We all have the guys we love and would promote the hell out of if we were their agents BUT there are also those guys we would pass on in a heartbeat if we were the GM of a drafting team… name 5 guys you don’t love and why…

    for me

    1) Perry Jones – not sold on him at all, he hasn’t proven anything besides his inconsistency and his sincere distaste for banging in the paint. For a guy who stands 6’11” 235 lbs and is vastly talented, his production, or lack there of, is a serious concern. He’s a tweener and doesnt have a knockdown jumper either.

    2) Draymond Green – never have been a fan. it could easily be because i hate michigan state with all of my soul. or, it could be the fact that he is also a tweener like Jones but far less gifted. he surprised me with his measurables but i’m still not taking green over guys like jeffrey taylor or darius miller (who can actually stay in front of 3’s at the next level).

    3) Will Barton– I think I’m in the minority with this one. Barton is a hustler and gets by with outrageous effort and energy. On the other hand, he can’t shoot, isnt strong enough to guard 3’s at the next level, and doesn’t really have a strong attribute besides his effort. He reminds me of CDR but with less size. I wouldnt take him in the 1st round.

    4) Quincy Miller– Should have stayed in school 1 more year. He’s talented but he didnt produce at Baylor in his single season and I’m not really sure if he has a position either. He’s quite a project.

    5) William Buford– He got destroyed at the combine in the 1 on 1 drills and aside from his huge 3 point shot to down Michigan State in the BIG 10 title game this past season, he had an underwhelming career. I’m thinking he’ll fall to the late 40’s

"sincere distaste for banging in the paint"

He’s not a PF or C thats y.. hes a SF .. but mine would be and in NO order

    1. Harrison Barnes- I’ve seen him at Carolina…relies on jumpshot to much.. doesn’t attack rim.. defense is average at best..I just am not sold on him AT ALL

    2. Jeremy Lamb- If theres one player who could sleep through a game it would be him… He looks like the type of dude that wake up at 11am .looks at the clock and goes back to sleep

    3. Dion Waiters- I don’t know where the hype on him came from..is it the lack of quality two guards in the league? I’ve watched cuse games and he doesn’t seem worthy of a single digit pick. That dominique Jones comparison is spot on and look what he’s doing

    4. Jared Sullinger- He’s average height for a PF but looks smaller than they say, looks slow and is unathletic.. His post game is advanced but whats the point of scoring if you can’t defend anybody? score 16 but give up 25 isnt helping anyone win games… add on to the potential weight and back issues and its easy to see why i am not sold on him

    5. Draymond Green- In the NBA he will have no clear position.. too slow and unathletic to be a SF .. not big strong or athletic enough to score or defend PF’s

An Honorable mention goes out to Thomas Robinson as well.. I have him sliding in my mock

Michael Kidd Gilchrist-I think he’ll be a very good role player or 6th man, not really top 5 material in my opinion. Good defender, good rebounder, good energy, but he lacks perimeter skills, and he won’t will his way to the basket with his athleticism like he did in college.
Perry Jones-I like the kid, I like his potential, but he doesn’t have much consistency, toughness, and his motor tends to run cold.
Damian Lillard-Like MKG, I think he can be a good role player because he’s a great shooter, but him playing in a small school scares me, and he still has to prove he has starting caliber point guard skills.
John Henson-Rail thin, might only get to around 230 pounds, might not get strong enough to bang in the post, and isn’t very skilled offensively although I’ll give it to him he has improved the last 3 years.
Fab Melo-He’s big and pretty athletic, but he has a low basketball IQ, pretty low skill level (lowest Pts per 40 among centers being mocked in the draft) and isn’t a great rebounder. Also, his former weight issues are frightening to me, they may come back.

Bradley Beal-this guy is getting too much love he has a high floor but a low ceiling like trob plus he’s no Eric Gordon he doesn’t have the speed or explosiveness of Gordon, he’s more like Marcus Thornton and that comparison wouldn’t want me taking him top 3. Meyers leonard- all scouting reports say he’s a project and he may not reach his potential until he’s on his second team so why in the hell is he getting top ten love? Dion waiters- this guy has no clear cut position, doesn’t have a jumpshot, isn’t as explosive as everyone thinks, low ceiling yet he has a lottery promise Wtf. Perry Jones- how does a guy that can do anything on the court struggle at the college level? He has Tim Thomas written all over him so stay away. Khris Middleton- he hasn’t been able to stay healthy any year at Texas a&m, his shooting has regressed each year yet he’s getting first round love, no way he’s a second rounder imo.

Perry Jones: Seems like a common theme here. He’s fun to watch in an open gym, but he has shown no signs of true domiance or a post game that would be needed for him to be effective

John Henson: I can’t see him as a starter years down the line. He will never be strong enough to be a dominant defender, and doesn’t have the ball handling skills or shot to be an offensive threat

Austin Rivers: This guy will get a shoe deal, and will be a fan favorite. But he will never be a number 1 scoring option for a contender. Unfrountately, being the number 1 option is the only role he knows how to fill. I see him as a solid 6th man who gives instant offense, it just seems like he will go higher than warranted

Draymond Green: I love his heart and game, but he will not be able to get points besides outside jump shooting. Even though he has a decent stroke, it’s not lethal enough to make him a serious offensive option. Can’t see him getting many minutes.

Harrison Barnes: Not sure why people are gawking over his outside shot. I never saw him as an elite shooter, more like above average. He has great size and skill, so I can definitely foresee a long career. However, after his athletic testings people have begun to overvalue him massively.

I like all of these guys but this is based on if I was a GM and how much sentimental value I would place on them.  I think all of these guys will be bench players except for Beal, who will be very solid but not necessarily more than a 3rd option on a good team.  I am pretty sure if I were GM, and these guys were on the board, there would be a player I liked better at the same position and would likely choose before them.  Beal is the only guy that I would take 1st at his position.

Brad Beal – I am not extremely high on him and that is not because he isnt good, but likely because I heard the Ray Allen comparisons and I didnt see them.  Then I heard the Eric Gordon comparisons, didnt see those either.  If his expectations werent so high, I would like him more.  If Beal were in the 2nd half of the lottery, I wouldnt think anything of it, but as a potential top 4 pick, I just am not that high on him.

Perry Jones – I like many others hope we are dead wrong about PJIII, but he hasnt given us evidence to think otherwise.  He is not a small forward, but thats what he envisions himself as.  He would be a killer PF in the league if he figured it out but right now he looks out of place wherever you position you play him at.

Marquis Teague – I love Jeff, but I have never really seen what makes Teague so special.  He is a great athlete, but other than that, I have never really been impressed with him.  My heart wishes I could like him more but my mind says something different.  His jumpshot needs serious work, he doesnt have the best IQ yet, I havent been impressed with his passing ability or his decision making.  The best thing he has going for him is his defense and ability to penetrate.  His game is more erratic than solid at this point.

Austin Rivers – high on him as a scorer, but as a winner I am not.  Smallish combo guards with shoot first mentality just dont turn me on.  I dont think you can ever win with them unless it is almost the perfect situation.  Jason Terry is different because he is better at playing point than Rivers.  When I say smallish, I know Rivers is 6’5" with shoes, but I think his body needs more strength and he is not an athlete like J.R. Smith or somebody.  Rivers is the type of guy where I can see him being moved around from team to team until he gets lucky enough to stick with the right coach as system.  That will require a lot of luck though.

Tony Wroten – I have been high on this guy since HS up until the combine.  I didnt know he was that bad of a shooter.  That is the one chink in his armor that can render him as a liability and can hold him back from being more than a bench player.  The thing I worry about with Wroten is not if he will improve his shooting mechanics, but if his confidence in his shooting will rise or deflate.

    1. Dion Waiters-The fact that people are mocking him as high as #7 is insane. His talent projects between 20-30. You need a jumpshot to play guard in the NBA and he does not have one.

    2. Perry Jones-Whoever made the Tim Thomas projections are spot on. Seems destined to be a guy who never lives up to his potential.

    3. Fab Melo-A second round pick. Lack of bigs in the league might make him a first but I dont picture this guy playing in the NBA in 5 years.

    4. Draymond Green-Who can he defend in the NBA? Too slow to be a 3 and will get pused around by most 4’s. Seems like a 11th guy on the team. Only going to play when the game is in hand.

    5. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist- Not worthy a top 5 selection.  Seems like a great energy guy off the bench for a contender.

    No particular order:

Waiters – surprised he’s projected early lottery

Perry Jones – not sure if hiis work ethic and drive will ever even his potential

Fab Melo – his numbers were terrible yet he will likely be a first round pick…

Draymond Green – he reminds me of a big Mateen Cleaves…his abilities are legit but he’s probably too slow for his size and position.

There are a bunch of guys with smaller question marks, I guess the biggest is Andre Drummond in the top 10. Will he put his abilities to use and turn into one of the best players in the draft or will he be a DeAndre Jordan type of player? One possibility is top 10 worthy and the other is only first round worthy.

I’ve been down on Thomas Robinson as an NBA prospect going back to during the college basketball season.  I don’t think he’ll be a "bust" because he’ll be a good rebounder and defender.  But I don’t see his offensive game translating well.  When I watched KU games, I just didn’t see a consistent mid-range game or an NBA level post game.  I don’t see any way that he can be an 18 ppg scorer.  I see more of a Taj Gibson-like impact with 10 ppg and 8-10 rpg either starting or as a 6th man.  I don’t claim to be all-knowing…obviously I could be very wrong, but that’s just my opinion.

Also, even though he’s from last year’s draft, am I the only one that thinks Kemba Walker is going to be a bench player in a couple years?

     1. Harrison Barnes: He is not better than MKG.  Played for an efficient transition oriented offense in college, the ideal offense for a scoring wing, but still scored with only mediocre efficiency.  Routinely received the ball on the wing before the opposing bigs had gotten back down the floor, but seldom got to the rim.  He is a mediocre ball handler and a very poor passer.  I just don’t see him scoring efficiently in isos in the NBA.  He is a spot-up shooter who can do damage with his pull-up jumper.  I doubt he becomes as good as Danny Granger, his closest favorable NBA comparison, just because he hasn’t proven himself to be that good of a shooter.  I think his high school hype still buoys his reputation a bit too much.  He will be solid, but not a star or the best sf in this draft.

    2. Jared Sullinger: He is too slow to be an effective 4, but he lacks the length of a center.  I think once he matches up with longer, stronger NBA defenders he will no longer be an elite post scorer, which is his most important skill.  He will likely be able to score, but I wonder how efficiently and he will be a liability on defense, as he lacks the foot speed to effectively defend the pick and roll.  He is often compared to Kevin Love and Zach Randolph, but he isn’t nearly as athletic as Love or as long and skilled as Z-Bo.

    3. Austin Rivers: He is a good instant offense player, but his skill set is somewhat replacable.  He is not a very good off-the-ball player, relying on playing with the ball in his hands.  He may not be a true pg, but he won’t be effective unless he is the lead guard.  The problem is that NBA defenses are too good for him to be an efficient scorer at the next level.  He knows how to use a pick, but he doesn’t know how to find the open man with a pass, so his pick-and-roll game won’t be as effective at the next level.  Rivers is a prospect with a low floor; we already know he can create his own shot and fill an instant offense role.  The problem is that he may not ever be more than that.  I say he is the #5 sg, after Beal, Lamb, Ross, and Waiters.

    4. Kendall Marshall: Marshall is a player who I doubt will ever spend much time as a starter in the league.  He is an outstanding passer, but a defensive liability who lacks the shooting and slashing ability to score or create more open passing lanes.  He will get assists, but he won’t score and will get helped off frequently.  He has a major strength in his passing ability, but other areas of his game are lacking.

    5. Fab Melo: He got a lot of blocked shots at Syracuse, but little else.  I think he will stick in the league because of his size, but I think he will be an offensive liability due to his low skill level and I don’t see him as an elite defender.  In college, he played in a zone and didn’t have to defend pick-and-rolls or defend players out of the lane.  He will be a solid defender, but not a game changer to make up for his offensive shortcomings.

B Beal: Good, not great athlete. Shot looks pretty but doesn’t go in at a good clip. Struggled against size in college. I just don’t really get what people like about him.

MKG: For all the Shawn Marion and Gerald Wallace comps he gets, he’s nowhere near the shooter that either of them are. Nowhere near the shooter Shawn Marion and Gerald Wallace are. Again, not in the same league shooting the ball as Shawn Marion and Gerald Wallace.

Fab Melo: No contributions on offense. Minimal rebounding. Trouble staying in shape…. Sounds like a winner.

Kendall Marshall: I haven’t heard anyone say anything positive about him about anything other than his passing. Being a great passer is great… but really you need to be able to do something else, too.

Damian Lillard: He just seems more like one of those dime-a-dozen, ball-dominant, undersized, 2 guards than anything worth spending a draft pick on, to me.

Harrison Barnes…will probably get a lot of hate for this but to me he is no more than a scorer and scorers don’t always stay in the league. His game is also kind of awkward for the pros.

John Henson…I swear I am not a UNC hater but John is just so skinny and he wont be able to guard guys like he did in college also he can’t shoot and his athletic numbers were less than impressive.

Perry Jones III…he has a lot to prove after having a mediocre college career…if he is going to succeed he needs to go to a team where he can be the star player that is if he really has what it takes.

Damian Lillard…He didn’t get as much attention as Stephen Curry and Jimmer Fredette did in their college careers…he has a lot to prove as well…can he be a playmaker?

Andre Drummond…Whoever drafts him is really taking a big risk because he is clueless on the offensive end of the floor. Sure he is great defensively but that will only get you so far.

I know its a workout but if you say he is not wet and athletic AF then you are simply a hater and nothing else.

Perry Jones…I really like him actually, just not where he’ll be selected. High bust risk..

Kendall Marshall – Once again, I actually like him..but I feel like he’ll give up alot on the defensive end, can you imagine him defending Chris Paul tonight, Steve Nash the next day, Derrick Rose 3 days later, Russel Westbrook 2 days after that? He’ll get torn apart..

Damian Lillard – Not a fan, another undersized, ball-dominant Shooting Guard, in a PGs body. He’ll be a good scorer off the bench, but I dont see much else..

Arnett Moultrie – I like him…but not where he’ll actually be selected..

Dion Waiters – Same deal….I like him, but hes not a lottery pick, if he really has a high guarantee, then that team is making a mistake..

Dion Waiters is the best all around SG in this whole class. EVERY SINGLE NBA TEAM LOVES HIM. Every one. How do you all think you know so much more when half of you prolly only seen like 3 SU games? This is the sh*t that annoys me on this site because people just ignore facts and spew ignorance with no basis and it spreads. I knew for 100% fact that everyone was going to be hating on Dion before I evn clicked into this thread. He can’t shoot? Prove it. He’s not athletic? Prove it. He’s not a good defender? Prove it. He has a weight problem? Prove it. Because no numbers, or scouts, or GM’s, or analysts, supports even one of these things that a bunch of you are saying. So unless you are just making it up, I am confused personally. If you weren’t too stubborn and just set in your ways you would watch that video I just posted and eat your words because that jumper is pretty as hell by any standards idc who you are.

    Im not high on

1.Perry Jones- he doesnt produce and now he is just making excuses of why he didnt succeed

2.Kendall Marshall – People will say he is the purest PG to come out of college in awhile. That could be true, but that doesnt count for squat in the NBA. The dude is slow. He is Marcus Williams from UCONN all over again and MW was a premiere college PG. Same goes for Mateen Cleaves and Jacque Vaughn. They didnt do squat either in the NBA

3.Tony Wroten- people are enamored by his height at the position. If a 6’6” PG is projected to go late first round to early 2nd then there are some serious red flags to consider…like his more TOs then assist and his broken jumper. Weve seen these players before too: Jarvis Crittenton, Darryl Sasser

4.John Henson- I dont hate him but usually 215lb PFs dont make it in the NBA now. And you have to remember the dude has already put on 30lbs since highschool

5-Jeremy Lamb- I cant place it but there is something that doesnt sit well with me with him. He just looks ackward

Well, I’ll sign up for some negatives as well.

    1. Perry Jones – Doesn’t produce, doesn’t play hard, does he even have any skills to showcase or was he afraid?  Anthony Randolph 2.0

    2. Andre Drummond – Don’t see the hype around him at all.  Couldn’t produce against lesser competition, don’t think he’ll produce in the NBA.  Kwame Brown 2.0

    3. Jared Sullinger – He plays below the rim, unathletic, and slow.  Sean May 2.0

@careful Because I’m a Syracuse fan and only care about their prospects obviously? Why would I talk about people I didn’t care about? And also because there are more ignorant opinions on here backed up by 0 fact about him than any other prospect in the whole draft. I get tired of reading the same blatantly false sh*t on here every day by people who obviously have 0 clue what they are talking about or have seen 2 games. 3rd off if you did any research you would know that there are a few NBA teams who have him above Beal and others who say he is the only potential superstar in the draft besides Davis. You act like he cant be better than Beal because he’s gonna get picked like 4 spots below him. Thats the ish I’m talking about. Like the 2nd SG drafted in a draft has never been better than the first. Good One.

Perry Jones – Has the talent of an all-star, but the mentality of a middling role-player. He has no motor, plays soft, and thinks he a 3 when his perimeter skills aren’t good enough. Reminds me of a less skilled Tim Thomas.

Quincy Miller – Second of the Baylor boys. Thought he would’ve been more skilled coming out of HS considering everything I read about him and how much hype he was getting. He has no explosiveness vertically or running w/ the ball, very poor lateral quickness, and overrated ball skills (would get called for carryin/palming at least once a game. Has no position defensively. He has nice touch on his jumper, but I don’t see much else.

Jared Sullinger – Has some post skill, but is undersized and lacks explosiveness, so he probably won’t make a living on the block at the next level. He’ll probably have to be a face-up big at the next level. Will probably be a liability on defense. And the injury issues are pretty scary. Big Baby 2.0.

Jeremy Lamb – Talented, but seems like he lacks fire. Too many times would I see him disappear and fade into the background this past season. He’s really lacking a slashing game and shies away from contact.

Terrence Jones – A tweener in the worst way. Not enough perimeter skills and shooting to be a full-time 3, and not enough post skill to be a full-time 4. I also worried about him mentally. He is mentally fragile and will ceck out of games when things aren’t going his way.

Tbh I’m not really low on anyone after going through some videos of players some more.

I used to hate Rivers, but at early-mid teens he’ll at least be able to score. I really like Beal, but at #2 I think his expectations will be a bit higher then they should be. Sullinger’s back is an issue. T-Jones is intriguing but I can see him being a backup for most of his career. Miller and Wroten are really raw but have superstar potential. Henson needs to work on his FT’s and put on some more weight, but I think a lot of these guys should be alright in the league.

    In no order:

Dion Waiters: I think his ceiling is somewhere between Rodney Stuckey and James Harden.  I think he can excel in a Jason Terry kind of role coming off the bench, but there’s just so many holes in his game; I don’t see him becoming an all-star.

Meyers Leonard: Seems like the classic center that you draft and pray he learns the skills to be a legit center.  Very gifted athletically, but he seems even more raw than Fab Melo, and that’s saying something.

Marquis Teague: He just never did it for me while he was in college.

Terrence Jones: I don’t feel like he really has a position in the NBA.  Doesn’t seem skilled enough to be a SF, but isn’t big enough to be a PF.

Those are the 4 main ones that I think are overhyped.  I think Anthony Davis will be a great player; probably somewhere between Serge Ibaka and Marcus Camby, but I don’t think he’ll ever become a KG or Tim Duncan kinda guy.  Don’t think he’s he type of guy that can be a team’s best player and lead them deep in the playoffs.

Isn’t Terrence Jones 6-9? I keep hearing he is undersized but I see him being plenty big to be a stretch 4 with some serious athleticism. The question is whether he sees himself as a wing.

The problem with T Jones is he has no big man skills and not enough perimeter skills.

Yeah. Right now T Jones is a rangy face-up PF with good D. But he’s just 20y old and has the tools to become a very good two-way big man. Kinda bigger, less explosive Josh Smith.

Ok guys will think I am crazy but here goes

    1) MKG- solid role player for sure but in the top 5 that is way to high. I know that intangibles are important but he hasn’t shown me enough NBA skill level to be that high a pick

    2) Brad Beal – No way he is Ray Allen or Gordon. I see excellent shooter and right now he is more built than guys like Lamb and Ross but I see them both as better long term prospects

    3) Sullinger- I just see him having a lot of trouble getting his shot off. I know he is dropping because of medical but had he been healthy would have been lottery pick.

    4) Kendall Marshall- His combine agility numbers where ranked with the centers. I can’t see how he competes with likes of Paul and Westbrook.

    5) Quincy Miller- he really seems to have lost a lot of quickness from injury if it doesnt come all the way back he will struggle he wasn’t the most athletic in first place.
