bswervesParticipantMy Bobs scooped up Haywood today for a great price ($2 mil a season for 2 years). I like this move. Not a long term solution at center by any means but should be a solid contributor immediately and help out the young guys (Mullens and Bismack). Now if we can add a vet power forward (Humphries or Jamison…etc) we should be able to win around 17-20 games next season
Kemba/Sessions
MKG/Gordon
Henderson/Jeff Taylor (who is looking like a steal in the 2nd round)
Bismack/Jamison or Humphries
Haywood/Mullens
Not a great line-up by any means but should be able to muster more than 7 wins. However, I am expecting another pretty god-awful year that hopefully will wind up with us getting the #1 pick and adding Shabazz or Zeller. Than hopefully land the next elite NBA superstar the following year in Andrew Wiggins.

UNCbasketballbumParticipantnever liked Brendan Haywood. I dunno if this was another incident of Jordan signing another UNC guy, but Brendan Haywood is nothing more than a back-up center. Biyombo, Mullens and Haywood make up a pretty awful post group.

bswervesParticipantI dont think it was a matter of signing a UNC guy, I think it was more about addressing our post problem. We signed him for 2 years and I doubt we’ll keep him longer than that. He does a pretty good job protecting the rim and doesn’t allow easy lay-ups and like him or not, he has a lot of NBA experience. I don’t think we’re looking to him for offense either but he is capable of getting buckets close to the basket and put-backs. Haywood and Biyombo make a pretty decent defensive frontcourt in my opinion.
Either way, I like to see the Bobcats at least making some moves (Ben Gordon and a future first rounder, Haywood, Sessions, drafting MKG) and trying to put some sort of semblance of an actual team on the floor instead of the god-awful atrocity that was that Bobs last year.

Bobcats-number-one-fanParticipantI like the move because it adds depth and a veteran who has been a part of a championship team. If nothing else he can provide BisMack with an example of how to assert himself on the court. Haywood is not afraid in the post and hopefully some of that aggression will rub off on the young bloods. He also gives us a viable starting option at a reasonable price for the near future. We are not delusional enough to think that the moves we have made here recently will make us playoff contenders. we are attempting to build a team for the future and having a few veterans to tach our young guys how to perform on the court will be a big help in these guys on court development. I look forward to another year at the bottom of the nba with our trajectory pointed up instead of down.

bjcart53ParticipantI want henderson traded why he still has value. I liked who i saw out there the other night for the summer league team! Lets just start over completely…MKG Taylor Kemba Bismack and then fill in the blank for the last starter. I like these guys toughness at least.

HitsterParticipantStrange move for the worse team in the league to take a guy off waivers, but Haywood can be used to mentor Biyombo and gives a young team some veteran presence. A bid for Scola may have made more sense as it would have filled a hole at PF.

royk927ParticipantHe will come in an be a rim protector and get rebounds. As much as i like the upside of mullens and biyombo they are not ready yet to be thatt kinda player. And at 2 mil he is a bargin.

Stinky34ParticipantAm I missing something or are we all forgetting about Tyrus Thomas who when he has his head on straight is a pretty good PF…

Raef LaFrentzParticipantTo reiterate @Kayjay’s post:
"6 hard fouls. ‘Nuff said."
So true.

HitsterParticipantThe Bobcats were so bad last season that even if MKG becomes the real deal quickly and Gordon provides extra scoring, they will still likely be a lottery team for the next couple of years.
So they could maybe easily progress to 20 to 25 wins with a young team and still have the chance to add other nice draft pieces over the next year or two.
