Rick Jackson deserves 1st team honors.  it’s a travesty. he’s averaging a double double. no one else in the BE is within 2 rebounds of Jackson’s pergame average.  BS

Ashton Gibbs doesn’t deserve to be replaced at all from the 1st team. He’s been very productive for the best team in the conference, and he’s probably the best shooter in the nation by a decent margin. If anybody it should be Marshon Brooks, even though he has gaudy stats, Providence is a bad team and he’s doing what quite a few players could do if they had the ball as much as he does.

I would replace Jackson with Freeman for one simply reason. When Wright got hurt Freeman was never able to step his game up and lead his team to a victory.  But Freeman has had an outstanding season.  Somehow Jackson should be first team tho, whether it’s Freeman, Brooks, or Gibbs, who despite being a very clutch shooter, still has missed game where Pitt was able to compensate for him, and basically all he does is take the big shot, he’s not the greatest all around basketball player.

And Scoop Jardine to be on the 3rd team ove Kris Josephs, Jardine is the engine the ran syracuse and also the player they go to in the clutch.

Freeman deserved to be 1st team. He scored very well and played his role. He’s been one of the 5 or 6 best players in the conference. Gibbs makes big shots, played very solid D, played both guard spots, was very productive, and is the best shooter in college basketball. He’s a 1st team guy. I wouldn’t have any problems with him being a shortlist POY in the conference either. Marshon Brooks is the guy who should be 2nd team. He’s not one of the 5 or 6 best players in the conference. His stats just are gaudy because he’s the only actual good player on Providence. Everyone else is deserving.

Rick Jackson was the most dominant big man in the conferance from start to finish, there has to be room for him on the first team.  And if Marshon Brooks played for St. Johns they are a better team, and Dwight Hardy don’t have the year he had.  Same goes for Gibbs, and Freeman.   Gibbs and Freeman both play for great organizations with great coaches, and a ton of depth due to their teams getting better recruits then Providence that’s not Marhson Brooks fault.  Don’t tell me you actually believe Gibbs is capable of putting of the kind of production Marshon Brooks did, if he played on Providence.  Gibbs is no doubt a great player, most notably a great shooter.  But he can’t create his own offense as consistently as Brooks.  Providence only lost by 4 to Pitt due in part to Brooks lighting them up for 28 points while Gibbs only scored 9.  And Providence lost by 2 to G’Town but the only reason the game was even close was because Brooks dropped 43 n 10 on 17-28 from the field.  Give Brooks another half decent player like Wannamaker or Cris Wright and Providence wins those games.

Or how about the one points lose to Notre Dame where Brooks set the record for going off for 52 points while playing all 40 minutes. And he didn’t do it by taking bad shots he was 20-28 from the field and Hansbrough head was spinnin trying to guard him.  Brooks also averages over 7 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.3 blocks all from the 2 guard position which is phenomenal.  Most Big East big men dont get over 7 rebounds or that many blocks.

Yeah he plays on a bad team but he should be commended like he was for keeping his succy a$$ team in them games single handed.

Buddy if you think Marshon Brooks should be on the second team you are an idiot. The player who leads the conference in scoring by about 2 whole points and has lit up every team in the Big East with the exception of Marquette and WVU is more than deserving. Look at his game log in conference play. His bad games were 13pts against WVU, 18pts against MAR and 12pts the 2nd time against LVILLE. He may dominate the ball but he is shooting 49% from the field which is outstanding for a 6’5” SF with a bulls eye on his back. Your point about Marshon being on a bad team is irrelevant when talking about the top players in the conference.O and I forgot to mention his 7 rebounds per game as a 6’5” SF.
