Waiting for the uproar for Blake being on 2nd team over David Lee and Paul George.

Lol I guess those are the perks that come with being considered a “superstar”

    According to RealGM:

LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul have been named to the All-NBA First Team.

On the Second Team are Carmelo Anthony, Blake Griffin, Marc Gasol, Tony Parker and Russell Westbrook.

On the Third Team are David Lee, Paul George, Dwight Howard, Dwyane Wade and James Harden.

    Thoughts?

I think it should’ve been Zack Randolph and Carmelo as the 2nd team forwards……Blake is an amazing talent, but i dont think he played like a all nba perfomer this season……..His numbers were down all across the board…

I’m missing Z-Bo too here but at least Marc gets smoe credit and you can still make arguments to switch him over Duncan. I have really no clue why Blake is valued so high. He was good this year and once he got hurt the Clippers have been losing fast but this isn’t over potential and Z-Bo and David Lee played both better this year. Call me again when Blake starts playing like a man and not just like a poster boy.

The first team looks right. You could make a case for Marc Gasol in the first team, but whatever.

I would have liked to see Harden on the second team, but I guess they classified him as a guard. I would have put him on the second team instead of Blake Griffin. The second team is full of MVP candidates for this season. Parker, Carmelo, Westbrook, and Gasol. Harden belongs there instead of Blake.

Blake is a heck of a player though. The Clippers were up 2-0 on Memphis with a healthy Blake, then he gets hurt and Memphis takes the series in 6 games.

I don’t have a problem with him there over David Lee but I would have put Paul George there over him. As average as Blake Griffin is on defense, he’s still light years ahead of David Lee.

I would have put Roy Hibbert on the 3rd team over Dwight Howard.

Could one argue that Steph Curry should have made it over Dwyane Wade? Their stats are almost identical but Curry played more games at 78 than Wade did at 69. Curry shot better from the 3 and at the line as well.

    Stephen Curry Stats

    22.9 ppg, 6.9 apg, 4.0 rpg, 1.6 spg, 90% ft, 45.1 % fg, 45.3 % 3fg, 3.1 tpg

    Dwyane Wade Stats

    21.2 ppg, 5.1 apg, 5.0 rpg, 1.9 spg, 72.5 % ft, 52.1 % fg, 25.8 % 3fg, 2.8 tpg.

Wade put up similar numbers while shooting 52% from the field and being a very good defender. Curry is horrific on that end. That’s the big difference between the two as far as All-NBA goes IMO.

I was trying to think of someone I would put on the third team over Wade and I think you hit the nail on the head.

It’s amazing to me how Dwyane Wade has been in the league all these years and still cannot shoot it from downtown.

I know right but other than Tony Parker, Dwyane Wade is the only guard ranked top 20 in field goal percentage. Tony Parker is ranked 17th with 52.2% and Wade is at 19th with 52.1% To think of a player other than a Center or a Power Forward to shoot that high from the field is very impressive. Lebron shot a high percentage as well but he played Power Forward technically a good portion of the season. I still think Steph made valid a case for being named 3rd team over Wade though.

Except that part of the reason that Parker and Wade shoot a good FG% is that they can’t and thus don’t shoot from downtown. That’s also why, for example, Steph Curry has a better TS% than Parker or Wade.

Having Blake Griffin on the 2nd team is a total joke and a slap in the face to Zach. I know, I know, Blake isn’t bad, but he’s not better than Zach and David Lee! no way!!!

    West PF:
    Duncan
    Lee
    Zach
    LaMarcus
    Dirk
    Blake

So Blake should be on the 6th All Western Conference team.
