McDunkinLaMarcus Aldridge had a career-high 42 points as the Blazers defeated the Bulls by a final of 109-103 on Monday night.
But Nicolas Batum gave a great deal of credit for the win to Andre Miller, who had an effective night against Derrick Rose.
"We know that Derrick Rose is a good offensive player," Batum said. "But you have to play defense, too. He can’t guard Dre. You gotta play defense. He can’t play defense, so that’s why we put Dre inside and try to attack him. He did a great job. Had 25 (points) and 11 (assists)."
Rose had 36 points and six assists.

Lotto StudParticipantI see now no matter how much DRose improves there will be people to have a knock on his game. Come on now DRose is in MVP talks, no one thought he would be a candidate over DWill & Rondo. I’m quite sure over the summer he will do what is neccessary to work on the defensive side of the ball, but his primary focus this off-season was improving his J which he has improved tremendously. Now that he is hitting a higher percentage from the 3, his defenders have no choice but to respect him. I’m not saying he will be the best defender, he will work on it but it’s not going to happen over night.

K.LOVE THE ALLSTARRose is a average defender at best though. Watching the games and looking at the numbers (what he gives up as far as who he is guarding). But the scary thing is he gets better at Defense( and the rest of his game) every year. There are many stars who start out as bad or below average defenders( Lebron is a name that comes to mind). Eventually he will become a good defender, i have no doubt about that. You see how much he has worked on and improved his jumper.

Ghost01ParticipantRose is an average defender. On this team, in this system, with this coach, it really doesnt matter. "Dre" isnt the reason the Blazers won this game, he was outplayed by Rose.

OhCanada-ParticipantRose is an above average defender who uses most of his energy on the offensive ebnd of the court which then makes him a below average defender on the defensive end of the court. He has some work to do..

jjonzParticipant^^^ Disrespectful to talk about somebody game to the Media, like their in 1st place. I did’nt like when KG & BBaby talked to the Media about DHoward lack of low post moves. Some things you just don’t say, N.Batum is and always will be a rotation guy (12/5/1.5assts this year) on a bad team 8th/9th player on a good team. He’ll never be considered a Major impact player, so he’s writing a check that his skills can’t cover. Can’t create for himself, let your play speak before your Mouth opens. Still DRose can improve on the defensive end. it takes a ton of energy to play hard @ both ends of the court.

So i don’t agree with Coaches airing out players to media. But He(thibs) has a ring is well respected so i guess it’s all good.

When people said that he can’t shoot a lick, lo and behold, he became an instant threat in the outside this season…
Derrick Rose’ defense has improved over 3 seasons… Yes, he is an average defender but comparing it during his first 2 years, he was a really below average defender. Looking at the way he improves every year, this will serve more as a motivation for him to work this throughout the summer… Thanks for the motivation Batum… And yes, Andre did have a solid night but it was LaMarcus Aldridge who dominated Boozer…
