They are Capped Out until the Summer of DHoward/DWill/CP3. JOneal was a puzzling 2 year 11mill deal. KG montrous contract is expiring next year (21mill) .

PPierce is here for 2 more years @ 15mill per.

They have 67mill committed for next year. 2011-2012

2012-13 They only have 3 players committed for 29mill.

Maybe they can do what is rarely done which is stay relevant & rebuild without missing a Beat.

Just don’t resign JGreen & Big Baby.

If they get off to a bad start next year those expiring vets could be handy for teams wanting to shed payroll/who will in turn give Boston some coveted young prospects. Or they could just play it out with an old KG/RA & let their $$$ expire before they sign a Marquee Stud in 2012.

Let Baby walk, Green should be kept for cheap(ish), let West walk as well. Rebuild that bench

If they let Jeff Green walk, do you see him going back to OKC for a discount price

They should try to keep Green assuming the price is right. Let Big Baby walk when the time comes. They might as well go ahead and play out the KG/RA era and then start over.

They have to keep Green, draft Jeremy Tyler is possible and groom him to be their big man for the future. Celtics can’t afford to bottom out, so they’ll have to draft well and work with Rondo, Green and Pierce as the next phase until Paul is ready to go. If they could entice Dwight to come over it would be amazing, imagine Rondo having Dwight to pass to.

I don’t see how they’d let Green go considering he was the major peice in the Perkins trade. If they don’t retain him I’m sure the fans would uproar. Plus I think Jeff Green is underrated. A good defender, scorer, and teammate. He also causes mismatches because he is stronger than some 3’s and quicker than 4’s. Ray Allen himself said he could be an All Star.

"Just don’t resign JGreen & Big Baby."

So punt 2011-12 to chase Dwight Howard despite the fact there is absolutely no reason he would trade a bad supporting cast in Orlando for another bad supporting cast in Boston (which is what Boston is without Garnett, Allen, Davis, Shaq, Jermaine, and Green)? You want to sell Dwight Howard on Rajon Rondo, a to be 35-year old Paul Pierce, Avery Bradley, and the city of Boston? Good luck with that one.

Ainge has quietly put a young core together behind the 20,000 point club with Rondo as maybe their go to guy, Avery Bradley who is seen as a good prospect and Jeff Green who logically they resign and then they could extend Glen Davis if they don’t renew Kristic. I’d figure next season they go with what they have got but if things start to go wrong then they have all those expiring deals which could be used in a trade.

Also they got a pick from the Green-Perkins-Kristic trade which is from the Clippers and is only top 10 protected 2012 to 2015 and unprotected in 2016. If the Clippers continue to improve with Blake Griffin next year then Boston could have say a late lottery pick in a very deep draft so Danny Ainge has a fair few options to play with.

It’s fun to think that around 2006/07, Ainge was considered one of the worse GM’s in the NBA but the Ray Allen and KG trades worked out, he won Executive of the Year in 2008 and Boston have since won one NBA title, 2 Conference titles and 4 divisional titles.
