valentineDoes he suffer from Reinhardtitis? He thinks he should be playing small forward instead of power forward.

jwostrumParticipantI am really not a fan of his game. He does not have a true position. He is very undersized for the 4, and he is vastly under skilled for the 3. He has a Blake griffin game in a Paul George body, in my opinion.

David Stern a.k.a. da muthaf@cking leader of da kryptsParticipantWhy is everybody against Gordon being a 3? He lacks the shooting and passing skills, but there’s no reason to believe he wont improve. He can handle the ball decently and has the athleticism that allows him to be a great perimeter defender.
He’s not a great rebounder and doesn’t really have the size to be a real Pf eventhough he can compensate some of it with his athleticism.
He can play both positions so I don’t understand why people say he’s not a 3.

ph90702Based upon what you said, he sounds like a player who lacks a position and is just an athletic upside player with no basketball skills whatsoever.

SiggyParticipantUsually players up to this point have a certain foundation of skills that give people the impression that they can play certain positions. He is a nice passer, but the rest of his ball skills suck. That’s why people laugh at thought of him being primarily a wing.
When he puts the ball on the deck he’s a TO waiting to happen. When he shoots jumpers he’s an airball waiting to happen. Awkward movements, awkward footwork, high center of gravity in his defensive stance, etc. He looks completely unnatural on the perimeter.0 - Posted on: Tue, 05/28/2013 - 3:42pm #785482

providencefriars1ParticipantThis experiment will last no more than 10 games. See Moser’s situation at UNLV.
The best five for Zona will be going small with McConnell, Johnson, Hollis-Jefferson, Gordon, and Ashley. Bring Tarcewzki off the bench against smaller teams and Ashley with bigger teams. Hollis-Jefferson is too good of a defender to not be getting starters minutes.

DolanCareParticipantEvery time I watch Gordon play, I’m shocked by his lack of ball skills. He is a great finisher who can make some acrobatic moves while in the air. But he is not able to create for himself or others as of now.
He is a 4. If he wants to try to move to the three, good luck to him. But he’s not there yet.

ph90702I feel like my Runnin’ Rebels are going to have their way with Arizona when they play each other in Tucson. There already appears to be problems with the Wildcats while the Rebels are cleaning house of guys who aren’t team players and don’t want to be there. Also, UNLV has some insane defensive potential for next year considering who they have returning as well as the fact that they’re going to press next year.

Sewok15ParticipantHe will certainly be better as an undersized 4 where he can utilize his quickness against bigger defenders…as long as he can hold his own defensively he will be fine. His athleticism should allow him to guard bigger players without much of a problem. It isn’t like he is 6-4 trying to play power forward.
Most guys are more effective when playing the 4 as compared to the 3 because they have a slower defender on them who they can take to the basket. Look at Josh Smith, Thad Young, Carmelo Anthony, Harrison Barnes in the playoffs, Derrick Williams, Tobias Harris, Earl Clark and Jeff Green. All these guys have played both positions in the NBA and had more offensive success playing PF. It isn’t anything new to give up a little bit of size at the 4 for more athleticism and scoring. I think you guys are making a big deal about nothing.

Chilbert arenasParticipantThe only way he could have played the small forward was if Jarrett had stayed and could have spaced the floor at the 4. They won’t have enough spacing and shooting if he plays the 3.

WinterSoldierParticipantI think it funny how many people on here, like players to stay in college, because of the skills it teaches. Yet when a player like Gordon wants to learn skills, to play the 3, he is being ridiculed.

NastyDHLParticipantI don’t think anybody has an issue with him learning skills to play on the wing, as that seems to be his optimal long-term position. The problem is him wanting to play the 3 with a roster that would benefit from him playing the 4, a position he’s better suited for at the moment anyways.

SpacegrassParticipantBad idea playing him at the SF unless you are playing a team that he matches up well with at the SF. Most of the time though he is gonna be chasing around guys who are 6’4-6’5 at the SF in college.

Chilbert arenasParticipantArizona was best last year with Soloman Hill playing at the 4, no one thinks he’s a power forward in the pros but it opened the floor up with him there.

BigChamp12ParticipantYeah that’s true FOR SOLOMON HILL. Gordon doesnt even have the skill set that Solomon Hill has.

providencefriars1ParticipantBasketball is changing especially in the NCAA. You need to have a four man with the ability to play on the perimeter, in fact most teams play with a natural SF at the 4 man position.

ropeParticipantHe’ll play where Sean Miller tells him too. Like a lot of young players, he is a pretty undeveloped specimen. When any player – especially one who hasn’t actually played yet – starts saying “I will do this, I won’t do that,” it is usually a ticket to underachievement.
