So who player do you think he compares to? Is he more power forward or small forward? I know he has extreme versatility on the offensive end, but does he have the lateral speed to defend 4s in the NBA level? Does he have the jumpshot to space the floor as a 3? Watching highlights of him on youtube, (Im just basing this of hightlights), but can it be fair to say he plays like the play making version of blake girffin every time chris paul is out. i.e game 1 of rockets-clippers? What do you all think? He’s arguably the best prospect in this draft class, but jamaal murray and skal could barge into that argument. What is his NBA outlook to you guys?

I think he will mostly guard PFs.

His team will play small ball lineups with him at Point Forward/PF

He could guard 3s and 4s easily…..and switch onto 2s and 5s as required.

Wont be All Defense…but isnt Carmello either.

I think Lamar Odom is the best comparison I can think of, with his combination of size, ball-handling ability, and vision plus the fact that they are both left-handed. There are some differences in their games. Odom was a better outside shooter at Simmons age while Simmons is much better at using both hands. I see some aspects of Boris diaw in his game as well, although I think Simmons has the potential to be better than either of those guys. I definitely think he will play mostly pf in the NBA, especially with the way the league is trending nowadays, a will probably function as kind of point forward. I eventually think he will develop a reliable outside shot, which is the main weakness in his game right now. I can’t really tell yet if he will be a superstar or just a really solid player.

Are we pretending he doesn’t remind us of LeBron James?

superstar. point forward. 3 or the 4 depending on whatever bottom team gets the top pick and thier need. he will play both, has the versatility. not without flaws, but nothing that cant be fixed. not many people enter the league able to shoot like curry or korver did. in time his jumpshot will need to be respected. quick look at probable destinations, on the 76’ers and knicks he will be the primary creator of offense. nuggets or lakers (doubtful), hes sharing control of the ball with the ball dominant guard they got in this years draft. who else? hes going to need the ball in his hands and most likely will be his teams best option.

Ben is a hard guy to pigeon hole ( find a good upsidecomparison for). He seems to have the size to play PF but is still seen as a bit of a tweener rather like Lamar Odom was.

I see him as basically a better version of Lamar Odom although we must not forget that Lamar often but a team role before his own stats and this might mean we overlook what he achieved in the NBA. Although he never made an All Star game, he was a major contributer to the post Shaq Lakers era where he was often a very valuable running mate of Kobe and Pau Gasol.

I’m sure Kobe would appreciate what Lamar did for the Lakers cause and would speak well of him as a player.

Lamar despite playing a team role for a lot of his career averaged over 5 assists per game for several seasons of his career and also reached 10rpg on a couple of occasions so we must not overlook that he was an excellent ball player too.

When we talk about Ben being a point forward type player therewill always be comparisons to Grant Hill I guess, I didn’t really see Grant play as a 19-20 year old which Ben will be when he joins the NBA so I’d have to look at that comparison when Ben is about 22. Personally I don’t see Ben ever having quite the basketball IQ that Grant had but parts of Grant’s skillset would be a fair upside for him.
