BleedGreen808ParticipantI’m happy Al got the payday he was looking for but man it stings that he’s signing with Philly. The fit doesn’t seem ideal but that’s some serious size across the board.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantSo we are just going to ignore what we saw in the 4th quarter of the playoffs already? Is it Josh Richardson who will be getting the ball late in the game or Tobias Harris? We know it won’t be Simmons.

OhCanada-ParticipantExactly. Butler was the only killer on that team. The rest of them were easily shut down. This team could win 60 regular season games but in the playoffs they are worse without Jimmy.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantLate in games, it was Butler and to a lesser extent Redick who were willing to take the shots or have the plays run for them. The adults in the room are gone. Richardson is on a reasonable contract, which is important after the Embiid, Harris, Horford, and eventual Simmons deals. He isn’t Jimmy Butler. It is a lot like what is going on in Milwaukee. Why did Milwaukee value Middleton over Brodgon? Game on the line, Middleton was taking, and often making, the big shots. Losing Brogdon hurts, but that guy is so important when the best player on the team isn’t ideally suited to take the shot with the game on the line.

OhCanada-ParticipantAgainst Toronto the plan was to free up space for Redick.

Sewok15ParticipantEmbiid in the post should be the first option in crunch time. I know ideally you have a guard to go to but Embiid has been clutch in his career quite often. He wasn’t himself in the Toronto series and Jimmy had to take over more than he would have otherwise.
Simmons lack of shooting is the biggest question mark about this team. I say if he doesn’t start at least attempting them by the all star break they should trade him for a legit PG. McCollum or Lillard from Portland. Maybe a younger guy like Fox or Murray. At the very least see what type of value Simmons really has on the trade market.

Sewok15ParticipantBen’s defensively versatility will be huge this upcoming season. If they are playing a team with a Kawhi, KD, Giannis, LeBron he can take them….and also guard the elite PGs pretty well.
Harris isn’t a great defender at the 4 but the the other players will make up for it. He is at least more capable than JJ at that end and won’t get posted up by players like Marcus Smart.
Brett Brown better get this team to at the very least the conference finals. They have questions about the bench right now but the starting 5 is incredibly talented.

publius2481ParticipantHorford is the type of player they needed (full disclosure: I am a Celtics fan and a big fan of Al Horford). Stretches the floor, does plenty of little things to help you win, and will provide a young team some needed veteran leadership. That being said, the Sixers still have plenty of work to do. This team currently lacks depth, so they need to get some bench players. They should have at least 10 million in cap space (more depending on how Horford and Harris’s contracts are structured) plus the room exemption, so they should be able to add 2 or 3 good bench players.

EndlessknightParticipantThey need another guard. Do they have enough cap space to sign George Hill or Patrick Beverly?

BleedGreen808ParticipantGeorge Hill is already going back to the Bucks for 3yrs/29mil.

holefillers1ParticipantGo after Danny Green or Pat Beverly and this group will be defense first. Inside out in the half court on the other end

cohenbc1ParticipantLooks like the Sixers starting lineup will go from maybe the most offensively talented in the league to the most defensively talented … the length of Simmons/Richardson/Harris/Horford/Embiid is unreal. Basically everyone but Embiid is sliding down a position (or 2 or 3 in Simmons’ case) from what would be their ideal position on most teams. But they all have the switchability and defensive mindset to do this with little problem.
Is there enough shooting, though, to keep defenses from just collapsing on Embiid?

The GoatParticipantThis is a really big team. Richardson, Horford and Harris can all shoot the ball. Embiid is reasonable too. They need more shooting off the bench but they are gonna be a big problem.
The Nets will be tough in the East too, but not til KD is back. Boston will be too small to deal with Philly in a 7 game series. Milwaukee got worse losing Brogdon and while the Pacers got better, they aren’t good enough to win the East.
Let’s see what Kawhi does, but right now considering Philly only lost to the champs in the last second of game 7, I have the Sixers as favorites for the East.

OhCanada-ParticipantJosh Richardson probably hates Jimmy Butler right now lol. Expect a physical matchup between those two throughout the next few seasons haha.

SmooveKRYPTParticipantThey should be after bench shooting now. I’d target cheap options like Wayne Ellington, Wes Matthews, etc.

MkadozaParticipantIf I was the Sixers I would have been pushing HARD for a D Lo – Butler sign and trade. D Lo just needed a little more polish off the ball and he would have been the ideal backcourt partner for Simmons. Oh well, hindsight right?
