I’m determined to make a good trade machine trade.  This one has several players who look like they’ll be moved.

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=29n55kd

Detroit gets proven players in Iggy and Randolph to help recharge the franchise. Randolph has said he would like to go to Detroit.

Memphis gets Prince’s nice expiring contract to help them resign Gasol and then Mayo next summer. They also get a backup with potential in Speights. Villanueva could be successful playing with Gasol. They really only give up Thabeet because they would most likely lose Randolph at the end of the season anyway.

New Orleans gets a proven and still-capable scorer in Hamilton without giving up much player-wise.

Philly gets Peja’s valuable expiring contract, a defensive center in Thabeet, and Belinelli as a capable backup to Turner who know has the starting 2 position.

I think this helps everyone, but it depends on how valuable Peja would be to Philly.

    Detroit
    Stuckey / Bynum
    Iggy / Gordon
    Daye / McGrady
    Randolph / Monroe
    Wallace

    Memphis
    Conley
    Mayo / Henry
    Gay / Prince
    Villanueva / Arthur
    Gasol

    New Orleans
    Paul / Bayless
    Hamilton / Thornton
    Ariza / Pondexter
    West
    Okafor

    Philly
    Holiday / Williams
    Turner / Belinelli
    Young / Nocioni
    Brand
    Hawes / Thabeet

Is that Philly would still have Brand’s huge deal and some other bad deals that would prevent this move from making any sense for them. Unless someone was able to throw in a couple of first rounders for Philly, this trade would make little sense for them. While Detroit might get the best of the deal, I do not see how a scenario like this possibly plays out in their favor as far as rebuilding is concerned. They trade for some huge contracts (granted Randolph might sign for significantly less next time around), but overall I do not see why Philadelphia does this deal. It is interesting, it just really makes no sense for one team and I think the other teams, particularly Detroit, might want to go in a different direction.

Just like mike said, the Sixers need to see a first round pick or two come their way.  If that happens, then we might be in, but at the same time it is tough to basically dump Iggy and swap M16 for Thabeet who has proven nothing. Idk. Maybe Detroit’s unprotected first this yr?

Ah yeah, I forgot to include the picks.

I don’t see a problem with Detroit sending their pick or even Monroe instead to Philly.

    Better? Adjustments?

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2cezppd

Stuckey has been having major issues with Kuester, which is why I included him.

Not sure if the Grizz would like that new one but it’s a lot better, the Pistons win big time in that trade. Zach Randolph is an upgrade over Villanueva, Iggy an upgrade over Tayshaun Prince/Rip Hamilton, and Lou Williams can score pretty well and he’s an actual PG, unlike Rodney Stuckey.

Great trade for detroit, but none of the other teams should do it.

New Orleans- offense is fine right now if they traded for rip right now they would have to rework it to suit hamilton. also i don’t see new orleans wanting to take on rips 3 year deal.

Memphis: has been paying some of their young guys, suggesting they want to win. adding Peja who has nothing left and charlie v doesn’t make them contenders.

Philly: is already loaded at the guard and wing spots without adding more. Turner fills the same role as stucky except he is better. So philly would have traded its best player and still have no bigs. thats not a great play for that team.

If you want to come up with a good trade, here are some things to look out for.

    1. make sure you are realistic when you evaluate players on your favorite teams.  also make sure you look at each teams perspective and how they will be affected for the lifetime of the contracts they just traded for, not just this year.

    2. Where are the best players going. A good player with a bad contract is always better then a bad player with an expiring contract. If a team is looking to make a swap of contracts that size, a young player or picks should be included to even the talent gap. cap space is only useful if you are in full rebuilding mode. otherwise teams should try and stay above it as much as they can afford too.

    3. If you are trading picks know what they will be worth. Never has a trade involving a top 3 pick worked out well for the team that gave it away.

they are just some of my thoughts, and i like to think that i do ok with hypothetical trades.
