inukawaii8Participantjust saw this on espn
"We came back and Deron got a good look. I was right there, crashing the boards. I thought it was good. I will go to the grave thinking that."– Nets center Brook Lopez, who apparently is pretty adament about his belief that Deron Williams’ potential game-winner at the buzzer was going in.
i guess this is why this 7 ft center only avg 5.9 rbs a game… someone needs to teach this stanford grad that in order to be a good rebounder, he has to go after EVERY ball. he has to have the freaking mentality that every shot is going to miss, especially when the game if freaking on the line.. dont just freaking stand there.. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT…

nba00Participanthis a lazy player who dont want to get bruised dont want to work hard there is no excuse for a 7ft starting center not to get at least 9 rebs a game, if he is not the best scorer they have he wont score more than 20pts they just have no choice

omphalosParticipantHonestly, I think Brook was worn down by all the losing last season and needs to rediscover his intensity for the contest. He’ll never be a Dwight Howard type rebounder, but we know he’s done better than this before. Hopefully Williams will revitalise him.
As an aside, do you suppose Williams will promise to make Lopez and All-Star now?

mj23mj23besteverParticipanthe used to put up decent reboudning numbers around 8 too 8.5 a game but he just seems to became lazy true the losing could affect him but if your true professional losing should make you wanna try harder to improve so that you arent losing

yaboymalParticipantI thought he was at least averaging something like 7.5 but 5.9 for a long and mobile 7 footer is crazy and lazy.. You can put eddy curry out there to average 5.9 boards a game sheeesh..On a serious note he needs to play with alot more intensity unless your avaeraging 25ppg you gotta grab more rebounds comon get tough

ChrischiParticipantHow can you call Lopez a mobile center? Have you ever watched the Nets play?

BoomshakalakaParticipantHe has a nice touch and one of a handful of scoring centers in the league(others are Dwight, Bynum, Shaq if he still counts) BUT untill he starts getting appropriate rebounds for his height, position, and importance on the team he will not be considered an elite player. They should trade for Ben Wallace so that he can mentor Brooke on how to hustle. lol
If he wanted to Brooke could easily average 22pts 8.5reb 2ast
I think he is one day capable of 25.5pts 11reb 4ast0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/01/2011 - 4:49am #502724

BoomshakalakaParticipantbut I dont think that anyone can dispute that he has the tools to be a top center. He just needs to develop a go getter mentality with a bit of a mean streak.

flyboyParticipantHe has two main problems that hurt his ability to rebound:
– He lacks great rebounding instincts.
– He doesn’t explode to the ball when it comes off the rim for rebounds.
He’s fundamentally sound for the most part, in that he does box out, he can get rebounds in his area, but he’s not an amazing athlete/jumper, and that hurts his ability to rebound outside of his area. Also, he seems to have generally regressed defensively, as he’s basically become the Nets’ co-main scorer. He needs to get back to focusing on being a decent defender, and he’s never been an amazing rebounder but 8 per game is a level he needs to be around at his size.

SwatLakeCityParticipantI’ll say it again. Rebounding takes effort. Its all about who wants it more? Who’s willing to do anything in his power to get that rebound? Who’s willing to dive on the floor, reach down and never quit until its yours? Apparentely not Brook Lopez. This is what he would be doing if he was really "crashing" the boards. I sincerely hope during this offseason he works on his rebounds. He needs to ask Humphries to help him learn how to box out. I’m sure he’d be happy to oblige, because he too wants to win. And you can’t win unless you get those boards. I guess too much loosing can be painful both physically and mentally. The Nets also need to hire a big man’s coach if they don’t already have one and he will need to work exclusively with Lopez and Brandan Wright.

Malik-UniversalParticipantbrook has virtually no jumping ability…
and then again he’s soft
so therefore that translates to sh*ity rebounding

iguapops420ParticipantGarbage. Lazy and soft. Absolutely no intensity, and he doesn’t pass out of doubles for shit. Robin may suck, but at least he gives effort lol.

iguapops420ParticipantLast year he had decent rebounding numbers because everyone else lacked the desire to rebound as much as him, therefore FORCING him to get that many rebounds. Just like a guy scoring 20 ppg out of necessity on a team void of scorers.
