Lebron James and Stephen Curry will be team captains and will be selecting the teams from the selection pool this year. All other starters and reserves are to be drafted by the team Captains, Lebron has 1st pick because Curry and the west have homecourt advantage.

These guys have to be very smart about who they pick because free agency is coming up and it could be a recruiting pitch. Curry will likely pick his teammates 1st same with Lebron and Love. Its likely that Curry knows Lebron wont pick Irving and Lebron probably knows Curry wont pick Westbrook for KD.

    My prediction

    EAST-Lebron

    PG-Westbrook, Wall, Lilliard

    SG-Harden, Beal, Oladipo

    SF-Lebron, Antetekoumpo

    PF- Love, Porzingis

    C-Cousins, Towns

    WEST-Curry

    PG-Curry, Irving, Lowry

    SG-Thompson, Derozan

    SF-Durant, Butler

    PF-Green, Aldridge

     C-Davis, Embiid, Horford

LeBron goes first. He said he wants to win. Afterwards he’ll say it was either Kyrie or KD. He’ll say that to acknowledge his former teammate and show no hard feelings – the “PC” play – and then justify taking KD by saying it was a tactic to stop Curry from taking his teammate.
I think it’s easier to justify taking KD and also he can say tactically leaving Kyrie for Curry to pick also means Currys team get stuck with two small PGs. This means Kyrie will be the last starter chosen, going to Curry.
    Team A: LeBron, KD.
Curry’s pick is interesting cos there is no apparent connection to any other starter. It will be between Davis, Boogie, Giannis, Embiid, DeRozan and Harden. It won’t be Harden or DeRozan knowing he may get stuck with Kyrie. He picks Giannis.
    Team B: Curry, Giannis.
LeBrons next one could be a message pick, a pick to show Cavs staff who to try and make a deal for to help him now. As Embiid is under a big contract and Boogie is a FA to be, this line of thinking means he’ll pick Davis and play himself as PG in this ASG. Otherwise, he picks Harden to play PG. I think this is more likely and gives him an out of asked why he didn’t pick Kyrie “I had my PG”.
    Team A: LeBron, KD, Harden.
Curry needs a big. Davis, Boogie or Embiid. I think Embiid gets the rookie treatment and gets dissed. I think Brow gets taken.
    Team B: Curry, Giannis, Davis
LeBron realises he needs a guard or he has to be the two, so he goes DeRozan.
Team A: LeBron, KD, Harden, DeRozan.
Curry gets Boogie to play with AD.
Team B: Curry, Giannis, Davis, Boogie.
LeBron needs a 5 and – viola! – Embiid is there. Conveniently means he leaves Kyrie for Curry.
Team A: Harden, DeRozan, LeBron, KD, Embiid.
Team B: Curry, Kyrie, Giannis, Davis, Boogie.

Curry gets first pick of the reserves – Klay or Dray? Doesn’t matter, he’ll get both cos LeBron will choose Love. So, lets say Klay, Love, Dray, back to LeBron.

Now it gets interesting. They both take picks they can justify from here on.

11 guys left. Beal, Wall, Lowry, Russ, KAT, Butler, KP, Horford, Aldridge, Lillard and Oladipo.

LeBron says he wants to win, so he takes the MVP – Russ.

Curry doesn’t have a 2 guard yet so he takes Butler.

LeBron says he has DeRozan so he gets his teammate, Lowry.

Curry, says he took Butler so he’ll take his teammate KAT.

LeBron says he needs a point and according to midget JJ Barea no one likes John Wall so he takes Lillard. Curry tries to put that fire out on orders of the NBA and takes Wall. Lebron takes Aldridge cos he’s former teammates with Lillard. Curry has Wall so he takes Beal. LeBron says he needs to have a guy to support in the dunk comp so he takes Oladipo. Curry has a choice between KP and Horford and takes Horford cos he has Kyrie. KP is picked last, but everyone “knows” he’s a starter.

Team A: Harden, DeRozan, James, Durant, Embiid.
Bench: Love, Westbrook, Lillard, Aldridge, Lowry, Oladipo, Porzingis.

Team B: Curry, Irving, Antetekoumpo, Davis, Cousins.
Bench: Wall, Beal, Thompson, Green, Horford, Butler, Towns.

       I was pretty close!

Looks like LeBron went down the politically correct path and picked Kyrie second. This flipped the rest of the starters.

For the reserves, LeBron took Wall and Beal instead of Lillard and Lowry. The rest were correct.

My guess on the order was

Starting with LeBron: KD, Giannis, Kyrie, Harden, Davis, Embiid, Boogie, DeRozan

      Then reserves, starting with Curry:

Klay, Love, Dray, Russ, Butler, Wall, Towns, Beal, Lillard, Aldridge, Lowry, Oladipo, Horford, Porzingis

The picking of teams is a nice idea but we want to see the draft, I know there are egos involved but all those players have been involved in an NBA draft so the process is no different. Or like when All NBA Teams, MVP voting, ESPN top 50 or 100 players, everyone has been ranked.

I’d love one team to try and go smallball and start taking a lot of guards and small forwards just to see what the other team did.

LBJ will pick KD first I’d think, Curry will likely go Giannis I think, LBJ takes Harden as he needs a backcourter, Curry takes AD to get first frontcourter, LBJ takes Embeast or DMC to get a big, Curry takes Irving to spice this up, LBJ then takes other of DMC or Embeast and Curry is left with DeRozan

    James, Durant, Harden, Embeast,DMC

    Curry, Giannis, AD, Irving, DeRozan

Team LBJ has size advantage, KD plays SG whilst Team Curry is smallball with a 3 guard line up and DeRozan as nominal SF.

      Yep, that’s what i’m doing.

You know Embiid is the 9th men, DeRozan the 10th(you also know horford should be the 23rd man, Lowry the 24th, they’ll play 8 mins haha)..

      Bron-KD-Harden-DMC-Embiid

      Curry-Giannis-Brow-Kyrie-DeRozan.

Reserves, if you’re curry you’re taking your guy Klay, or you go BPA with westbrook ?.

Lebron should take the other one available(an all star maniac in westB or a great shooter in Klay), but he’s also supposed to take Love, while love wants to play with Klay.

If steph takes Klay as 1st reserve, lebron takeS Westbrook to play with KD ? before selecting Love !.

      Love boat !!!

      I’ll try the reserves…

      Klay-Draymond(warriors)-Towns(steph has to go big here)-Porzingis(4th true big)-Wall(BPA, 3rd PG)-Beal-Lowry

      Westbrook-Love(UCLA)-Lillard(lebron will go gunner)-Butler(BPA and he has 3PG already)-Aldridge(4th true big)-Dipo(athlete)-Horford.

Thinking that LeBron wouldn’t put he and KD (Team LeBron’s first pick) AND Giannis as the main 3 guys, if I am Steph I am going with Anthony Davis. Then pairing that big boy with either Cousins or Embiid.  So if LeBron goes with Kyrie or Harden with his 2nd pick then if I am Steph I am going with Giannis at 2.  Ok. Bron took Harden at 2. Can’t pass him up. At 4 a Bron goes with Kyrie for the all offense Core of a Bron, KD, Harden, and Kyrie.  Ok, now Steph takes another big man for the Giannis, AD, and Cousins (barely over Embiid) front line, LeBron goes with Embiid with Steph’s next pick being DeRozan.

Somebody brought this up somewhere else: should it be a serpentine draft?

Doc Rivers and some other guys wanna televise the draft.

    Yeah. That would be cool!

The second round would be even MORE fun (drafting the bench guys). Who drafts/wants Westbrook aka Russellmania? Does LeBron take Kevin Love? I think Love would be an IDEAL third or forth big for Steph.

Kyle Lowry might be the sleeper 2nd round pick as a solid point guard type who can pass, defend, and also get his own shot.

Russ, KAT, Green, and Klay should be four of the top reserves off the board. Almost forgot about Porzingas. He could disappear or win the ASG MVP trophy.

What I wanna see? Somebody get a 5×5! Maybe one team (or both) gets to 200 points.

Nah. If LeBron goes with Durant at 1, I love a bunch of other guys but if I am Steph I am locking down the backcourt and going with Harden. Also thinking that down the road, with my pick of reserves I get either Westbrook or Klay Thompson after LeBron gets his top pick of reserves.

Curry then thinks that Bron/KD doesn’t go with Greek Freak as a Small Forward Big Three. So they go Kyrie. Curry goes with AD.  LeBron goes with Embiid. Curry takes Giannis. lebron goes with Cousins and Curry takes DeRozan.  Curry has a small ball core with Harden as his backcourt mate, DeRozan as the third guard, Greek Freak at the 3, and AD as the big.  Curry then looks to get 2 of these 4. Either Klay or Russ at guard, then KAT or Porzingas as the secondary big.  Draymond Green and Kevin Love look like great fits for Team Steph, too.

I’ love to see the length and athleticism of this frontcourt Anthony Davis, Giannis, Durant,Curry, Kyrie bench of Towns, Horford, Butler, Klay, Oladipo, Lowry, Wall.

So other team would be Cousins, Embiid, Lebron, Derozan, Harden bench of Aldridge, Porzingis, Love,  Draymond, Beal Westbrook, Lillard..
