A lot of people are saying that it’s gonna take a while for AD to reach his prime, and they’re right. But a lot of people are also overlooking the fact that he will still have a big immediate impact on a struggling. If anyone else saw him on ESPN today he was looking bigger than he did in college. He’s starting to develop a man’s body as he fills out. Is he close to as good as he can be, right now? No. But he’s still my favorite candidate for ROY. I think he’s going to be better offensively than people are assuming, especially if he’s in a system like Cleveland or D.C. with a great young pass first point guard.

Side note: Hope he changes is jersey number in the pro’s.

I completely agree. He has another 20 lbs or so of muscle to put on, but that shouldn’t be too hard with an NBA training staff.

Also, I think he can immediately be a top tier defender when he enters the league but will be even better in a few years as he develops physically.

Lastly, on offense I think he has the potential to be a 20ppg guy, maybe even a little more, depending on the situation. He has good form on his J, some guard skills and seems to have a great motor. The fact that he put up 14ppg despite having the 5th highest usage rate on his own team shows that even with ZERO offensive development he can get you buckets regardless.

    In conclusion:

Next year=top 10 defensive big man immediately, and his offensive output will totally be a product of the team that picks him and how he is used

2-3 years from now=right up there with dwight and ibaka in terms of defensive presence (will absolutely be a top 5 defender)…and on most teams he’ll be a 20ppg guy (unless hes surrounded by ball dominant scorers)

There is no doubt in my mind he will be a top 10 player in the NBA (probably top 5, although rating players can get very subjective) by the time he turns 23.

Hes very good but lets not forget he was on far and away the best team in the ncaa’s and in high school his team had a losing record. hes not the type of player you throw the ball and say win us some games. but on that note he should immediately be one of the best Pick and roll defenders for his ability to switch, show, hedge and help. you can almost immediately build a defense around him

If he’s got the defensive end sussed then he will contribute immediately and can be fed easy baskets whilst his offensive game develops. I’ll be interested to see what sort of weight he is in a couple of years time, if he gets to 245 to 250lbs he’ll be a real handful.
