Well this game has reinforced a lot of what people have said on this forum.

First of all, Lauri Markkanen is  the real deal and he has the offensive skill set to make an immediate impact in the league. I’m very impressed with what he can do off the dribble and his perimeter game is as good as advertised.

Aaron Holiday should be getting twice the amount of minutes as Bryce Alford. Alford pretty much shot UCLA out of the game while the minutes that Holiday had were much better than what Alford did which is more often than not the case.

And finally, Bill Walton is the WORST commentator in college basketball! He makes the game difficult to watch! You can tell that Dave Pasch (the other commentator) was just annoyed with Walton the entire game. The were a few times I could here Pasch say under his breath "Just stop" when Walton goes off on one of his tangents. And then whenever any player makes a mistake he completely bashes that player making the player seem almost incompetent. Yes, college athletes make stupid mistakes on the floor at times, but you can’t just bash them the way he does.

The surprise of the game was that Lonzo Ball did not play very well… Even before the thumb injury in the first half he did not seem like he brought the juice tonight. Great win by Zona, they look loke a final four team right now.

How was Lauri’s defense today ? I see he had 22 shots while the next nearest teammate only managed to get 9…

He did a good job on Leaf. TJ couldnt create much with Lauri checking him but he is so crafty he ended up getting to the line by out muscling Markannen and made 9 of 10 free throws. But I mean its TJ Leaf this guy is a pretty good player somethings gotta give. He held Leaf to 3 of 9 and while Markannen only had 3 defensive rebounds he also provided 3 offensive and Arizona won the battle on the glass so he did his part there as well. Lauri isnt a stopper but he is not a bad defender or rebounder I think people just want to see Bargnani in him sort of like people thought Saric wouldnt come over to play in the states because of Fran Vasquez. Predetermined judgement.

Most importantly though he made 4 three pointers and scored 29 points on those 22 shots. Thats really why hes there.

Thats why I love his game.  Strictly a coincidence that he looks exactly like Stretch Armstrong.  He does a great job of spacing the floor and opening up the lane for his athletic gaurds to drive and score.   His game is morr than just a Ryan Anderson but falls a little short of Chris Bosh.  He sure can shoot though

Once his ballhandling gets a bit better he will be like a bigger Galinari. The thing that people dont praise Markannen for is his abillity to attack closeouts and dribble past defenders when they take away his shooting space then pull up or drive to the rim. He will also be able to post up and shoot over smaller defenders. Galinari has made a decent living doing this since he joined the NBA. His body control is great for his size and he also has very fluid running motions and agillity.

Markennan  was the best prospect  on the court last night by a wide margin.
