valentineHow does Andrew Bogut get away with his illegal screens? Bogut extends his arms and leans into you while sometimes grabbing, and it has gotten curry/klay so many open looks.

BigChamp12ParticipantIt’s nothing new. He and Draymond does it all the time. It’s not the reason they win, but it’s definite a big part of getting Klay and Steph open looks. They’re never stationary.

doubledribblerParticipantThat has to be the most frustrating part of being a defender. It’s bad enough you’re guarding someone like Curry, then not only do you get picked to death, the majority of the time they are obviously illegal screens. I can’t blame Bogut or Green for doing it if they rarely get called for it. Giving a teammate an extra 1-2 seconds to get off a shot is huge when you consider how fast guys rotate and close out.
FYI, it seems most guys set illegal screens in the NBA. I would say Bogut’s might be the worst in the league because he never stops moving. I saw 4 in that video, so 4 offensive fouls that were not called and 9 points scored by the Warriors that shouldn’t have counted.

Hype MachineBogut knows that as long as those screens are for the splash brothers, they’re not going to call fouls.
Hes been around long enough to have learned a thing or two about protected players.
Its not his fault…if the refs called fouls his technique would change to adapt.
The footage speaks for itself, but is anyone suprised?

OdieParticipantIt’s not Bogut doesn’t know how to set a proper screen. He’s able to do it in international ball. Basically, you get away with what can. It’s all dependent on the refs. Just like with travelling, they just need to call it!!

The GoatParticipantThats vet experience, knowing how to get things done..! There are countless times you can see post players hooking on a drop step, guys walking off their pivot, carrying the ball on a crossover.
I dont so much mind the illegal post play, physical D and illegal screens as much as walking and carrying the ball..
Did anyone see that 8 step fast break layup attempt by Augustin (..?) earlier this year?

Hype MachineIt’s not just Bogut either. Check out this beauty by Brandon Rush.

This was in the game that got the Warriors to 72 wins. Check the scoreline at the time and tell me if the Refs might have been a little swayed by how things were unfolding in the quest for 73
You’ll note…different techniques (Rush with the NFL style screen, Bogut with the moving ballroom dancing style), yet equally effective and equally a foul.

Afactor4ParticipantOh yeah. This isn’t a new thing. This has been going on for two years now at least. Bogut is on that Reggie Evans level of dirty.

benny15Participantits has been going on, but way longer than two years, and not just on bogut but widespread througout the league. almost every single starting center in the NBA does it. watch any of the play-off games, and you wont find any full game that it wont happen.

Hype MachineOne things for sure…Bogut doesnt get anywhere near the credit he deserves for his contribution to the Warriors.
For a dude with no athleticism, nor the ability to straighten his arm, hes remarkably effective.
Hes making Dwight Howard look like Chris Dudley out there.
