festar35ParticipantAnthony Davis has truly become a player who has captured and drawn my attention, I was wondering what you think his offensive ceiling will be?
I really hope he can develop like Chris Bosh in terms of an outside shot as he already has a great knack for creating his own shot.
He has a fluidity like not a lot of players in the NBA and with that soft touch the ability to be an above average shooting big man.

jwall1ParticipantI think he could develop an outside game like Tim Duncan. I feel that he is better suited playing inside and in the post as opposed to on the outside like Bosh. Not sure if he will ever become a shooter like Bosh, but he should be able to have a reliable 15-20 footer in the near future.

livinlegend4blkParticipantHe is already better in my opinion than bosh bosh just attempt more jump shots than AD he can become a dirk type shooter I believe he is only going to get better with time and AD is in his second year.

Mr. HookShotParticipantPeople forget Bosh is the third option on a championship team, having won just two straight championships. Just saying.

lalailaParticipantI don’t see why this guy won’t be consistant 25-27ppg scorer, add a few DPOY awards, efficiency, leadership and I see the best player in the league in somewhere 2020 season

TallmanNYCParticipantConsidering this guy has just come off a pretty long stretch of averaging about 25 points per game (post all star game, 18 games), I’m not sure why you guys want him to start taking 15 to 20 foot jumpers. Will his jumper get better? Sure, I suspect it will. That is an area that players ususally improve a bit on. He has nice touch at the FT line. Heck, he could probably develop a three point shot if he and his coaches wanted him doing that. But it would kind of be a waste of his talent to pull him that far from the basket, in my opinion.
Add in all that shot blocking ability and plenty of rebounding, and the future is now. He is a star now.

HitsterParticipantDavis looks to be defensive minded than Bosh was early in his career and is certainly ahead of where Bosh was in his 2nd season. But we then have to factor in the next 5 years Bosh had in Toronto where he averaged over 22ppg every year, his unselfish role in Miami, his two titles, 9 All Star games he has achieved by the age of 30. If Davis could have that resume over the next 8 or 9 years, I’m sure he’d be very happy.
Finding a good upside for Davis is hard as I would be reluctant to compare anyone to Tim Duncan/KG and I don’t see him being the sort of elite scorer with the scoring range that Dirk has had over the last 15 plus years in the NBA.
But Davis is looking a legit superstar who can put up 20/10 for years if he stays sound and should be a multiple All Star who will get All NBA recognition in due course.

B-ball fanParticipantDavis already is an outstanding jump shooter. He is shooting better than 40% both on catch-and-shoot and pull-up jumpers on the season. We just have to see if/when he will extend his range to beyond the arc.
Davis is really unique in that he has elite potential as a shooter/face-up player and as an interior scorer. His ability to attack the rim off-the-dribble is incredible. He just turned 21 and he is already one of the NBA’s better iso-scorers. He has the most complete game of any young NBA big and once he develops a more consistent post game and three-point range, he should be basically unguardable. It is almost unfair since he is so good as an offensive rebounder and transition scorer, so he gets easy buckets as well as the difficult ones.
Davis has basically past the point where he can easily be compared to other players. He is a very modern big man, so it is hard to compare him big men of previous eras, and he is more accomplished than Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Garnett were at the same age. He is kinda similar to Dirk stylistically, but he is much more dangerous around the rim and much more dangerous as an offensive rebounder/roll man/interior scorer than Dirk ever was. Plus, he is a much better defender and rebounder.

XYRYXParticipantSo I just received my game worn size 22 Dikembe Mutombo Adidas basketball sneaker signed with #55 as a trophy in my new appartment when I move out to a new city exactly next month… listen:
Watching Anthony Davis playing defense is incredible. His timing, movement and positioning are phenomenal for a player his age. His basketball IQ is right on paar with his physical tools and this makes him unique to me. There have been players with his physical tools before like Anthony Randolph but his long learned guard skills together with the natural ability of how to move on offense on guarding or chasing opponents make him different.
His defensive abilities make him a lock for a top 3 position at his peak if not WAY more. And with WAY more I mean he can really be a complete player if you consider him getting +20 ppg at this stage of his career. His shot is so much better than I thought it would be. He can create space so easily handling the ball cause he is so good at it playing guard most of his young years before the growth spurt and health is basically my biggest concern. I don’t think he his very injury prone or something but he had back luck in his rookie season with multiple injuries but seems very strong, muscular ballanced and quick build with a phenomenal reach and area he can cover.
The best thing I can think about is Minnesotas entering 2k version of KG. Garnett was also very young and still developing physically coming to the league. When Garnett started to fill out a bit in year 3 he became a mismatch playing any opponent.
I never thought Davis would be such a good offensive and versatile player on the front end so early. I knew his handles were good and his height, reach and jumping ability elite but that he get’s along so good from the outside, the top of the key, in the high post playing the pick and roll and also his free throw shooting is so good right now that I can’t think of a better comparison AND ceiling right now. There is no reason why he souln’t be this generations KG unless a mejor injury blows him away.
I really hope to see him beeing healthy and I have no doubt he will succeed big time tin the league. A top 5 player and multiple MVP runner up with many many all defensive team honors should be possible then. He might even be the type of guy who lifts the Tyreekes, Gordons and Holidays of this league to fame and glory if he just stays healthy. There is nothing aside from injuries that let me believe Anthony Davis will be a beast and MVP / DPOY for many years to come.

clarkpkParticipantGood enough that someone in a few years is described as "The next Anthony Davis". Young players always get compared to some prior player when discussing their upside. But for the great ones it eventually becomes clear that they aren’t the "next Tim Duncan" or the "next Lebron"; they are the first of their own kind.
I think Davis has a chance to be that good, and unusual enough in his ability that you can’t readily compare him to another player.
