valentineLen: 17p – 8.5r – 1a – 3blk ……………………… 55fg% – 80ft%
Cody: 15p – 7.5r – 1.4a – 1.2blk – 1.4 stls……… 63fg% – 60ft%
Len is a 7’1 C with a 7’5 wingspan while cody is a 6’11 PF with a 6’8 wingspan.

B FreeParticipantI gaurentee he will have at least a 6’11wingspan. Everytime someone says that a player has a shorter wingspan than there height like the Morris twins or Blake in never happens. The Nike and Lebron measurments are rarely correct.

SiggyParticipantMaybe around 6’10-6’11, but not anything more than that from the eye test. That wouldn’t even be considered average for the PF position, let alone the C position where he’s projected to spend some time at. One eye test that you can use that works for me is to see how far the player’s arms reach when relaxed. Mid thigh can be considered average, anything lower than that is above average.
Even if he just has a slightly below average wingspan does he have other physical attributes to make up for the length?

HaleParticipantMaybe it’s just me, but I’ve never considered Zeller to be a center. He seems like 100% PF to me, and while his wingspan isn’t that great, he’s tall for his position. Most PF’s in the NBA measure out around 6’8-6’9 w/o shoes, I could definitely see him measuring 6’10.5 so he’s at least somewhat making up for his lack of length. I’ve never thought Zeller should be the #1 pick, but he unless he regresses from last year (haven’t watched IU yet this year) he deserves a spot in the top 5, maybe top 3.

jwostrumParticipanti like len better for two reasons. im not a big cody zeller fan, and len is a true center with a good offensive game and a great wingspan with good potential on defence. and len had his way with noel in marylands first game of the year, which was very impressive considering the hype on noel defensive ability. i don’t see zeller as a great defensive bigman, and i don’t see him having the size or strenth to push around nba bigs.

SiggyParticipantLen had a great game, but I think people are putting way too much stock in that performance. Noel is currently NOT a good man defender. Neither is Wiltjer or Cauley-Stein.

jwostrumParticipantsiggy, noel will have to be a much better man defender in the nba and put on some muscle when he gets to the nba. also he can not bite on so many shot fakes or nba pf will go right around him every time. hes not really strong enough to defend in the post right now, and pf with good jumpers will get him in the air and go around him a lot.

SiggyParticipantOf course he’s gonna have to be a good man defender and he has the tools to be one. He just isn’t one right now. Not only does he have very good length, but he also has very quick feet. What he’s missing on that end is obviously bulk, but he’s also lacking instincts. He doesn’t do his work early and allows guys to get position early. You’ve already covered the biting on fakes part. He needs to realize that there’s more to defense than blocking shots and that the defensive possession doesn’t stop once the shot goes up. His rebounding numbers might look decent so far, but Kentucky is allowing a ton of O-boards. Noel and his inability or reluctance to box out is one of the main reasons why.

jwostrumParticipantthen it kinda seems that he might want to forget guarding the perimeter and learn to guard the post, because i have yet to see that, and i don’t think i will. he has good lenth and quick feet, your right, but for all his hype out of high school on defence it seems way to much. he is not even close to the defender anthony davis is at the same time. i don’t really see him as a great post defender in the future because i don’t think he will develope the right post instincts, because he thinks to much about the highlight blocked shot. i think when he gets to the nba he will always be a great shot blocker but on people driving to the lane from the perimeter and lazy shots in the post, and he think he will put on maybe 10-20 pounds and become a better rebounder because of athletisism and added muscle. plus i think he will get teams extra shots on diving for lose balls, which you don’t see many bigs do often. but still i don’t think the great post insticts will ever be there and i think he will end up having a lot of injurys unless he puts on more muscle and even if he does he still might have alot of injurys the way he throws himself around for loose balls. theres a reason bigs don’t do that much, they get hurt easier than sf or sg, and pg. too many issues with the knees doing that. this kid being compared to anthony davis was over kill even from a defensive standpoint, and i think its too much pressure to try to live up to there because of davis offensive skills and great defensive instincts, and he does not have the non-stop motor davis has.

OfficialI thought Cody’s hustle and IQ was gonna make him a top rebounder this year. guess i was wrong

B FreeParticipantLen and other players like him scare me because of the hype on guys like Mullens and Koufos. They never seem to have the athleticisim to keep up once they get to the NBA or are to soft and settle for jumpers.

Warned2820ParticipantI haven’t seen enough of Len this year, but imo Zeller will be a massive bust. I don’t think he is an NBA starter.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantZeller is still seen as a center as he has not yet flashed his ability to hit consistently from midrange. Yes he can shoot free throws well but that means nothing about his true shooting ability; he’s still being passive on open jumpers this season

IndianaBasketballParticipantCody Zeller is going to have a tough time living up to everyone’s expectations this season.
