Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantAfter someone calling him "The next LeBron James".. (which is ridiculous) I’m not going to say who, but you know who you are.
What is your Blake Griffin comparison after 1 game?
I’d say Amar’e Stoudemire with Gerald Wallace motor.

McDunkinWho ever made the Lebron comment might have heard it on NBA TV i forgot who said it but he said if Griifen works on his ball handling he might be able to spend some time at small forward. He did make it clear that he wasnt saying Griffin was as skilled as Lebron but maybe as gifted physically.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantWell this dude was saying that his dribbling ability, driving ability, passing, and scoring, he was as good as LeBron.

Moon RiverParticipantAgree 100% on the Spawn Kemp comparison. I also see a little (albeit taller) Charles Barkley.

ChrischiParticipantAmare and Kemp make sense. But Griffin isn’t as long as them but "looks" stronger. I think he will be a better rebounder than those two, don’t know if he can be as good of a scorer though.

midwestbbscoutParticipantI like the Charles comparison except add 5 inches…..he just has to slow his roll a little cuz he’s gonna keep getting hurt if he keeps diving on his medula oblongata….

IndianaBasketballParticipantHe reminds me of a young Karl Malone (body, strength and how he ran the floor), but with the athleticism of a young Shawn Kemp.
And @Tongue-Out-Like-23
That dude wasn’t saying Griffin was literally the next LeBron. Just saying that he had an interesting blend of strength, speed, quickness, athleticism, ball handling, etc.

Michael.S.ParticipantNope. Griffin is nothing like Amare. Amare was never this physical and aggressive. Like others have said, Griffins motor is on a whole different level. While Amare was sometimes thought to coast and only be aggressive hen having the ball. Griffin also has great ball awareness and attacks the boards like a monster. Seriously, I have never seen a player get as many putback dunks as this guy. 14 rebounds in his debut. Amare is usually soft on the boards. However, Griffin has a very long ways to go ith his offensive game to reach Amare’s level. He is a great finisher undr the rim. His hands and touch are very good. His jumper is mediocre, as well as his freee thro shooting. Amare has developd to a big threat from outside and an 80% free thro shooter. And while Griffin is an amazing athlete, him playing the 3 is not a good idea. He is quick but I can’t picture him on the perimeter guarding LeBron, Gay, Durant, Melo, ect… They would run circles around him. And he has good handle for a 4 man, bt I doubt he has the crossover and perimeter skills to be effectiv on the offensive end. He also doesn’t have great speed, balance, and he isn’t that fluid off the move, or agile. All in all, he is best fit to be a 4 man, and he will be an all-star really soon.

Amare and Shawn Kemp are in a slightly different category lengthwise.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantStop calling him Karl Malone.. Karl Malone is the 2nd all time scorer in the league, Blake Griffin only played 1 game.
It’s disprespectful to call him Karl Malone.

IndianaBasketballParticipantIt’s just a comparison… IF that’s the case, it’s been disrespectful every time a high school or college player has been compared to a great NBA player.
He does remind me of Karl Malone. Not very long or tall, but huge and powerful… Runs the floor like a deer and will knock over whoever gets in his way. Reminds me of Kemp in just how quick and powerfully he gets off of the floor. Kemp had that quick second jump as well.
