There is a story on Sportsrageous that the Pacers will look to flip Al Jefferson for Brook Lopez when Al is eligible to be traded which will be around mid December. The Pacers would also send some package of picks to sweeten the deal.

As Al Jefferson only joined the Pacers in the summer to be on the block already may be a surprise to him. But the Pacers added Jeff Teague and Thad Young over the summer too so are clearly looking to compete. Plus getting Brook would link him up with Thad again.

The fact that Brook may be on the block is no shock as Sean Marks is trying to clear up the mess that Billy King left behind. Brook is 28 and has 2 years left on his deal, he has played two solid seasons after injury issues so his trade value may now be about as high as it will get for the Nets.

If Brook is in play then the Nets may be hoping that other teams look to make a move before the Pacers do in order to create a bidding war.

I did wonder if Chicago might look to pair up the Lopez twins alongside Butler, D-Wade and Rondo. Chicago have Taj Gibson on an expiring deal and could send a younger player or two plus a future pick. Doug McDermott would be an option as I figure the Bulls would like to hang onto Mirotic. Bobby Portis could be an attractive piece for the Nets too.

Charlotte are trying to remain in contention and might like Brook’s scoring and could put together a decent deal with picks.

Houston might want scoring support for Harden and D’Antoni would not worry about Lopez’s defensive issues.

Denver are lookingto rebuild and might want a frontcourt scorer to compliment their young Euro bigs plus they have a few decent assets and picks they could use.

Interesting trade for Indiana. Lopez may make them better in the short-term but I still dont think they could legitimately challenge the Cavs. He doesn’t seem to fit the vision of what bird was looking to do with a smaller faster lineup and it would put a serious squeeze on Myles Turner’s minutes and Turner is supposedly a big part of their future plans. They could take a step back defensively with Lopez on the floor as well. He would give them another legit scoring option and take some of the burden off of Paul George to carry them on offense.

It would probably take jefferson, at least one first pick and probably another asset of some kind to get Lopez. Brooklyn needs draft picks in the worst way and they are not going to sell cheap on their most valuable trade chip. For the right price, Lopez can definitely be had, as he is basically useless for a rebuilding Brooklyn team at this point. I’m just not sure this is a move that would benefit Indiana long-term.

Sportsrageous might be the worst sports site on the internet.  They literally just spend their days making up outlandish rumors.

The pacers already got the better of the Nets once. Thad Young is a good player, good history and good salary. They traded him for the 20th pick and a future second rounder.

Not sure what assets Pacers have, surely the nets wouldn’t be stupid enough to take another 20-25 overall pick. Don’t know if they would give up Myles Turner.

Denver has a lot of assets, but already have two centres. With this small fad getting worse and worse I don’t think they could play either 3 along side each other (especially as broken lopez isn’t exactly the best defender in the world) Maybe they could do Nurkic, Faried and/or Will Barton or trade lopez for maybe a top 7 or top 10 protected draft pick….

Sportrageous basically produces content equal to the worst trade proposals this forum has ever scene. Check their history of stories. It’s comical.

Brook Lopez is the Nets only real asset at this point.  They shouldn’t dish him unless the deal includes first round picks, emphasis on the plural, or a young stud in return.

As an ethical, professional, hard-hitting Sportsrageous Journalist, I’m offended by the comments questioning our commitment to providing Pulitzer-quality content that is driven by thorough investigative research.

We have too much important longitudinal emperical research to carry out to waste time making up frivolous trade rumours.

Now if you could all please let me work, I’m trying to write a poignant article about the inherent complexity of urban basketball culture’s incongruous reliance on conservative middle-class economic stimulus.

    I think I’ll call the article…

"LEBRON JAMES TRADED TO THE  MINNESOTA LYNX FOR MAYA MOORE AND A SMALL, FRIGHTENED, HAIRLESS CAT– Since the trade, you won’t believe what LeBron looks like now. Doctors hate him because he discovered local girls in your area ready to fûck."
