Is it to early to say that Brandon Roy is comparable to Allan Houston? Will the surgery on both knees be the end of the brandon Roy show in portland/or the NBA? Thoughts?

i hope he can take this season off and come back eventually. And when healthy, roy was a much better player then houston if you are comparing them as players.

Brandon Roy is a lot younger than Houston was when he got his surgerys. Roy still has time to adjust, mold, and revamp his game

Brandon Roy’s career is just about over. His and Portland’s situation, not his injuries, is somewhat similar to Yao Ming and Houston’s. The big difference being Yao is at the end of his contract, while Roy is at the beginning.

Yao was in and out of the lineup this season before his season was ended. That was tough for the team to adjust to. It’d be similar with Roy next season for Portland. He’d be in and out of the lineup. It’d be tough for the team chemistry wise. The surgery Roy is about to get could help him short term, but it isn’t going to be a long term solution. There really is no solution for Roy. There’s not much you can do when you’re bone on bone (thigh bone against leg bone) in both knees. They’re desperate to try anything before calling it quits.

To be honest… It’d be best for Portland if Roy was declared medically unable to continue his career and then retired. I’m not for sure, but I think his contract wouldn’t be counted against their books (similar to what happened with Darius Miles).
