Lotto StudParticipantI absolutely know anything about this guy but all of what I read on this forum. I would like to know why do a lot of you not like Burks & think he is "fools gold"?

Dale WorthingtonParticipantNo clue. I love this guy. I would consider taking him in the top 5 if I were a GM. He’s that good.

ilike.panochasParticipantI don’t know very many that DOESN’T like him, so I don’t know where you are hearing this from, by all accounts he is a possible top 10 pick by everyone. He has quality NBA SG talent/skills and all he needs to work on is a consistent 3 point shot (which will come in time).

JoeWolf1I don’t think he’s quite as good as a lot of people on this site do. I’ve seen him play probably around 15 times over the last two years and I do have him ranked in the 9-14 range so I do think he is a lotto pick, but his 3 point shooting isn’t the only issue. He isn’t an NBA 1st option, he’s a first option on a decent Colorado team. If you put him on very good college team like Ohio State, Sullinger is still the 1st option. He’s not that NBA ready, would not hack it at a starter as a rookie and could use to put on about 15-20 lbs, and I think he’s a 2nd option in the NBA at best.
I don’t hate Burks, I just think he’s going to be a 13-16 ppg scorer who excells in transition and getting to the lane. He gets to the line at a very high rate, but without being the 1st option and a primary ball handler, he isn’t going be as effective especially against better competition. He’s needs the ball to be effective because he can’t shoot off screens. I wouldn’t bank on the miraculous appearance of a 3 point shot in his game, because he really hasn’t improved since last year, he’s just shot more and handled the ball more as Higgins has taken a back seat. He’s shot more 3’s this year for a lower percentage and the NBA line is further out, that just means he is a 30% shooter on long 2 pointers in the NBA.
What he will give you is a long player who can rebound well for a guard, a guy who excels in transition not only finishing, but finding teammates and a guy who can slash and get to the line. A good ROLE player at the next level and a potential 2nd option. Not a guy you take with a top 5 pick, a guy you take from 9-14.

sammybuckeye13ParticipantI love Burks, he has arguably the most mature mid-range game of anyone in college. Just for some reason he’s a terrible 3-point shooter at 30.3%. He reminds me somewhat of a taller, more athletic Nolan Smith in that he’s a natural born scorer who gets most of his points within 18 feet and can handle the ball like a point guard. And a great rebounder. If he could prove that he could be a dependable three-point shooter he’d be a top 10 lock.

dmo21ParticipantI have not seen Burks play, but from what Joe Wolf has said, it kinda sounds like he has a game like DeRozan… Not a primary first option, but a good second option. No three ball but a very good mid range. Likes to slash and can get to the line at will. Both finish better in transition than half court.. I think Burks may have a better handle than Demar, but Demar has the better athleticism and is overall a better player. Am I right or am I wrong??

nappy headed whiteyhe is a turd IMO, you just put up his 3 point percentage @joewolf, which is 30%. and at @sammybuckeye, he has a mature mid range game in college? ok that’s cool but guess what? a college 3 pointer is mid range in the NBA bro. And @dmo, dude he is NO WHERE near Derozan, don’t get it twisted, he is not even close to the same athlete and Burks is painfully skinny. If he gets picked in the top 10, that team is getting a bust, mark my words…

r377ParticipantMy theory on Burks and most of the SG’s in the draft……..
In the NBA SG is the weakest position and even some of the top players Kobe, Allen, JJ, Manu will declining / retiring soon.
I think Burks will get drafted higher than what he really should based on team need and the fact there is minimal good SG in the NCAA and also NBA level.

dmo21Participant@nappy… why is he not like DeRozan, from what I have heard, which I stated, it sounds like he is. You just said no he is not like him, so could you tell me why he is not similar… You said he is not the athlete, which I also stated.. And DeRozan was and is still pretty skinny… I’m not saying you are wrong, but just give me some insight on why they are different..
