L.ShapParticipantWhat position will he play. He really seems like he could be an NBA Power Forward to me. The weird thing is everyone fancies him as a Small Forward, but he’s not a great shooter.
Also what team would he fit best with?

deuce4offHe’s a SF.

themidnightriderParticipantAminu is nothing. He is a college power forward in a NBA SF body. I think he is a total bust. Yes, he has amazing raw athleticism….but he has zero lateral foot speed or ability. He has no jump shot- he just is a monster around the basket. This will not transfer to the NBA and I am sure that anyone who picks him will regret it. Now, James Johnson, who actually has ballhandling skills, will probably wind up a legit starter (i’m not saying allstar).

jorrye24He is a college 4 in an NBA SF body (just like he said). He will not be much in the NBA,but he may turn into a lockdown defender because he does have good lateral speed. He is too raw to be an NBA player if he were to leave this year,he has zero perimeter ability and a (usually) low bball iq…doesnt scream success to me. I actually saw him play in high school when he went to norcross, and he hasnt gotten any better since then honestly. His weaknesses from back then are still the same so I think we are looking at his true potential right now. He looks like he has potential so he may breakout next year but if he hasnt improved in two years, why expect change now?

osirisboy9ParticipantAminu is dangerously similar to the UNC version of Antwan Jamison. Jamison was a 4 in an NBA 3’s body, but had a tremendous touch around the basket a nice little midrange and was terrific rebounder, and it hasnt been untill later in his career that he developed the three point jumpshot. Aminu could defienatly stand to stay in college another year but i think he will have success in the league because of his soft touch and great rebounding ability, the jumpshot will develop over time.

cycloParticipantHe’s Darius Miles.
Can’t shoot, so he can’t play SF.
Too undersized, not strong enougn to play PF.I’d take his teammate James Johnson over him.

canesboy6ParticipantAminu seems a little overated too. Of the bunch, Id say Jeff Teague makes the best pro. There were times he was absolutely unstoppable this year against the best competition he faced, He is a little rough around the edges but has good pg height, is a great athlete and a heck of a player. James Johnson, If you’ve watched him play, Is a semi-professional Anotoine Walker Impersonater. Has great size and strength to go with the skills to play the three. He can be a really tough assignment to guard so naturally…he jacks up 3 points all day. I dont know what his issue is, if he is lazy or out of shape or something, but something isnt there. I know its early to jump down his throat, but I really think this year was a poor coaching job all around by Dino Guadio at Wake. He has talent only the 1 seeds in the tourney can rival, but they lost to ACC bottom feeders all conference Poorly coached and disciplined team, crashed after getting to number 1 mid season.

bluedevils12Participantthe best advice i can give aminu is to stay in school. I mean he really doesnt have a position in the league right now. he’s way to damn slow and his foot speed aint good enough to be a SF. 2 weak to play PF. he should stay in school and work 2 figure out jus wat his game is. He cant really jus break an opponent off the dribble and blow by and at the same time he doesnt even shoot that well. i see him as a slower version of marvin williams without the shooting touch

Al-Farouq AminuParticipantThanks for the advice, bluedevils12.
Marvin Williams, no way, Josh Smith would be a better comparision, lol…

nthegoodlifeParticipantThats borderline creepy!!! You respond like you’re literally Aminu, IDENTITY CRISIS.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantInstead of blogging, shouldn’t Aminu be working on his stregnth and offensive game? Maybe find a position…
0 - Posted on: Mon, 05/04/2009 - 10:07am #148304
Al-Farouq AminuParticipantThat’s what I call returning to school, and be a top 3 pick in ’10 !!!
0- Posted on: Tue, 05/05/2009 - 10:38am #148309
Hood KidParticipantas it stands right now he’ll be forced to play at power forward,he’s limited of the bounce,he doesn’t have decent stroke to play at small forward and overall he’s not that quick,he didn’t play much from the perimeter and when he did he wasn’t efficient at all,but he’s got nba athleticism and a good but still raw post game, and solid footwork,he’s definitely got potential to be a good starter in the nba with refined offense

The8thDeadlySinParticipantAminu will not be a top 3 next year. Maybe he will go in the lottery but not top three.

Al-Farouq AminuParticipantI love to prove doubters wrong, we’ll see who is right at the end…
0 - Posted on: Tue, 05/05/2009 - 4:24pm #148443
The8thDeadlySinParticipantSo are you saying that behind John Wall and Ed Davis, “you” are the most NBA ready??
0 - Posted on: Tue, 05/05/2009 - 6:33pm #148452
Al-Farouq AminuParticipantThis is what’s likely gonna happen in ’10
1 John Wall is still the top baller
2. Ed Davis is 2nd cause he is got natural talents
3. Myself
4. Greg Monroe-lacks athleticism but is got skills like Aldridge
5. Teague-that’s my man right there, the future All-Star combo guard; unstoppable
6. Willy Warren-the kid can shoot the lights out, reminds me of Ben Gordon
7. Cole Aldrich- kind like Nick Collison if ya’ll know what I am talkin’ about; both played for the Jayhawks
8. Derrick Favors-flies like a bird; dunks on opponents face like he is Josh Smith0 - Posted on: Tue, 05/05/2009 - 6:47pm #148453
Al-Farouq AminuParticipantDonatas Motiejunas-don’t tell me its another European future bust
Paul George- fresno state ??? what kind of players can it produce??? all I know is that Dominic McGuire went there, it ain’t good
Soloman Alabi/Demarcus Cousins/Renardo Sidney–big men who will not be ready enough next year to be taken in top 10
0 - Posted on: Wed, 05/06/2009 - 3:41am #148473
The8thDeadlySinParticipantI would choose “you” over the euro guy but I dont know about at 3. I mean, “you” are limited. Good athlete but not a great inside game, not a great outside game, not a defined position. Where do “you” want to play this and next year?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 05/06/2009 - 5:29am #148479
Al-Farouq AminuParticipantYa’ll see, what I find critics criticize me the most is that,
1. I don’t got that jump shot; that long rage
2. I am out of position; a pf in a sf bodyso coming back this year, as my man Johnson hired the agent and will be leaving, I’ll be playing that PF position and work really hard on gaining my strength and bulking up. Think about it, when Josh Smith entered the league from HS, he was labeled as a SF, and weighted only 215 pds, but like many other players, he is now able to play a differenet position.
The other thing is to learn to shoot; especially the 3’s. It’ll come with practice and I am pretty sure I’ll be a better shooter a year from now cause I got that good work ethic if ya’ll know what I am saying.
Regarding that #3 pick, I don’t think any of the other players besides Ed and John will be both more talented and gifted as I would be in a year. And if it wasn’t for being picked at #3, I would not have come back and forgo all that good cash and money…
Stay real homie !!!!

The8thDeadlySinParticipantSo “you” want to be a PF on the NBA?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 05/06/2009 - 7:31am #148483
Al-Farouq AminuParticipantWhen ya’ll look at guys like
Chris Bosh, Shawn Marion, Hakim Warrick, Tyrus Thomas, and Brandon Wright
none of them is taller than 6’10 or strong at all, yet, all of them have been playing the 4 position. The NBA plays above the rim, it is what athleticism that counts the most in terms of positioning.
I got no idea why ppl compare me w/ Deng or Marvin, it makes no sense that I would always play as a 3.0 - Posted on: Wed, 05/06/2009 - 7:36am #148485
The8thDeadlySinParticipantSo that means that “you” are going to guard Duncan, Dirk, Garnett, Bosh, Stoutamire, Smith, West, Boozer. Can you do that? Can you score on those guys??
0 - Posted on: Wed, 05/06/2009 - 8:11am #148491
Al-Farouq AminuParticipantShiiiit, I got so many finals to study this week !!!!!
Anyways, it really depends, Im sure I’ll have no problem guarding guys like west (undersized and slow), Garnett (old and more perimeter orientated), Smith (has very limited offensive skills).
For guys like Dirk, Duncan, Stoudamire, or Boozer, I’ll have to see how my team is constructed, to see whether we’ll have other big guys. Remember I have the speed advantage over Duncan and Boozer. Stoudamire would be a hassel, but possibly 3 out of 4 nights I’ll be playing the 4.
The 3’s still have Lebron, carmelo, Durant, and Granger, so its not like guarding the bigs would make me want to be a SF
0 - Posted on: Wed, 05/06/2009 - 2:32pm #148546
The8thDeadlySinParticipantYea man. I understand ya on the finals. I have three test monday and two on tuesday. Sux balls. So here is a question for ya. I know this has turned into a conversation between two people but where do you want to play? What team are you best fitted to play for??
0 - Posted on: Wed, 05/06/2009 - 6:58pm #148573
Al-Farouq AminuParticipantHard question for now, I prefer to play in the same team that my brother gets drafted at, whether how long he actually could stay in the league is still a question.
Since I lived in Georgia, I have always like the Hawks, J-Smoove and I have been knowing each other and being friends for a while. And Atlanta also needs a power forward so that Smith could play the 3, and Marvin can be our 6th guy contributing big time off the bench.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/07/2009 - 5:19am #148595
nthegoodlifeParticipantIt was ok at first, but it has now become more than annoying that you’re pretending to be Aminu. How is Aminu a top 5 pick, another bad draft next year?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/07/2009 - 9:38am #148643
The8thDeadlySinParticipantLOL…I love it

redactorParticipantJust to clear up any confusion, the poster on this board with the Al-Farouq Aminu screen name and avatar is NOT the player himself. I am Farouq’s uncle, and I have personally confirmed that Farouq has had nothing to do with the posts on this board that this imposter is making.

deuce4offBosh and Warrick are easily 6’10”, and Al you are a SF. If you think you’re really going to compete at PF in the league you’re dreaming. You mention players like Marion, Warrick, Ty Thomas, Josh Smith, Brandan Wright….all of those players are extremely more athletic than you so to think you can play the PF position like them in the league is absurd. I think this site has you pegged perfectly as a Luol Deng/Shareef clone. Work on your lateral quickness, ballhandling, shooting and add some muscle and you should be able to hold your own in the league at SF….but that’s only if. Put in some work and you should go lottery, but definately not 3rd….1. Wall 2. Davis 3. Favors
