memphis takes rubio, which only takes a 5 year old to realize that you can just trade the guy for so much more.

there are talks of ny/sac/ houston and even boston have drawn interest.

with ( new york ), i think the grizz could get lee and the 8th pick, (steph curry) for rubio. d’antonio wants his star point guard. I don’t believe this would happen until july, due to david lee being restricted. but i would love to see this trade.

With ( sac ), the grizz could trade rubio and darko-(expiring, big-man help) for a big, which I think they would be inclined to go for Hawes. Hawes can shoot from far out and has some pretty good defense. He plays like a 4 and can pass. Gasol and Hawes would be a pretty nice young duo which could pass, defend and most definitly rebound. Also, the grizz should aim for the 4th pick, which I think they should take Harden ONLY if he’s available. If not, go for the best available wing player.
However, from what I’ve read, I’m not sure if the kings want to give up that big man duo. I do think they should follow through though. Rubio and kevin martin…wow..that’d be pretty sweet, and whoever their big left over is would get more time to grow and be relied on much more.

I think it was yahoo sports where I read boston and houston were interested in this pick.

I think boston would give up davis or powe, and maybe some scrub to tag along. But this trade wouldn’t happen until july or so due to powe and davis being restricted. Also, with an amazing player in rondo, why would they want rubio?

With houston, I’m not sure why they would want this pick…with aaron brooks, i think they’re fine at pg.

Yeah I read that too about Boston, Houston, and the Knicks wanting to trade up.

Getting Rubio doesn’t make sense for Boston. Maybe Boston wants Thabeet.

Ha I can’t figure out why Houston would want Rubio or Thabeet.

That hardly ever happens that rookies are traded long after the draft for eachother because they really get a handle how the players do against pro talent by then. Usually one looks much stronger by then and its hard to come to an agreement.

why the Rockets would trade for Rubio unless they are going to give up Brooks? Or draft some other player that can score to help us. But if we were to go for Rubio then…actually…it just doesn’t make sense to me. Unless Memphis would want Brooks. They have no need for Battier, they had Lowry before…maybe a Power Forward of ours? Cook? Landry? I don’t think they would want Brooks, but I’d have to think about doing that. A year ago I would’ve said Brooks bye bye, but he really impressed me this season. Not just the playoffs. 🙂 We’ll see, I doubt we’ll make a strong push. Only about 2 weeks until the draft.

Memphis would want KG from Boston but Boston would have to be willing to take on salaries, Memphis would want Yao Ming and maybe something else and New York really doesn’t have much to offer, maybe david lee sign and trade and Wilson Chandler??

YAO MING??? for the number 2 Pick? Yeah, like that would happen. We’d never do such a thing and send him to a place like Memphis. Wow. No….I don’t think Memphis would be stupid enough to even ask, “How about Yao…” because right when they hear Yao. Rockets would be out the door or hanging up.

I don’t think it will happen, but I’d love to see Bulls trade up and pick Harden who would be the perfect guard in tandem with Rose. We have 2 mid to low 1st round picks, Deng, Hinrich and Tyrus Thomas in some combination would be the bait. Thabeet would also be a great fit for Bulls who haven’t had a legit center since Artis Gilmore. I know he has no offensive game, but he would be the great defensive anchor any team would want and his shotblocking and rebounding would enable the Bulls to fastbreak a lot more. Rose, Thomas (if they keep him) are perfect for a running team and if he signs, Gordon could can shots off the secondary breaks. I don’t think Grizzlies are sure what to do with pick and might be best served to trade it. Question is who comes up with the best offer.

The best offer is what the grizz will go for. It’s a big debate to me whether i’d want to get hawes and harden (hypothetically) or david lee and (steph curry). Either of the trades would help memphis alot.

Curry and Lee would be a reasonable package. Grizzlies would be solid 1-4. Not many teams have a great center and Lee is a stud rebounder, easing the burden for Memphis.

With the interest from Boston, NY, and Houston I think anyone that has Memphis taking Thabeet is out of their mind.

There are some nice trade scenarios working for that Rubio pick but at this point I wish Memphis would keep Rubio because it would be terrible to send him off and he goes and becomes the next CP3.

Either way Memphis is NOT going to take Thabeet and they will end up getting some good player(s) and/or picks for this #2 slot.

Hopefully they could still swing a deal with the Clippers to nab Griffin. Although as a Memphis fan I would HATE to see Rubio tearing it up for the next 10-12 years in the league

@ leglockfan. – sometimes you gotta do things like this though, for the bettering of the team. I like your idea about keeping rubio as well. it would bring some fans in. but it doesn’t help the team. their’s a huge hole at the 4. LAC would probably ask way too much ( CORE player ) and rubio, and they would expect us to take randolphs contract as well JUST to get blake.

Houston wouldn’t want Rubio. They’d want Thabeet. Think about it… Other than Yao, Houston’s front court is small. Scola is 6-7, Laundry is 6-7 and Chuck Hayes is 6-6… Brian Cook is 6-9, but he didn’t make the rotation. Mutumbo suffered a career ending knee injury in the playoffs. Yao is pretty injury prone himself. They’d love to have Thabeet’s defensive presence backing up Ming.

Houston would want Thabeet (The second coming of Mutombo) as Mutombo’s very own replacement, but then again…what would we trade?

I understand but I also think you could swing a trade to take on the Randolph contract or Kaman’s contract and just suck it up to have a PF like Griffin.

But I’d like to have Rubio on the team and I think with the Conley move (cause he would be traded if Memphis keeps Rubio) you could pick up a solid 4

Curry will not make it to 8 and that is why the Knicks will trade up but if they trade that high it will be for Rubio.

Rubio does not want to play for Memphis and will not come over this year and maybe do a Fran Vaquez unless his rights are trade to a team he wants. I think he wants to go to New York.

This draft is so deep in point guards that you could possibly get a steal point guard wise in the end of the draft when you dont have to worry about taking a player you like too early

if you think about it, rubio isn’t coming to memphis because hollins gasol and wallace already visited him. this is exactly how stupid rumors get passed on. no source to back you up on your word.
