweetney and Big Baby Davis would envy.

As someone who played against them in HS when he was flat out better than James Harden in every facet of the game except passing, that hurt my heart to see.

I was a Ben McLemore and Xavier Henry believer. Both of which have pretty much flamed out.

Shabazz Muhammad too before his true age was revealed and he stepped foot onto UCLA's campus and immediately gained weight and lost his explosion

Huge believers in Jahlil Okafor and Derrick Williams and yeah...they fizzled out. Same with Jan Vesely.

That's the old Larry Brown

That's the old Larry Brown special right there. Did it in Philly too...Larry Hughes with a promise over Pierce and Nowitski. Anyway my guy was Terrence Williams from Louisville 6'6 wing that could do everything

Yeah, T-Will

I thought he was gonna be a beast. STrong as an ox, handles, decent jumper. I don't really know what happened there. He's still only 31. Huh.

Yeah I gotta admit thats one guy I thought would make it for sure. He was living at Gary Paytons house doing workouts predraft. They talked up a good game hyping him up too. 3 position player, great athlete, do a bit of everything. Who knows why it didnt work out, couldve been anything.

Old and new

Taking it back 15 years, we had Lenny Cooke. I remember the hype around that guy. Ranked above Lebron James for a minute. Never made the NBA, so technically not a bust since you have to actually make it to the league to be an official bust. More of a never was, than a bust.

For me, I was a big believer in Archie Goodwin. In HS he was just on a whole other level speed-wise, and athleticism-wise. He was raw, but you just knew he would figure out how to play and develop a reasonable shot. He played one year in college and then squeaked in the end of the first round of the draft. He actually played for 3 or 4 years in the league and got some pretty good minutes. But he just never, ever, improved. He would just do the same moves that he did in high school over and over. He never improved his shooting, and besides dunking, he never really impressed. Watching him in high school, I was just sure that he had Russell Westbrook type potential. Wow was I wrong.

This is going back a while...

Wesley johnson...Top 4 pick in in '10 draft.. The guy has the tools to be good but boy did he turn out to be average...

Same draft

Al faruoq Aminu(8th pick) alright player but thought he would be more than a role player..

Both went before PG and Hayward...

I guess this is what happens when you believe in rankings and media than actually watching the game footage and seeing if they can play or not lol

Lmao

I'll never get tired of saying these people:

Marcus Fizer -my favorite player in the weak 2000 NBA draft. He never got his groove playing behind Elton Brand. His consecutive ACL injuries didn't help either.

Marvin Williams - I thought he'd be a star in this league. He turned out to be average but hey, congrats to him in reaching 10 000 points this season. Glad he's still in the league though. But back then, I thought he'd be a multiple time All Star somewhat having a Jamal Mashburn type of career.

Xavier Henry - the guy is oozing with potential and skillset. 6'6 at the 2 or 3 spot, that was indeed intriguing. Can't blame me for expecting too much on the kid.

Anthony Randolph for sure.. with his lenght and size I thought he'd be something.. Like Perry Jones.. oh and can't believe people didn't say Greg Oden even though it's bc of injuries.. still sad.
