Surprised that they didnt make a move at the deadline and its probably a good thing instead of getting rid of young players and picks for questionable Stars or take on alot more salary. Playoffs anything can happen first round could definitely get upset but i like Brad Stevens and their gritty players even second round if its Toronto their up against then they matchup well again.. but i think we all know its Cleveland coming out of the east this year.

Lets fast forward to the off season.. alot of money comes off the books.. I believe somewhere around 27mil is gone.. so theyre sitting roughly 51mil.. Amirs 12mil isnt guarenteed by a certain date but its not the worst contract esp expiring.. with the cap goin up to somewhere around 89mil the Celtics are laughing.. free agency players are Turner, Sully, Zeller.. decent role players all with question marks.. 3 first round picks.. 5second rounders..

If your the Celtics what do you do.. and lets take a serious look at it cause i doubt Durant comes and all..

If im Brad Stevens and Danny Ainge then first off you know theyre well respected and are doing a great job at building a contender.. so with theyre current roster i sign unrestriced PF Al Horford.. probably a max contract but for a solid big at 29 years old is ok with me.. I then sign unrestriced C Joakim Noah.. 15mil a year? 30 years old defensive big with a few injuries but these are high character guys who are used to winning and clearly have played together  (Florida)

Starting lineup.. Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder, Al Horford and Joakim Noah. High character guys.. system guys.. great combination of passing and scoring with defense..

Projected first-fifth pick probably.. lets just say the pick is what theyre projected now at 4.. there will be alot of movement from now till draft day with guys having good madness tourneys and workouts.. Alot of talent Dunn, Murray, Jaylen, & others.. id draft Buddy Heild tho.. Senior from a good progran and a Sg which may be the biggest weak spot in the starting lineup..

Bench mob.. Marcus Smart, Buddy Heild, James Young, Amir Johnson, Kelly Olynyk. Great young bench plus they have Rozier, Hunter, Mickey and Jerebko.. plus theyre two other first rounders this year package and move up or package with player (s)

I think this is a legitimate team to win a championship with the proper coaching and a great GM.. I  chose not to sign Dwight or Whiteside or trade for Brook or Cousins cause just like they didnt do anything crazy at the deadline they are looking for the right pieces and good fits. Plus theyre still under the cap.. they couldeasily find a buyer for Jerebko and another young guy or two pkus their picks.. or signa guy like Luol Deng to be your Sf off the bench

Just my opinion.. whats your take on what they should do

Jerebko is like A Johnson, team option.

With pick 4 or 5, swingman or center.

Dallas and Boston 1st rounders, trade therm away or combine them to move up.

I think they do try to spend all their salary room, even if it is Dwight Howard.

Don’t mention Horford and Noah choosing to be on the same team, I suggested that and many thought it was never a chance.

Turner, Sullinger, Zeller, unlikely all three return.  Sullinger and Zeller probably get big offers, big to us, and maybe Celtics don’t want both at that money.

If they draft a center, Zeller at big money isn’t needed.  Sullinger is a risk though, weight and other things.

Should be a fun draft and offseason.

That Celtics won’t be able to win a championship sonibdoibt ainge goes that route. If the Celtics don’t land the 1st pick than I think they should swing for the fences and try to get Cousins who could be a top 7 player under a coach like Stevens

A guy like Jaylen Brown could do the job of Evan Turner and Jerebko combined, and then some.

Brown is talked about as a SG-SF, but it’s clear as day to me that he’s a SG-SF-PF at the NBA level. His standing reach is the same as Blake Griffin’s. He would replicate a lot of what Crowder brings, but that’s not a bad thing at all, and Brown has the kind of first step that the Celtics need. Because other than Isaiah and possibly Rozier, we don’t many guys who can get by their man at will and create the kind of havoc that opens up shots for teammates.

Jakob Poeltl seems really underrated right now, and he’d be a perfect fit in Boston too. As would Ingram and Simmons, of course. People might think, he’s just beating up players much shorter than him, but that’s what they said about Porzingis. 7’1 is 7’1, and Poeltl has an incredibly growing set of offensive skills. Not bad for a guy known for his defense. I’d be pretty pumped if we got any of these Big 4.

Poeltl’s offensive skills are miles ahead of Alex Len’s were in college. So much so that Poeltl could end up looking like a Gasol brother after a few years. Ready to contribute, too. He’s going to be awesome.

I agree with Horford as the top free agent, give him the max. After that sign a rim-protector at less than max.

The next need is a scorer for the wing. Depending on the lottery, you take the top wing available.

Poelt would be a great consolation prize. I would move up to grab him, if I could. Hard to tell if he’s going to go really early or slide a little.

Turner will probably stay (I think he is worth more to the C’s than anyone else). Sully and Zeller are gone.

For once, the picture is pretty clear for the C’s. They have a solid team that needs help up-front and an other go-to player.

After Ingram and Simmions are off the board the Celtics should look to try and move down a little. I really like Poelt and think he would be a great fit but at 3-4 I think that would be a stretch. According to the mock draft on this site the Bucks would be a perfect partner to try and trade with.

Pay Barnes the max or somehow kidnap KD like the Clips did with Jordan and tell KD we will try to sign anyone he wants.

I think Ainge knows he needs an All star player. I think they at least have a shot with the Nets pick at getting that player. I highly doubt(hope) he dosen’t trade down. I want him to trade UP. Be really hard to trade up into 1 or 2. But they can trade the 20th or 26th wherever it lands plus one of the guys they drafted in the past few years. I gotta figure Rozier, Mickey, RJ, Young have increased there value a little since being drafted. This is why I wish they had played them a little more this year to try an increase the value of them. Maybe a team would value some depth with a few of these young guys and trade down.

James Young is starting to look strong as F. I wish that when he got to play earlier in the year that he got a chance to do more than just stand in the corner. At the same time his ball handling can still be a bit sloppy.

But all of our best outside shooters get the short-leash treatment from Brad, even Kelly Olynyk.

I’m still on the fence about James Young, but i know that he would just go off for some other team that let him off his short leash, let him attack the rim and get hot, and then go off from 3.

The young guys, Turner and Zeller have done great jobs for the team. It  think you have got to let these guys walk so they can play RJ, Young and Mickey more to see what they can provide off the bench. Are they going to blossom into NBA players or not. Amir and Jerebko have filled the roles as well but I would let these buys walk as well. Bring Sully back since he is still improving and a RFA. That would be perfect if we signed Horfod to go into the starting role. Then the young guys can all work on improving incase of injury.

    PG-IT, Smart

      SG-Bradley, RJ

    SF-Crowder, Young

    PF- Sully, Olynyk, Mickey

C- Horford, (Whatever top pick we get slots in somewhere too) Possibily take on more draft picks or trade them away. But at least the team is mostly kept intact for now with still room to make future moves. I don’t like signing Noah yet becuase I don’t think that makes the Celtics a Championship team.

Im glad they didn’t make a move. Players they were going after they can get this summer without giving up assets. Like you said KD is out the question, but their are a lot of players on the market. I would start with bringing back Turner and Sully I think they work for this team. Then I would go after Eric Gordon because I feel like they could really use some more offense and Mozgov if you can’t snag Howard or Horford. With Mozgov I would try and outbid the Warriors for Harrison Barnes, just throw the max at him and see what happens.

Exactly. Id say Boston has a decent chance…If they can swing another All Star in a trade then he would have to consider them a contender with himself on board.

With Lebron starting to fade..the East is up for grabs.

I agree slight chance KD comes to Boston but I’ll take that slight chance. If KD says the word the Celtics would go out and sign Horford, it’s far fetched dont get me wrong. Ainge actually got a little friendly with KD’s family back in the day when KD was being drafted. Ainge was always a KD guy over a Oden guy, KD should have been a Celtic to begin with! Who knows Boston is in a position to legit contend in the East. Cap room, young players, Nets picks for the next THREE seasons and Brad Stevens.

Jakob Poetl seems like a match made in heaven with Brad Stevens coaching style and Boston’s team chemistry. Bender is also a very good option but would likely be less NBA ready.

Of course Jaylen Brown has a ton of intrigue with that pick. Boston was going all in for Justice Winslow last year and Brown seems to have just as much potential if not more while filling a similar role although with Crowder breaking out on an amazing contract they may go a different route.

Of course Simmons and Ingram show the most benefits as they do for any team. Trading the pick may also be an option.
